What kind of stand do you use to swap a rear shock?

I'm going to swap the shock on my Gladius with one from a 07 GSXR600. It's a direct bolt on and should be simple enough. I haven't quite decided how I'm going to lift the bike. It may involve a front stand and a car jack under the motor.

Any better ideas?

If the swingarm pivot bolt is hollow, you can put jackstands on either side & use a long rod through the pivot.

I held mine up with engine hoist and nylon strap around rear sub-frame you could put it on stand and then put a strap over rafters to support it and then remove the stand

if you have fixed rearsets, jackstands under the pegs.

front stand and jack under the motor could work but it'll be sketchy with only two points of contact. really need a third for stabilization.

i also managed to rig my rearstand to fit my OEM foldable pegs by getting them to line up with the base of the pegs before the fold joint.

I have always used jackstands on the rearsets but I don't have stock ones. If you do, I would do it the way howabusa said.

I use a bike jack with 2x4's and get the back wheel off the ground and use my big manly arms to manipulate the swing arm to get the shock in and out. Works if you're A beast.

I have a few of these motorcycle jacks, they work great on the rear as well if you put the forks right on the swingarm pivot.

I didn't put one scratch on mine....just make sure you pull all the nails out of the 2x4's first. As far as grunt, is concerned a swinger and wheel aren't that heavy, was pretty easy to lift with one hand and feed the bolt thru with the other.

I have used this method to put in raising links on a bike. I still have the rod if you want to borrow it.
