  1. i still think it's a better idea to get signed on as a full time (hourly) employee. you lay out your scope of work, but worst case scenario, they fire you for being incompetent... you get on board as a contractor via LLC or sole prop., or whatever, then you gotta worry about all the other crap that comes with it and you can get fired AND sued if you dont write up your contract right. i say get hired as employee, get benefits (even if they are meager) and represent yourself as a good foundation to their end goal, not the end all, be all.

quit yer cryin', this thread is now about porn hands and hand jobs gone wrong.
  5. i just wanted to point how much of a gaylord you are. heh gaylord. i think that had more to do with dates not being available but hopefully, next year we'll have a date when it isn't snowing (i heard that weekend wasn't bad, but a day or two prior, it was snowing apparently lol)
  6. i have used Gaetano in the past (independent shipper). not sure if he's still in the biz, but doesn't hurt to ask. i'll pm you his info.
  7. maybe if you'd join in next year, i could tow you around instead. it is tiring to ride that hard, so it'd be nice to have a break.
  8. no... fucking... way!!!! so jelly
  9. got one on my race bike. i generally think all can are the same, they just vary in workmanship and material quality. can't really go all that wrong. modding your bike is good fun, just expensive (that's why i try to buy bikes that already have all the stuff i would do to it done)
  10. neat bike! welcome to the site! someone can finish this post with a rhyme tonight. boyyyyyyyyyyyyy
  11. their more attractive female staff should dress more scantily like a frequent shopper program might help too. for a while there, i was spending quite a bit with them, especially when i had just gotten into the whole bikes thing
  12. i just watched the video, and holy shit, i hope everyone gave uncle punk some rep for that epic beard.
  13. i think a lot of people will say that. not me though cause i've been severely neglectful. i think once the babies start flying, i'll probably be more interested in doing longer street rides than weekend long track/race events though.
  14. i didn't mean to put words in your mouth... that's just how i viewed things going down. in my opinion, he would have to charge quite a bit more per hour to justify the investment in money (which he might not have much of, given he lost his job recently), time or both to form and operate a business. throw in more complex business returns and filings (turbo tax wont quite cut it for line by line and more advanced depreciation calcs and he'll want to do those things unless he wants to get raped on his 1099's from the dealership), and adding in 1099's for people he takes on or even payroll, he'll be into it up to his eyeballs... and judging by his posts, it didnt seem like he would want to go that way (stability and decent wages over high wages high risk due to stress and insecurity), and judging by how the dealer approached it, they're wanting to set this system up at a bargain (which is why they're willing to propose this to a younger guy off the street, rather than approaching a IT/com firm). putting in that sort of time and effort to setup a S Corp/llc to do this, i wouldn't want to charge less than $40-50/hr... but at the same time, i'd have a hard time justifying charging that much without having done that sort of thing quite a bit (which it sounds like he hasnt). if i was REALLY good and had lots of experience, and an experienced team, charge those fuckers to the moon... but he's not there yet. this sounds like one of those rare opportunities where the customer is flexible and willing to let you learn on the job because their need isn't desperate, yet. and at the same time, they're not willing to pay out the nose to do it "right" or the traditional way. i think once you prove yourself to them, and have earned enough to have some financial leeway, that would be the perfect time to break off from them and form a consulting firm... but until then, becoming their employee seems to make sense (the benefits that come along with being employed full time are nice too). i hope it works out well for you.
  15. 1. get educated. fast. i hope you're a quick learner cause if you're not, you're going to be even more over your head than you already are 2. take hourly, not salary. you're going to be working a LOT of over time. don't take less than $20/hr +full benefits. honestly, if they're not total cheap asses, aim for 25-30. i dont think the whole "work as a contractor/form llc and charge lots of money" will work because they approached him for the fact that he is probably going to be way cheaper than a consulting firm. 3. find a friend (hopefully, some one who has a bit more experience with the actual work required) and get him to help you. he doesnt have to make as much as you. do everything you can to continue to head the newly formed Jstump IT department. eventually become CIO of that dealer network. get money, get bitches, etc etc

    LOL... Romnesia

i want to find a picture of a libertarian with obama's dick in his mouth, but i can't seem to find it. can someone, anyone halp? i dont want magz to think he's all alooooone in this world.
  17. i have an s3. like it, but i've been using android since my first smart phone. gf has iphone 4s, that is nice as well. played with a 5 a couple friends had. neat phone, good screen, quick and snappy like all iphones are when they first come out. i've had my s3 since july, and it's been great so far. usually 1.5-2 days of battery depending on use. if you're a heavy multimedia user, expect to last .75-1 day. i talk on my phone more than web browse, etc, but i do a fair bit of everything due to biz use. by far, the fastest, most versatile android phone i've had. i have small, flattering hands, and the iphone 5 is a better fit for it than my s3. i kinda wanted a smaller phone, but nothing was out at the time with the features in the size i wanted so i got the s3. i will say that while the screen is fairly ginormous on the s3, it is very thin, light, and rounded off in the right places so you dont notice it as much as.. say, my old droid X (a smaller screen but heavier and thicker). if you have big hands, and dont have a whole lot of other apple stuff to meld it with, you should give the s3 a good look. if you like the apple philosophy (good and/or bad) then stick with the iphone.
  18. looks like the six fitty went down hard once, and then repaired (badly) repainted (badly) and then down again.
  19. this is actually a great time to consider specializing in divorce as an attorney. public opinion has swayed so much to one side that this is the time that gay marriage will be legalized. what follows gay marriage? a myriad of crying, fabulously dressed men filing for divorce, demanding that they retain custody of their boston terriers, or whatever. get in on that hot man on man action!
  20. i'm not a big fan of the 2 wave start, but ridersdiscount brings up a good point. on one of the mock starts on sat, we had a staggered start where the front people were ahead of the rest of the group by 3-5 rows but they started at the same time. that could be the cure for the T1 clusterfuck? or i'm completely delusional, and that didnt actually happen and i'm remembering it all wrong.
  21. it's better in mentor and concord, son. wut wut lake county, son.
  22. at the last nelson race during the 600 sprint, the lot of us were entering the carousel and at just the right moment, the wind picked up and a bunch of leaves were flying through the air as we were pitching it in. amaaaaaziiiiing
  23. you probably killed the battery. go get it tested at autozone to verify
