My original point was referring to the US, not Mexico. That statement was something that's been made NUMEROUS times in this thread and others, and I welcome you to refute those arguments as they pertain to the US. My apologies if I took your quote out of context. That being said, let's talk Mexico. The reasons Mexicans don't "fight their government" are roughly the same as the reasons why Americans don't do the same, even though, as you point out, we are much better/heavily armed per capita than our Mexican counterpart. We/They don't do for a variety of reasons, but the notable ones are complacency (Mexicans, for the most part, are largely happy and don't want to see massive bloody upheaval, we are that taken to a completely higher level), and the understanding that your potential adversary is much more heavily armed than you will ever hope to be to secure victory. When the local police station is packing 25 fully-auto M4's, and you have a good idea that the cruiser next you probably has a full-auto weapon in the trunk, with 20 more of those just a radio call away along with a APC, helicopter air support, and whatever other toys the Army supplied them with, do you really think that your clutched tacticool AR-15 in one hand and well-worn copy of Red Dawn in the other stands a chance? To quote one of my favorite shows: "When you play the Game of Thrones, you either win, or you die." Mexicans understand this as well, even more so that the Army does not have the same Posse Comitatus provision that the US Armed Forces do, so they are allowed to deploy on their own citizens. The cartels have capitalized on this to create a separate faction, instead of the Government being the 800lb gorilla, the cartels are the 500lb gorilla that's 10x as aggressive as the larger beast, and doesn't play by any of the same rules which makes him a order of magnitude more dangerous, which pacifies the population even more. It's a feedback loop, and even though more firepower in the hands of the populace could possibly break that loop, I'm willing to bet that the populace isn't willing to reach the levels of open violence and bloodshed to find that out. As for your last point, I wish I still had my Logic textbooks to point out all the fallacies in that paragraph, but I will just say this for the umpteenth and I hope this is clear enough; I do NOT advocate for the removal, forced or otherwise, of any and all gun or gun-like weapons you are currently possessing. I don't even advocate for removal, forced or otherwise, of any firearm you are currently possessing that would be covered under the scope of any AWB that would be passed, to do so would be a violation of Article 1, Section 9, line 3 of the Constitution. (Seriously, you should read it, especially the part about ex post facto laws) Since guns would still be available, you won't have to worry about someone making a zipgun out of PVC, or feeling anxious in a dark parking lot without your carry weapon.

Because they, as the government, have the authority to do plenty of bad things to you, from garnishing your wages to throwing you in a hole somewhere. In order to ensure those things don't happen to you, you have to at least respond to their claims. It could be in error, sure. If that's the case, then they can prove that upon challenge from you, but that still involves you answering the fucking letter. This isn't a case of "if you 'know' you didn't do it and ignore it, it'll go away". Default judgements are a motherfucker, and are impossible to remove once you have one, and by that point you have lost all semblance of control over the situation, whether they fucked up or not.

Joke's on you, bub: I own several. Been whittling the list down as of late, now it's just down to a 870 Police Mag 7+1 for home defense, and a Mosin 91/30 that's for just fuckin' around, and i enjoy owning a little piece of history. Want to buy a pistol at some point, but can't bring myself to pull the trigger as I have more pressing things to spend money on.

Nice to see you're doing original thinking on this.

I also hear this a lot, especially from self-professed "American Patriots". My answer is simple; you should ask the people of Egypt, Libya, and Tunisia how they executed a actual overthrow of their government, all under a much stringent measure of gun control than we have in the US (Egypt, for example: no long guns, compulsory registration, must re-register every 3 years). Even with all this, they still managed to peacefully (for the most part) gather, voice their grievances, "petition for redress" if you want to get all Constitutional about it, and get a complete revolution. Not the metaphorical "revolution" that I hear all the time from the aforementioned "Patriots". Again, you're building a strawman argument. At no point, EVER, did I say we should completely take all guns away from legal, responsible owners. Hell, I never even said we should take the possible banned weapons away from those that already bought them (Section 9, Article 1). So no, the "government and bad guys" wouldn't be the only ones with guns.

the TV stand's nice too

You'll have level 1 and like it. The passwords, however, may or may not be 7-hashed, so there's that if you're feeling hack-y

Sorry, it's not a bike, although I'm still on the hunt for a good scoot. I'm trying to sell my TV stand that I bought at Eurolife Furniture on Bethel about 5 years ago. I'm trying to reconfigure the living room, and this thing is really just in the way. Here's a pic, I want to point out that the wood is a dark walnut and NOT the light one that's pictured: Dimensions are 94.5"w x 23.5"d x 14"h. It's LONG, but it's absolutely solid, and HEAVY. There's another piece to this that hangs on the wall, and there were 2 guys that stood on top of this unit while they put that piece up. There are some surface scratches and a bit of wear, but nothing too crazy. Drawers work just fine. I paid $450 for it, it'd be nice to see $150 back but I'll hear offers.

