  1. I moved to columbus from Austin texas a year ago for a job Brought with me my 2.5RS ive been daily driving for 11 years, and having quite a bit of fun with as well (had cams, bushings, JDM seats, prodrive/bilstein suspension, etc by the end) http://farm9.staticflickr.com/8367/8418278753_882f96873c_b.jpg http://farm9.staticflickr.com/8065/8204223896_96fe3698ac_b.jpg http://www.rs25.com/forums/attachment.php?attachmentid=58559&d=1399381208 http://www.rs25.com/forums/attachment.php?attachmentid=58560&d=1399381208 http://www.rs25.com/forums/attachment.php?attachmentid=58562&d=1399381208 http://farm9.staticflickr.com/8201/8203134241_468ecbe31b_b.jpg There is quite a lot of rallyx action going on down there these days so I played in that, and drove it at harris hill (road course) http://farm9.staticflickr.com/8020/7256870124_d92a71d46f_o.jpg But I want to spend more time driving road courses. Its what I love. The Subaru was A JOY to drive, but that much grip and that much power just weren’t going to satisfy my cravings. So I sold it this past weekend and picked up a nice daily / work horse / tow vehicle (’14 tacoma). I want something rwd, irs, light, and simple for motorsports fun. Raw, challenging, that would force me to learn. and I love vintage styling (and V8s). After some time (considering a factory five 33 hot rod, E30 or E36 bmw, CTS-V) I came back to the 240Z and it was undoubtedly exactly what I was looking for. Luckily, shortly after I had moved here my buddy who helped me move was coming back through to trailer his pikes peak car to Toronto, so on his way back down I had him pick me up this in buffalo 72 240z: L28, webers, 5 spd, and pretty much everything else completely original (even the spare) http://farm9.staticflickr.com/8233/8599896641_bf8790b538_b.jpg http://farm9.staticflickr.com/8509/8599899585_3e91b26846_b.jpg http://farm9.staticflickr.com/8525/8599900075_075010f3af_b.jpg Progress has been slow on the (learned how much working in a garage in winter here sucks) but it should be out and about in the next month or so. I’ll do a full update once its on the road but so far have completely redone all suspension and brakes (all new ball joints etc, koni shocks, ground control coils, rear disc brakes, Toyota 4x4 front calipers) and replaced all bushings with polyurethane. The webers were pretty beat and way out of tune so traded them for a well built set of high performance SUs (factory 240 carbs). Once its running solid itll get a LSD, race seats and roll bar. As I said the idea is to get into as much road racing as possible, hoping to work out the kinks at nelson ledges (though I hear it may be closing?) and also hit mid ohio before the year is through (maybe that June 6-8 NASA HPDE?). but really ill probably take advantage of about any excuse to drive it, autox, drift, whatever – happy to be a member here and hoping to find all the options there are to bring it out in central ohio! Oh, and also, I picked up this thing cheap, planning as a rallyx toy and maybe chump/lemons one day. Its currently having some idle/starting problems I just haven’t taken the time to work on but for a long while was a real reliable little beater, even took it camping. I may also just sell it, as its really just been a distraction from the Datsun and Im afraid it may keep doing just that. http://farm4.staticflickr.com/3674/9909625605_0bf99497f5_b.jpg As it sits now *almost* ready to rumble; put on 04 sti suspension and a few other things http://www.rs25.com/forums/attachment.php?attachmentid=56940&stc=1&d=1388636232

  4. Someone who is organizing this may want to call the Morgan county Sheriff's office to see if OH-669 W,out of Malta, is passable along the river, on the morning of the ride, due to high water. Two alternate routes to connect with OH-669 W, are: OH-78 WOH-37 WOH-555 N (only five miles)OH-669 W ...and, if you don't want to risk OH-555 with potentially newer riders: OH-78 W OH-37 W OH-93 NOH-669 W But, I'm not the planner. Morgan county Sheriff's office Telephone: 740-962-4044 .

  6. Put a new starter in a gold wing for a guy I know from the bar. He's owned the bike for 15 or so years and the starter was always bad. Shop told him motor would have to come out to change it and wanted Hundreds of dollars. I did it with only removing the shifter and charged him $75. Never seen a man so happy to have his bike start right up with one thumb of the button.

  8. I do not agree. Not only do I find our Tahoe under powered and piss poor in the mpg dept, I also think it is uncomfortable and don't like the way it rides even with the new shocks. Dori however loves it as do most soccer moms, I question your man card.

