In. I know this place and the area. It is where I always stay when I am not with you folks. It is perfect. I suggested it last year but it was too late to change. Casper forgot I mentioned it and refound the place on his own. So we have the positive opinion of someone that usually hates everything and a retard independently. So we are good to go. You folks will love this place. And yea, you get Foothills Pkwy and the dragon first thing with no traffic. It also makes Maggie Valley and all those amazing roads reachable.4 points

Shannon and I were traipsing around in TN/NC/GA today. We rode to Clayton down 28, and due to weather we turned around with the intentions of finding alternate riding North. In Franklin I decided to go to Robbinsville for lunch. Check the GPS and saw Wayah Road looked great from the map, was clear of rain, and I remembered the name having been tossed around as a good ride. But if I recall, the condition was in question. I proceeded ahead, hoping to add its curves to my local knowledge, and lo and behold, the middle section has been repaved. 5 miles at each end are still a little rough, though not bad at all. Maybe 80/100. But the middle 20 miles is brand new asphalt. And damn is it a nice stretch of curves. There's a sweeper on that road better than any in the area. Amazing. Anyway, thought someone would appreciate the report. Have at it! Wayah Road is back!3 points

Countdown to blast off!!! ----------------------------------- Important stuff You are responsible for yourself. This is an "at your own risk" event. Motorcycling is dangerous. All roads are dangerous, but especially these. Be careful. Ohio Riders LLC and the owners of Ohio Riders LLC cannot be held liable for anything (like, but not limited to, traffic tickets, accidents, stupidity, death, etc). ----------------------------------- What is this? Ride your own ride. Enjoy the weekend. Be safe. This is not a competition or a race. This is just a good weekend away with friends new and old. It just happens to be a weekend for a bunch of us to meetup down there to have some fun. The weekend is up to you. When you come down, where you ride, who you ride with, where you eat, where you stay, etc is completely up to you. Nothing is officially organized. There are no set routes. There will be shindigs in the evenings involving a campfire for us to sit around and tell lies. ----------------------------------- Dates June 20-24, 2018 Yes, the dates changed. You can blame me if this causes any issues. My daughter's birthday lands on Thursday in 2018. ----------------------------------- Lodging We're changing it up for 2018. We've reserved all of Townsend Gateway Inn. That's 45 beds in total. Townsend Gateway Inn offers a lot of cool stuff for us. There's a conference room we can use for free, grills on the property, a pool, two fire pits (they even supply the wood for us), BBQ onsite, several restaurants nearby (including Trailside Steakhouse for those like me who were craving steak this last trip), wifi that actually works, cell phone reception, two miles from the entrance to Smokey Mountain National Park, etc. There are even a few gas stations and grocery/convenience stores nearby. It's only 45 minutes away from the dragon and (according to @Tonik) the roads are awesome. For those who like to head down to Georgia, it doesn't add much to the time/mileage. For those who want to dual sport, there are tons of gravel/dirt roads nearby. There are several others motels in Townsend if you'd like to stay somewhere else or if we sell out. Little River Bar BQ is across the street (suppose to be really good), as is River Rage Tubing for anyone who wants to go tubing. For those looking to camp, Ye Olde Mill Campground is across the street next to the tubing place, and several other campgrounds are just down the road. And for @OsuMj and anyone she suckers into hiking, the Townsend Historical Trail runs right in front of the motel. Townsend Gateway Inn 8270 State Hwy 73 Townsend, TN 37882 map The rates shown below include all taxes. This is an estimate per night based on four nights. 3 - Cottages, max occupancy 4 (1 queen bed, 1 sleeper sofa or futon, $130.82/night) 2 - Suite, max occupancy 6 (2 queen beds, 1 sleeper sofa, $126.23/night) 8 - Double Queen Rooms, max occupancy 4 (2 queen beds, $104.43/night) 8 - Single King Rooms, max occupancy 2 (1 king bed, $99.84/night) 9 - Single Queen Rooms, max occupancy 2 (1 queen bed, $99.84/night) Pictures of the rooms/cottages. The cottages also have a full kitchen, picnic table, and grill. All rooms require confirmed reservations with a credit card. Any unconfirmed rooms will be released back to the motel. Confirmed reservations that are cancelled less than 14 days prior to arrival will be subject to a cancellation fee equal to 1 night plus tax. And hiking trails all the way to fontana!! There are some good trails around there. I'm excited already. I don't know what I'm going to do without the entertainment of waking up to Shawn swinging a fireplace shovel repeatedly as a mouse zigzags across the floor... guess I'll just manage with the clean rooms and functional appliances...2 points

I'm going to write my premium on my insurance cards so the next year when they send me a bill and I need to replace the card anyway I won't have to look up what I was paying before. And I'm going to post it on ohioriders to keep me from forgetting.2 points

Cabin was nothing special but fairly clean. I really didn't spend much time there because the weather was great and I was there to ride motorcycles not watch tv. The down side for me was not being able to contact home most of the time and a long way to go for a 12pk of Miller lite. Upside is leaving or coming back you get to rip down 28 and being able to bullshit around the fire at night without anybody bitching is pretty cool2 points

What was shitty about the lodge room? We had a mouse and the stove shocked Joel. I'd love to find a new place. And of course you're part of the group, man.2 points

Came home last night, or early morning 5 am. Rode all night so jr can just sleep in car and not be fuzzy during day time. I hope he remembers this when he grows up, that his dad despite living right in the middle of motorcycle paradise for a week / just rode one day with friends for namesake, and instead chose to the Ride with him on little go around piggies bees and ducks in Dollywood instead.2 points

