Only thing that I have changed is riding to work. I don't want tire tracks in the kitchen.6 points

This was not how I imagined the last few days in Ohio to be. I was hoping to meet and ride with every awesome folks i met through our the years. I think it will be safe for me to brag that I have met with most number of OR folks and rode with them over the years than the rest of you all. Not just group rides but through PMs and all have met with those “shy” OR Members who don’t post much but still wanted to give group rides a chance etc. From that collection of over 150 active riders spread 10 yrs only like 30 active folks left. And will miss you all and these roads (not this weather) I am not exaggerating but being honest when I say most of you folks has been closest to family and friends for me. I might not show it in words and deeds since I am socially awkward but truly appreciate that OR existed and got the chance to meet and ride with you all. I still wished I could meet few more regular OR peeps who I never got to meet. End of April I finish work here, I had taken 40 days off and was planning to travel with family. We been planning for these days for almost a year as this is the first true extended holiday we were getting. But alas things have changed completely. Timed my move from Ohio around May 15 so I would have 2 free weeks to meet and ride with you all again in these amazing roads once more before I left. Alas that opportunity is in question as well. I was hoping to post one last epic ride thread, hoping to have a multiday WV tour, was hoping to hit the track once more before I left. All plans got sidelined. But I will still Try to do a “social distance friendly ride” with at least few of you before I pack up. As long as we stay in our bike fully geared and ride safe without risk of crash I still vouch for motorcycling during these times, but then again I am biased. To communicate we can stay far away and use our Sena right Tonik hope you guys still continue with the gap trips, I hope to make it there at the same time. May be another Marion Virginia 3 day trip, that’s a spot we can meet and explore lot of good roads. Anyways just 20ish days left and the nostalgia is too much to handle, deep down I am a romantic I guess. Most of all I really miss Jerry. I know it would have been a difficult good bye with him, but we already did that part Been watching lot of video of rides we did together, dayuuum those were some good times. I started tying out personal goodbye to folks in this thread and that became too huge too long. Delete, trim. Will just text you all asshats 😆 Hope to see and ride with you all some day again soon. 👍 Ride on Ride safe2 points

I know you will make something great happen down there Nivin! I wish we got to ride more together, but enjoyed the time that we did. You might be a little self conscious and feel that you're socially awkward in your own words, but the things you endured and risked to get you and your family to where you are always struck me as very courageous and daring far beyond what I thought you gave yourself credit for and certainly more than i can say for most of these goons around here (myself included). You're a great dude, a great dad, and you deserve every bit of goodness that comes your way.2 points

Oh I learned long ago not to listen to him on what pace is or may be. He advertised a ride starting near Youngstown once. It was Mach Retard before we even left the meetup point.2 points

So what @NinjaDoc is trying to say is get covid BEFORE you crash so you don't catch it in the hospital? Roger. Heading out to find a toilet seat to lick right now. 👍2 points

I plan to ride as often as I can. Nobody can predict the future. If anything, the roads are safer now. Traffic is gone. This month I have driven to Wisconsin, Indiana, Illinois and down 77 to Charlotte last Friday, home on Saturday..back to Charlotte on Wednesday and I should be home by Wednesday. The freeway through the mountains has been enjoyable for a change. I am working my ass off keeping distribution centers open, but am restricted to car travel within 700 miles, or 10 hours. Once the country begins to open up, I will be fucked. You bet your ass I am taking advantage of this opportunity. Call it selfish, irresponsible... call it whatever you like. My mental health isn't going to suffer because of this. I need to ride my bike.2 points

Hey, we ride NCBike Nivin, I'm glad we got together last year and got to ride with you on track. You have been one that I've considered instrumental to my riding and my mindset towards riding. I do not think I would be the rider I am today if it weren't for your guidance. Good luck on the move, may your family stay happy and healthy. And maybe you can join us down at NCBike when things get opened back up again. Also, YOLO posting these pics because you wont be around to kick my ass. Nivin got his knee down this day gentleman, and I was fortunate enough to be behind him and watch it scare him.1 point

Doc, good Luck on the move. Glad to be of the few that got to ride with you although it was not as much as I would have liked. You are a good, fast rider. Family first!1 point

@NinjaDoc would tell you to slow down, but as soon as he hits a good twisty road those restrictions get loosened up. 😁1 point

I have not changed any habits, particularly riding. I've been out every weather permitting day this spring.1 point

Riding is a risk we accept. Riding now increases the risk. I will still ride, but I am slowing down considerably.1 point

I work with chains moving 200+ ft/min. My motorcycle has neither chain, nor respiratory system. Clearly, I am safer on the bike than I am at work.1 point

The area I cover at least is not In panic stretched staff and system, ER is not flooded than usual, floors are less crowded since non covid cases drastically dropped. It’s like people finally decided to take meds on time, not skip dialysis then show up at er or simply not just walk into hospital on a whim. but if you have to end up going to the ED from a get off, you can almost guarantee yourself your getting it. Again as I previously mentioned I don’t know the right answer, scratch that right answer will be don’t ride but it’s not the perfect answer. During these stressful times riding is the only thing I look forward to, riding is the only way to attain nirvana without bothering others directly.1 point

The masks are much more effective at protecting others from a possibly infected mask wearer. Gloves for the casual user really doesn't do much. Like mentioned above, I have reduced the number of trips to the store, but when I need stuff I go. I can and do work from home and we have for the most part remained home. But really that is the point of all of these restrictions, it is not to stop the spread of this virus but to slow the spread but reducing the mobility and number of contacts of most of the population. This keeps the demand on the health care resources below the availability. I'm more worried about the severe economic impact of the lock down than I am of the disease. My family is most likely going to be OK, but there are going to be many who are really going really impacted by this. The foreclosures, bankruptcies and business closures is going to be a severe drain on the economy for a long time.1 point
