Just speaking for my Muslim friends I met on this forum who no longer log on, I never blew any of them. I'm personally atheist and view all religion as utter bullshit. A mixture of man trying to understand the world around him before science could explain it and man's successful attempt at controlling populations while robbing them blind. That being said, I respect people's choices to swallow whatever flavor of bullshit they choose provided they don't push it on me.5 points

......it was blowing 20 steady with gusts to 30. The solid cement lane was closed, so across on the grate we went. Thought Mrs. Tonik was going to die. She is pretty fearless on the bike, she had been over 60 pm the Dragon....but bridges and water are to r much for her. We got to the toll booth on the far side and the lady said that will be 4 dollars. From the back of the bike I hear....FOUR DOLLARS? YOUR BRIDGE TRIED TO KILL ME, HE AIN'T PAYING YOU SHIT! Tomorrow, the falls and painted rocks and along the north side up to Houghton.3 points

Some of you might be surprised at what the median Muslim actually believes. There have been many worldwide opinion polls... seek them out. The central tenets of Islam are fairly violent and misanthropic, and most followers in the 3rd world are true believers. It's a major intellectual failing of Western liberals to not realize: a) the emotional power of religious experience among true believers (of any faith.) It's just not something that a secular person can easily empathize with, short of certain kinds of drug-experiences. b) the inherently violent nature of Mainstream muslim doctrine, as it is dispensed daily in tens of thousands of mosques world wide. Instead the reaction is to draw equivalence to Christianity by quoting passages from Leviticus and invoking the Crusades. Ive personally never heard of a Christian sermon based around the wacky sections of the old testiment... and one of the parties in the Crusades subsequently experienced a small event relevant to our lives callef the Enlightenment. Islam is retrograde belief system responsible for a lot of misery among the poor souls unlucky enough to be born where it's the law of the land. Resist whatever kind of white guilt or team-sport-politics are driving you to defend it. Take a hard look at the current, mainstream beliefs and practices, and outcomes in the countries run under this system.3 points

Actually that was one of the first things that crossed my mind: wearing the uniform in pic with the crown could be an endorsement photo (not unlike the AF dude who appeared in a video for a non-profit), the deer pic with non-uniform items on, that eyeliner is probably out of regs too. If it weren't for the fact that the powers that be weren't too busy beating off to the pics they might care ;-)2 points

Ok I think we've beat up on Scruit enough. :-) Truth is, we've all done the exact same thing! Scruit I think you're into something with waiting to merge until later, though its always a tough call and probably traffic dependent. That's a tough interchange. In any case, wishing you safe commutes. Thanks for being a good sport and provoking a good debate.2 points

The old Virago had a battery go south, so messing with it. Tested and bad cells. So commenced the search for new battery. First call, $130.....yeah, YIKES! Second call $95... Hmmm, maybe another place....third call and battery now at $80.00 quote. Trickle charger works maybe I can limp it along. Then I remember my travels in Amish Country, and a stop at an Amish business. Noticed a rack of.....motorcycle batteries. Wha? the Hey? So I went back there. Yep, they got motorcycle batteries. "How much I ask?" Depends he says, what battery? So ended up pursuing this. Got a battery for $47.75. It turns out to be exactly .... EXACTLY....the same battery that was toast in the old Virago. Who'da thought?!? Amish buggy battery? Dunno.1 point

Thanks for the concerns guys, I didn't want to go into too much detail in the original post but here goes; I've been crewing for a dirt late model driver for the past 2 years on and off, not too serious as he mainly ran the local shows. Well this was the first year we ran the biggest show of the year the World 100, 3 days of racing, and basically living out of the trailer, running all over with the golf cart, driving into small towns to get supplies, ya know, redneck stuff. Well anyways, he is growing his team from a small rollback trailer with 1 car to a team of 3 late models and 1 Emod. Right now he took 3rd in points at the local track, could have won the points if he had won a race but had a lot of bad luck anytime he was running up front. But he is only 21 and just getting into his prime, and we are just getting more and more into it. We traveled about 6 weekends this summer to tracks with 2 day events or overnight campouts between tracks and such to help as much as I could. Obviouslly with the preggers wife I was very limited, and now that we have Luke, we should be good to go to the events next year and actually make a full team effort. Other than the driver and his dad, my father was the only full time crew member and he needs more help from people who will really put in the work, get dirty, greasey, covered in race fuel, and go 90% deaf for multiple days at a time from working on the engines etc. So that's where I come in, the trip's to the race tracks cost way more than going to work on the late model, and his dad basically told me that if I want to race one they will bring it, set it up, and I have to pay for anything I break and that's it. As long as I help. Since these things have 900+ hp at the rear wheels I figure it's probably something I can do 1-2 times a year and get my rocks off nicely. Well that's one reason, other is we are buying a lake house with my parents around the semi-private lake my moms side of the family lives on. Nothing fancy, just a cottage, but none the less, if you follow the route to the race track the driver races at weekly, the house is 2 hours north of it so I can send Amanda and Luke up with mom as dad and I stay and work on the cars coming up after. Plus we go up there for several weekends a year and it's just easier to take Basco with us vs trying to have my friend take care of him, so that helps us be able to make more trips. Oh and my uncle is a raging alcoholic, who happens to be my godfather and is filthy rich. So it makes the trips out on his boats that much more enjoyable lol. We hope to be in the lake house here in the next 30 days, and upgrading a few things before winter, with a full bathroom remodle over the winter. A lot of my cousins have kids that are 1-2 years old, and one is about to have their 2nd, so a lot of us who grew up together have another generation to get to hangout together and grow up. For the record Amanda is actually AGAINST me selling the bike. She knows eventually I will get another one, and if I tried to build this bike I would have well over 5,000 in it. That is JUST the bike, not spares. Rant over.1 point

