  1. I used it for quite a while. Mostly to re-learn to balance diet and help control blood pressure. It is a very good app. I'm not going running. But I would take a fast hike with 20-30 pound pack. 10-20 miles.
  2. GPSTracker. It is meant for bike/car/truck, but tracks on foot ok. One bad part is it can stop tracking completely without saying anything if it loses signal. Annoying. edit: and I found a GPS topographical off road navigation app and managed to load free topographical maps. edit: lost 5 pounds, now 165.
  3. my droid doesn't freeze up for a reboot. But it does brick with every update. Which isn't often. Show me an iphone and apps that can do all that the droid does, and I'll call it even not better. edit: iphone line = hungry hungry sheep always wait till that day to get service and repairs. you get to walk past the line and right in it makes the line so sad and confused...
  4. Yes. It is the front wheel all the way. Nothing else matters much.
  5. Agreed that leaning won't turn a corner, but it will turn enough to change lanes or swoop through sweepers. I'm pretty sure that riding with "no hands" covers the "leaning will turn". And don't go out and try this. It's not worth a crash.
  6. I lean toward big battle rifles for 308. A FN FAL of some sort would be a good choice. But I wouldn't turn down an Springfield M1A1 either.
  7. D30 back protector $21.99 British Pounds 21.99 GBP = 34.9762 USD Icon D30 back protector at Revzilla $25.00 Here's the product list at the website: http://www.d3o.com/markets/motorcycle/ What I see in a google search is that currently Icon and Klim sell back, shoulder, and knee inserts. https://www.google.com/#hl=en&ie=UTF-8&psj=1&q=d30%20motorcycle&tab=wf&tbm=shop&um=1 ok, and Furygan, and MSR
  8. True, they have excellent package deals. If anyone could ever catch them in stock. A 6.8 and one 5.56 kit are in stock right now. All others are still out of stock.
  9. Ha, any 5 year old can pop one of those open. I use a carabiner hooked on structure near the tank, where it can swing out for the helmet strap. It's so tight to the side of the tank you can't get the helmet off without removing the seat. And a lightweight cable with a seperate lock for running through the sleeves of a jacket and locking to the forks/triple. All fits under the seat. Have to use it at some places I work at, they won't allow the gear inside.
  10. Just goofing around. Wanted to see what a build costs, in general. Used AR15partsfinder.com, and then searched amazon.com. Obviously can beat prices and/or shipping at gunshows and some gunshops. But in general, approximately $650 for parts, $100 for shipping. Shipping is generally cheaper at amazon.com, but some parts are higher priced. And with careful watching and searching, most all of the prices can be found cheaper yet. No sights calculated. 11. ha, this week I watched a woman in a mini van roll a four way stop as I approached from the side. She never once looked up. Head down looking at something in her hands. She slowed, and then accelerated. She did not once look up or left or right... Texting... sometimes wish I had an really loud air horn...
  12. The mil-spec design rules I worked with, said that a proper crimp style connector is a better conductor than a solder joint. A solder joint will also crack from vibration and fail, over time and heat and abuse. Either way, a good strain relief, or shrink tubing, to protect the connections is good. When I was a kid, I tried wire nuts. They fell off immediately. Not meant for vibration. Live and learn.
  13. Yeah, I've done it to bikes and cars. Once under a van's dash. That one could have resulted in a fire.
  14. Exactly that. It was a feeding frenzy. Private companies that were not accountable, generating revenue at an ever increasing pace, with no regard for anything except their own income. Enough is enough, they went too far.
  15. From experience with high amp connectors, any corrosion will cause resistance, heat and a melt down. Make sure all the relevant connections are very clean, and capable of the load. And stay that way.
  16. I never move right through there, unless exiting. I move left and stay out of the way. More intense when trying to merge left into that cluster with a bike. Like from 71S to 270E.
  17. I heard the satellite saw more of an increase than that. Quite a lot more. I also noticed the next day the news was flooded with the opposite view, That omg the ice all melted last year we're doomed. edit: here's a good phys.org article about how it's a cycle based on the Earth's orbit and wobble over millenia, and pretty much doesn't have anything to do with us puny humans. Ok carbon does, but the Earth trumps. http://phys.org/news/2013-08-earth-orbit-key-antarctic-ice.html .
  18. Yeah, I need a louder horn. We used to get dual horns from the junkyard and use them. I had a couple of merges on me a while back, but none lately. I tend to ride along side really close and stare at them. They usually go back out of my lane. Actually, always get out of my lane. Risky, but I'm not actually looking at them, I'm watching their front wheel for turning into me. They don't know that.
  19. Concept first brought forward by Iran on September 2. Although at the time it was thought to be Russia's idea for a solution.
  20. That would not surprise me at all.
  21. DC-3 is a beautiful aircraft. Always will be. edit: I ran outside down in Florida, to see three DC-3 Dakota in low level formation, spraying for mosquitoes. Quite impressive to see. The outfit has five of them, last I heard. http://i.huffpost.com/gen/778273/thumbs/s-PESTICIDE-SPRAY-large.jpg
  22. lol, how to launch a Piper J-3 Cub seaplane from land: No video available on how to land a seaplane on a runway without wheels. But if you really want to know, they just land on wet grass next to the runway. Where possible. And hope they don't tip over and hit the prop. edit: ok ok, it wasn't that hard... And the same yellow Cub landing on grass. Look how short the landing is!
  23. Never give up. The posting was from me, but it was hidden under a title that didn't reflect what it actually was.
  24. Mostly an atmospheric investigator. Almost no atmosphere there, but they want to check it out anyway. And checking out the dust. We're getting to the level where we want to build stuff on the moon, manned or unmanned. Misson Overview --Ultraviolet and Visible Light Spectrometer --Neutral Mass Spectrometer --Lunar Dust Experiment --Lunar Laser Communications Demonstration Dust is a important issue. The Apollo missions had no idea that they'd run into dust that would cling to everything, get all over and inside everything they had. It was a worry, it could have damaged equipment. I don't think we've got a method to keep it under control yet. It's a mess. And it smells funny. It smells like gunpowder. Which is probably residue from the solar wind, not the dusty soil. The government probably won't put many people on the Moon. Neither will the military. It will be civilians looking for a new frontier to conquer.