So my buddy and I are trailering our WR250R's to Colorado starting Friday evening 6/9/17. To start, we will be spending 4 days at the MSTA STAR event: http://ridemsta.com/srblog/star-2017/ Then we intend to ride much of the southern portion of the COBDR: http://ridebdr.com/COBDR from north to south and will be camping off the bikes as much as possible. Then somehow find a mosltly unpaved route back to Colorado Springs. It will be a reactionary plan, as some of the passes may still be closed. If many of the passes remain closed, we may head into Utah...we shall see. I intend to use "Bubbler GPS Lite" application to track my position via Spotwalla. I should be able to be followed here: https://spotwalla.com/publicTrips.php?un=qman This a cell phone-based tracking app, so i may not have good coverage in many spots. I have very little off-road experience!...so wish me luck!1 point

i been scourging the internet for some time for a lighter bike, but as always never knew exactly what i want just a general theme. This time was in double mind, a lighter bike with some off road prowess to experience some real adv rides vs a lighter bike which i can take to track to exp track days. After tons of reading was sure there was no one good answer. But after thinking a lot and realizing more and more when i see Dans ride reports etc, i am not made out for such ruthless manly man rides fighting bears off and sleeping on top of tree etc. I mean i struggled a lot of years to get here not to do these any more hehehe But some day i am gonna grow a pair again and jump into those. Thus choice was narrowed to lighter bike that i can push around with my puny little body strength and possibly load into a trailer. Plus reasonably comfortable for single long day rides. So SS bikes were out. I want to get to track days and experience and learn more stuff, at the same time extrapolate that to real world riding in streets where i will still be doing most miles. and this way i hope to bring in some balance to family and my personal vacation time by trailering bike around and if at all possible get one day of riding which definitely makes a big difference. And thus narrowed the results further. After all this wall of txt, final decision making process was as simple as forest gump.. just went to gap..rode a striple... went into my head database of "zillion bikes for sale at night".com .. remembered seeing a clean striple... texted him sunday ...today was my last off day for next 1 month almost... just went to see it....... My first challenge i put on myself was if i dont feel comfortable doing "trailering" stuff i wouldn't buy it. Went to uhaul to check it out, It turns out to be an easy walk in the park, and there by shattering all my hopes of walking away from this maddness. Next obstacle i put on my mind was, if its not clean as he described i am walking away ....went in ...just wanted to see if it was as clean as he said... coz the price was fair not a steal deal. Saw the guy, older gentlemen very professional..heated garage.. And it was cleeeean ... like @Al Z. Heimer care level. Looked better than some show room stuff i seen. Oil /Brake Fluids like clear water Didnt feel like beating up the guys price and effort he put into it. And ended up bringing it home. i guess i might as well just embrace who i am. Just a mad mad motoholic fuxer i guess lol ... Sad part is i was getting to know the feejer real well after around 5 k miles on it. Hopefully i get to keep both. I usually dont do more than one bike at a time. Second sad part is i kept myself away from track days due to the trailering woes and worries. Now i realize its not a big deal, i am going to be in big trouble soon. Especially with Nelson black top ready plus a mid ohio certificate in my pocket already ........ dddddayuuuum need to resist. First time using a trailer in my life/ like driving loading etc/ tie downs etc/ will be another month before i even get to ride it, i mean might not even get time to plate it the way schedule is looking like for next one month.1 point

Also, Hops in the Hills (a craft beer festival in Maryville, TN) is usually the same weekend for those who want to check that out. If enough people are interested, might be worth checking about a taxi/shuttle to take us.1 point

Jeff posted a nice EX250 (2008 - the good-looking body style) on the OMRL facebook page. $1800 and it has less than 11,000 miles. Perfect first bike. https://www.facebook.com/groups/317652788389075/ Per my conversation (posted on that FS thread), he's looking to free up funds for something else. Make him a cash offer. Worst he can say is "no."1 point

Hard to tell, but I'm flipping off the line of Harleys in front of me that wouldn't let me pass them. They even crossed the double yellow to keep me from passing. https://xtremesportsphotography.photoreflect.com/store/Orderpage.aspx?pi=0QAK02P9050553&po=553&pc=34341 point

2wheel Inn in Robbinsville looks like it would hold us. It's more of a motel-like setup, but each room has an attached bike garage, a breakfast/dinner steakhouse on site, laundry, 19 rooms available. $80/night http://twowheelinn.com1 point

Rooms smelled like mold mildew. Ceiling in the shower looked like they just painted over black mold. (Vent didn't work and likely hadn't worked in a LONG time). A/c unit ran non stop. 8sec was longest Gap of "off" time. Room just felt dirty. Asked for a different room and didn't get one. This morning I went to the restaurant in the lodge for breakfast. Took 5 mins to be seated with no one waiting in front of me (not a big deal). After that waitress brought my drink then avoided me the entire time. After waiting 30 mins to order I tracked down a different waitress to order. Took forever getting bill. The place was almost empty. Two other groups I talked with had same experience with service. After leaving breakfast pissed went to front desk to talk the GM. "Front desk manager" wouldn't let me talk to gm said they busy. I explained my poor experience this year and "front desk manager" was indifferent to the situation and told me she would just talk to wait staff and that was it. Feeling like I was getting shafted I told them to cancel my next night stay and I wouldn't be back. Tl;dr shitty experience manager basically told me to f off Fontana-never again. And why have wifi if it doesn't work? For anyone that doesn't know me I travel for work and have been in PLENTY of hotels in the last three years. Worst hotel experience in that time.1 point

Smushed my ankle a little bit, but nothing serious... might have chipped the paint a little bit, but no biggie. I laid in the yard, reached over and hit the kill switch, laughed at myself, called Howard and asked him to come help me. All the riding that we did, the gravel, the deer, the uneven pavement, etc. I dump it in the driveway1 point