  9. I pass horses in Amish Country all the time. Never seen one do that. If I come up behind a horse/buggy I slow down to pass and coast by. However, I just continue about my business when it's in the other lane...just like any other traffic.

  10. My neighbor is a member of The Ohio Patriot Guard Riders. He invited me to go on a mission last week and I accepted. In the interest of privacy, I will not go in to detail, but the whole experience was amazing. I had no idea what these guys actually do. It was interesting, humbling, and made me very proud to be an American. These guys are self funded for the most part, and participate only at the invitation of a family member. Thank you Fred Phelps. 15. Jason I will text you some time either late friday or real early Saturday to let you know if I'm going to make it. Again it all depends on weather or not I can get any sleep friday night. Fuck night shift. Troy/Piqua/Sydney guys are meeting at rest stop at 6:30. I may try to catch you all at the 55 exit and just fall in behind the group. Also I plan on putting the top box and tank bag onto the bike. I will have room for clothes and jacket liners as the are being shed.

  18. Jesus it's a horse, they are stupid and they freak out when something they don't understand goes by in a roar at even 50 mph. No they don't get used to it, they are stupid horses. So be careful when you see a horse on the road. You should be hardcore on the brakes, clutch in and zero throttle to keep the noise down. If one of them kills you having 'It was the horses fault' on your tombstone really won't matter much to you. Or maybe it will, at least you will be right on the internets.

  26. I'm going to toss out the reccomendation of wiring this all up to a relay. I used my running lights as the signal for the relay, which provides power directly from the battery for my outlet and heated grips. I wouldn't power anything though existing circuits and fuses, as that's outside the original design criteria. I get all the benefit of direct to battery wiring, with a power source that switches with the key. $5 relay.

  30. Some people try too hard. Hell, the cars never actually drive and they don't even measure fuel usage per say. They measure tailpipe emmisions and apply a correction factor. But it is a standard method that would likely be repeatable. And that's what we got. Most cars aren't even tested. Just a small percentage. The rest are based upon the manufacturer claims. This is how you get cases like Hyundai last year having to admit on many of their cars that the ratings were too optimistic. They still get great mileage, just not quite as good as they say. Hyundai gave away free gas cards to cover the difference. I'm personally happy we get a rating as a baseline. It's likely a car rated at 20 mpg will always get less than one rated at 30 mpg with the same driver and techniques.

  32. I have the Harbor Freight trailer and it is great. I fold it up and put in behind my car in the garage when not in use. Keeps it out of the elements. Doesn't really take up that much room. If you do go that route, you HAVE to grease the wheel bearings before you ever use it. They put barely any grease in there and you'll burn them up pretty quick.

  34. The horse wasn't attacking it was in flight mode after being scared by the first passing bike. I have been raising horses for the past 15 years and my wife has been around horses for over 40. The first lesson you learn is you can never fully trust a horse.A bag blowing across a paddock or pasture can set them off. Horse have a huge flight instinct and will run if spooked. I has to do about common sense.

  35. nice. my backup plan was going to be to offer up the clutch lever assembly from my street bike, so I'm glad it didn't come to that! (I have to remove the lever to replace a bent one with a new part, so it's coming off soon anyway)

  36. I didn't see any indication she slowed down when approaching the horse and buggy. Dumb ass refers to both of them and anyone that does that on a bike or in a car. That is how people and animals get killed.

  37. I solder every wire connection I make and seal it with liquid tape Saves you a butt load of trouble later learned the hard way on boat trailers if there is any chance of it getting wet do not use those cheap connectors and going strait of the battery would not be a problem if you use a fuse in the line. If you are only running a GPS or Phone a 5 amp fuse would be plenty if you are going to run something with more power draw you can always change the fuse to a higher one.

  38. I just wired mine up Sunday. 3 cig outlet with 2 usb. Battery Tender jumper off the battery hooks right to it. Fused circuit, negative grounded. Shut down for the winter, unhook the power port and plug in the Tender. Cake walk, took me sub-5 minutes to run it cleanly ( maybe 10 minutes if you need to add the jumper off your battery too ). Cost was $20 because of the extension I needed to the SAE connector. http://www.eklipes.com/EK1-122 Wish I'd have ordered this setup instead since mines in a tankbag, but I went with what was in stock locally
