  1. My dad always had a street bike and a dirt bike. When I about 5 or 6, Dad got me a little green Garelli dirt bike. I was allowed to ride it in the back yard, only if dad was with me. Then, at some point, Dad gave up riding as he become more involved with me and sports and boyscouts. I was 16 when I got my first street bike, but my dad never did get another street bike for himself. Best father's dad ever, time spent with dad riding motorcycles. I has a sport bike that I rode and my Dad rode my other bike, a 1982 GS 850 Suzuki. I still have the 850, probably will never sell it. ( My father passed away in 2012, I know I posted it here after it happened )

  2. Got the little 125 running. Drained the tank, cleaned the carb. changed the oil and the boy was off and riding. He rode it up and down the hill until dark. Thanks Walt and nice meeting you.

  3. @redkow97 This is a good topic. My dad had a bike before me, he has always had a bike. He made time for both kids and bike. He rode to work and went on rides with friends. My first ride was around the block at 3-4 (i say in front of him). As we got older he would take us on rides one at a time for 10-15 min. each. When we could be alone at home for longer periods he took us for longer rides. He went on rides with friends while we stayed with grandma. My step dad got his bike when I was a kid....he also sold me my first bike. I thought my dad's were the coolest dad's ever.

  4. That is retarded advice. Different depths beside each other will rise and fall at different rates as the seasons change.

  5. Only on OR can a thread migrate from 'Hi, I'm new here!!' to crappy IT people to horse porn to balancing kids/bike.

  6. If kids are viewing porn and I don't stop it I am a felon. 5 years. I don't go to jail if they get past the filter, but if they get past it, I know and don't fix that issue then I am going away. Need to apply the same law to Parents. If your kid is searching for horse porn and you don't stop it you go to jail.

  7. my samsung set is going on 5 years, so far so good. appliances are overall garbage now though. just bite the bullet and pucker up buttercup cause it's totally a russian (chinese) roulette nowadays when it comes to home appliances. i have a pretty nice (and expensive) jenn air fridge and range/oven that came with our house that was we moved into 5 years ago (appliances are like 10 years old now) that have been having issues. at my old house that I rent, the appliances there are WAY older, shittier and probably less than 1/4 what these cost and they still work the way they're supposed to. knock on wood.

  8. Welcome to OR! Tonic is in school IT (i.e. busting kids looking at porn and screwing with teachers) and Casper is a "DB Consultant" (i.e. I surf Reddit and the like while traveling the globe). Don't let them fool you.

  9. Finally finished getting my new plastics painted and installed. All other maintenance done and ready for the next trackday. Thoughts on getting the wheels powder coated the same color orange? I wanted to before i got it all together, but now i'm thinking it would look better keeping them grey.

  10. i secretly strapped my then infant daughter with one of those ergo baby things and took a couple rides around my neighborhood on my scooter. a few horrified looks from passing by stay at home moms later, smiling daddy and daughter

  11. Nice scheme. Maybe just do the rear wheel orange? Or leave it be? Either way, the bike looks trick

  12. That looks really great. I would just accent the rims with the orange. That flat section on the outside if the rim near the lip/bead.

  15. I got off while my kid was little, didn't even own a bike. Never regretted it, kids are the most important thing we do with our lives.

  16. I'll be headed south here in about 40 min. (At work till 3) I'll get the roads all warmed up for the trip next month. Today's itinerary is to get close to Knoxville tonight via freeway so tommorows riding will be more fun. If you want to be a saker and shit you can track me here. http://www.greenalp.com/RealtimeTracker/index.php?viewuser=2talltim

  17. Just this morning Carie gave me "the look" when I said if anyone ever hurt our kids something long, drawn out, and horrible would happen to that person involving pliers and a soldering iron. Not sure why those were the first tools to come to mind, but I'm sticking with it.

  18. you're making me feel better about my recent purchase. The 140cc Briggs & Stratton crate motor that was on my last mower was okay, but the 179cc Kawasaki on this one doesn't seem to notice when I go through grass that would stall my old mower, and stalled my dad's Honda i was borrowing. The internet says it's rated for 8.75hp, which I find hilarious, given that my 'race bike' is 100cc and might make 6hp if I'm lucky The Kawasaki/Craftsman also has 6 forward speeds, whereas the bike has 5. The only logical conclusion is to race the mower.

  20. And they are lucky I don't have kids in school. If your kid shows my kid horse porn I am beating your ass.

  21. I have heard Samsung washers last much longer if you use Mobil 1.

  22. Take it off. I promise. It's nasty underneath it. Takes like 30 minutes total. Very easy to do, and lots of YouTube videos showing you exactly how. Definitely worth it.

  23. Funny you should mention that. Yesterday bunch of kindergartners looking at porn. The terms they search for are sad.... girls sucking dick... women peeing....Breaks my heart that the world has progressed to this. Nothing wrong with that kind of thing just not at that age. Be a kid at least for a few years. Parents suck, there is no doubt about it.

  24. When I bought my house the owner left me the Cub Cadet riding tractor and said it didn't run. I pulled the valve covers and as mentioned above a rocker arm came loose and fell off. I retightened and got 5 years of nonstop mowing out of it before we sold it for a bigger tractor.

  28. Also will add my dad has a Cabrio HE top load and it's going on 8 year now, with zero problems.
    1 point
  29. Stay away from any of the "HE" top or front loads. They are shit only last 4-7 years and are very costly to repair. Go to a proper appliance dealer that carries Speed Queen commercial products and you can buy a washer and dryer with 25 year and life time warranty for under your budget. The washer is around $700-$750 and the dryer is less. Spent crazy money on LG appliances that had "10 year warranty" it covers shit and both were broke in less than 5 years. Went Speed Queen and could not be happier! As a bonus your clothes will actually be clean in 20 minutes rather than still dirty 2 hours later.

  31. Meh, if I come to hear your story I don't want to hear what's in your speech. I want to hear what's in your heart. You have a compelling story to tell... Just speak, people will listen.

  32. I had that happen once. Pulled off the valve covers and the rocker slipped off. Popped it back on and it's been good to go for the last 3 years.

  33. Boy that sounds like a real extreme event. And I find it pretty hard to believe it was running on one cylinder and you never noticed. Get a compression gauge from the local auto parts store, they have loaners and recheck that part first.

  34. Husqvarna shouldn't break like that... For what you paid for the unit, I would expect it to be worth repairing. The small engine/mower shops I have been calling seem like great little businesses to support. I forget what your trailer situation is these days, but I would have it fixed, or at least consider that before replacing it.

  35. WTF....he didn't even ask his buddy about his bike?

  36. Why the hell cant people follow simple instructions? i would tell him to bust the whole thing up and do what you asked him to do in the first place. His loss.