That's good. I look at it like this. I have custody of my kids for a reason. She would have to prove to the court why I was in the wrong1 point

When I was a na at the VA back home one of the patients on my ward had helped construct the mighty Mac. I read his pendaflex (past records) and some of the stories he told were really funny. Those winds can get really hard. Years back a lady was blown off the bridge during some high winds. Anymore they will close the bridge down once the winds reach a certain point. I've gone across on 2 wheels and while in a pickup during some real wind and it can be darned scary....with high 'pucker factors'....lol1 point

This has been a huge problem for the RR and VFR's of those years. Big problem was that they attached it to the aluminum frame but left an air gap so no heat sink. I was told to get some heat sink paste and apply it between the R/R and the frame to help keep it cool. I built an RR with a complete Carbon fiber Monocoque frame and had to move the R/R behind the motor. From a VFR website I found that people were getting a CPU aluminum heat sink and mounting it on the R/R to help with the heat issue. I mounted mine on a heat sink and also mounted a small cpu fan since mine was behind the motor. I never had an issue after that.1 point

Yeah she told me to go ahead and do it we are filing paper work Monday. My lawyer said if she wanted to do anything about it she would have to take me to civil court with right now she has no money anyway. Put that with her having a hard time paying her rent and the dui she got a few months ago I dare her to.1 point

Thanks hellmutt. So like I thought my ex was here to meet me after school to pick up my daughter. So after she came waddling over to me like she had poo in her jeans I calimly said just call the police.. They showed up we plead are case and told me that it was a civil matter and they were not going to get involved. I am surely in comtempt but my kids safety is first. so my kiddos are with me for this weekend.1 point

Am I the only one would would never even think about using my horn in that situation? If I missed the signal and saw a car start to veer into my lane I've always moved over to the left of the lane and made a split second choice between rolling on the gas or brakes. If there is enough time, a quick glance and lane change to avoid having to change speeds. Staying in the center of the lane and laying on the horn is just begging for the driver to crank their head back to see the noise, and drag the wheel with it. Horns are for cages when your only option is alerting the other driver because you have no other choice....on a bike you have the visibility, maneuverability and the power to weight ratio to get out of that situation WAY faster than that other driver can react to the sound of your horn.1 point

Oh, and if any of you come up this way. We are staying at the Kewadin Hotel and casino in Sault St Marie. 80 bucks, awesome buffet and a casino. Got 20 in comps for signing up for a card, turned that into 75 and cashed out.1 point

This forum has lost members of the Muslim faith because of exactly what you people are saying. Pinning terrorism on an entire religion is idiotic. All the Muslims I know are nice, peaceful, respectable people who look at the wahadi extremists with the same disdain as we do.1 point

However man Muslims are "marching" today, there are millions across the country who are in no way responsible for 9/11, and have no terrorist ties whatsoever. (And I'm not saying anyone marching IS a terrorist... I don't understand what they think they're accomplishing) People use the term "Muslim extremist" a lot; and I don't have a problem with that, except for the fact that they focus on the "Muslim" part and ignore the "extremist" part - which is undeniably more significant. Think of it this way: the Westboro Baptist Church wackos could just as accurately be described as "Christian extremists." Nobody goes around cursing "those damn Christian terrorists."1 point

I started the thread, so I consider myself better qualified than your illiterate self to describe the point of the thread. It was to claim Obama liked Muslims more than Bikers. I think the thread title clearly indicates that. That claim was specifically designed to get a bunch of asshats arguing about nothing. Thank you for your participation. Mission Accomplished.1 point
