ok, i read up on this, and this the gist:

names are randomly selected from intermediate and advanced groups (so to participate, you only have to be registered for the track day in one of those 2 groups). assuming they choose to participate once their name is drawn, they'll put a GPS logging and timing device on the riders and whoever has the fastest lap time "wins". presumably, the schtick is that they'll have their pro coach analyzing their lines and telling them how to go faster and also presumably, the show's cast are already quick or very talented riders. haven't found out if they are racers or whatnot, but the claim is that the 4 riders are track day riders (or at least, that is how they are described).

the fastest rider gets to a ticket to laguna seca for the finale.

yeah, definitely NOT doing this. nobody wants to be embarrassed on tv, especially canadian TV.

apparently, a fledgling reality tv show called "Hot Lap" will be attending the nelson round.

come on all you camera craving attention whores. you can stop sending dick pics to girls who keep calling the cops, and do it on tv instead while riding at the track.

This has Hollywood written all over it (and I mean that lovingly)! His golden red, expertly styled hair, his charm and charisma...He was born to be in front of a camera...whether it be as a porn star or on cops.

How does Nelson Ledges get put on the same list with tracks like VIR, NJMP, Mid-O, or pretty much any track on their tour? Beaver (PIRC) at least doesn't look like a shit hole, lol.

Haha, they wanted to go slumming it at least once. It will be the wtf moment in their season.

You obviously have never seen Canadian tracks.

This is true. Given that they are Canadian, and essentially lumber jack Frenchmen, it is likely that they refer to riding caribou at moderate rates of speed down dirt roads as road racing.

I think you have a decision to make, who do you really want to be in life? Hollywood, reality TV star, or Asshole, attorney at law? If you choose hollywood you better be there saturday

Well, being an attorney will qualify him for asshole status, so he could kill two birds with one stone by passing the bar. :D

Last I heard about this show they were doing "casting" calls at IMS shows. No random drawing of contenstant's names.

And it was 3 novices competing against THEIR coaches. Jordan Szoke (multi-time Canadian Superbike Champion) is their riding consultant, or some other fancy title that really means, "if you're that fast, they're just going to put him on track and beat you down to reality."

...I've encouraged my buddy Brad to audition for the show. He'd certainly worry them at least a little bit if they've never been to Nelson before. I would guess he's under the 1:10 mark.
