usafstud
Hi,I'm asking because I don't know if this is normal or ok in Ohio. I like the security of a bike part in front of a building instead of being parked in the back parking lots.I never got fined or got shit from people when doing this in Cali and Europe. Thanks,Frank
ReconRat
I used to do that all the time. I haven't tried it lately. There are some new laws/rules for downtown Columbus that do not allow motorcycles and scooters parking on the sidewalk anymore. So now I don't know. I doubt it was ever legal, but was never enforced much.I did always try to keep it out of the way of the pedestrians.

buildit
Legally, no.Actually it all depends. If your at Iron Pony I think you would be hard pressed to find an officer hard up enough to start writing tickets.
SWing'R
I think the best, at least the safest assumption, is no. I'd say "park at your own risk" if you chose to put it on the sidewalk.

GSXR-7Fish
I personally drive my down the side walk when needed. Yet to get a ticket.
conn-e-rot
In all fairness you do ride a gixxer so LEO's would expect no less
Wicked1
It all depends where you are, use your best judgment- Just don't be pissed off when your bike is laying on the side when someone who has a bug up their a22 doesn't like your parking job. ReconRat
Actually, with the need for revenue being the way it is, I'd hesitate to try my luck with anything that might get me a fine, fee, or penalty. Times have changed.
John
i do it all the time. never had a problem. just dont be a prick and park in front of someones door, or blocking the sidewalk. if you are out of the way, no one is going to complain. Rjettman
I got a ticket for that once back in the '80's when I parked on the sidewalk in front of the Marine recruiters office. Cop had to be a total jackwagon to write a high school kid a ticket while he was joining the Marines but oh well. He was probably ex-navy. natedogg624
you can, usually, park in the hash markings that are usually in front of parking lots (/////). just make sure you don't park in them next to handicapped spots.
fusion
No and if you do you are a squid. Same rules as a car in this case, don't give cagers yet another reason to think we are all dbags just because you are.
John
I never got fined or got shit from people when doing this in Cali and Europe.because they are usually ahead of the curve on these types of things. like lane splitting for example. buildit
In Ohio it's also illegal to put two bikes in the same parking spot. Although it takes an LEO with hand cuffs stuck sideways up their @ss to enforce it. So it is probably heavily enforced in New Albany and Gahanna. Radio Flyer
I see plenty of people on campus parking right on sidewalks next to bike racks. I'd do it if I still had my bike.

I'd do it if I still had my bike.Again, that is private property (technically). However, you need to watch the Traffic and Parking guys from OSU. They have ticketed marked CPD cruisers parked at OSU PD headquarters when we were there on official business (and have jurisdiction).