As someone with a 18-year-old tank, what are those telltale signs that I should be watching out for?

Thanks y'all!

From everything I've gathered so far, this is a wet dream of a project, and the client is a large corp in Columbus. I'm trying to get myself positioned for this, but there are extra spots.

I got a job req that was handed down from my boss at ICC, a relatively large player in IT consulting in Columbus. For anyone that knows me, this sounds a lot like the project I was on in 2009/2010 that took me around the world, and would seriously bolster someone's resume. Here are the deets: Description: Karl is ramping up a team of 4 to carry out their Security Standardization project. They have 150 sites world wide that will need all local switches and routers upgraded. 2-4 weeks travel at each site. Global and domestic travel is required. They will be planning each site upgrade in columbus then sending the teams out to do the Cisco Switches, routers, vlans and end pts. CCNA and or CCNP preferred but not required. To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill and/or ability required. Education and/or Experience; - Technology related certifications (Cisco, F5, Security, etc.) - 5 years of Cisco WAN, LAN topology and support - 5 years experience with the install, configuration, and management of Cisco routers, switches, and wireless devices. - 5 years Client and site-to-site VPN administration - 5 years firewall and network security administration - 3 years of data center network infrastructure administration Bachelor’s degree is preferred If you're interested, hit me up on PM and I'll give you the name and number of the recruiter for this. I am more than likely not eligible for this since I'm already deployed at Nationwide, but this is too good of an opportunity to not share.

anyone know if tinted or "blackout" lens covers are legal?
Cheech replied to Gixxus Christ!'s topic in Daily Ride
It was the implied part where I said I wasn't a lawyer. If you wanted to look up a law, the ORC is freely available. If you wanted to make a legal argument for it, the curbside isn't the place for that. It's your ass either way, I honestly couldn't care less. -
Who would I be if I didn't answer all your points? I love it when people bring up Switzerland. You know why the Swiss don't have a lot of gun violence? 2 reasons: First, there is no "gun culture" in Switzerland, or in pretty much any part of Europe for that matter. Guns aren't a big deal, they aren't glorified, they aren't used as status symbols. Furthermore, military service in Switzerland is compulsory for 2 years, so EVERYONE knows or was at least taught basic firearm safety and how to handle themselves around a firearm. So the Swiss example is pretty much bullshit. Mexico? Also a bit of a bad example, although you're getting warmer. Just as they've been smuggling drugs over the border for decades, those smuggling routes work both ways to get legally bought US guns over the border. As much as we think that fed/state/local governments are corrupt, they don't hold a candle to Mexican cops and authority figures. There are places in Mexico where there is literally NO RULE OF LAW, just the rule of the cartels. Even if you did arm the populace, you're still dealing with a criminal element who's highly organized and has enough capital to level you and your entire village. I see where you're going with this, but it still misses the mark. Britain does have a violence problem, whether that's due to general unrest (see the London riots, due to police shooting a unarmed man) or if there's something else to it I really don't know.

That's the single most intelligent thing you've said so far. In gathering data for this, let's set up a system so that these people can get the help they need before they snap and become murderous dickbags. You know, universally. This way, normal folk keep their guns, crazy folk get help and treatment (and if they're found to be truly batshit, lose access to guns), and we save a few lives. Apparently you (speaking generally) don't like that idea either, so since you don't want to treat the surface symptom of gun control, which I'll freely admit short of stomping on major Constitutional provisions, will do very little to stem the tide of regulating what's already in private hands today, or treating the root cause, which is apparently going to self-destruct America in its socialist web or some shit, what else is left?

I answered your question. If you want validation on your decision to put one on there, you should have just come out and said it. -

Motorcycle internet forums aren't the best place to ask for legal advice. If you think a cop can fuck with you about something you put on your bike and you do it anyway, expect at some point now or in the future a cop to be bored and fuck with you, since they essentially can over anything, both real and imagined. Legal arguments aren't made on the curbside, they're made in court. -
I don't need, nor do I care to "goad" anyone into doing anything. I'm merely making an observation from what I've been seeing over the last year or so. Just because you haven't read it doesn't make it not so. For what it's worth, I'm conflicted on this issue, for reasons that you mentioned and some that you haven't. On the one hand, manufacturers have had 8 years since the AWB expired to churn out all kinds of stuff that was previously illegal, and stuff that was happily and legally snapped up by consumers all over the US. That genie is out of the bottle, and unless the government plans to white-out the Fourth Amendment AND Article 9, Section 1, clawing them back just isn't going to happen. On the other hand, there are certainly steps that can be taken that still allow gun ownership (and thusly uphold the Second) but are more responsible and prudent given the situation we face, such as banning drum mags or other hi-capacity magazines. But again, we run into the issue of 8 years of production, and although you can't undo all that, you can at least try to make things better going forward.

Yeah, um, we on the "left" don't need to do that. I've got an entire facebook feed of people alluding to armed conflict or insurrection if a AWB is passed. If you feel like you need to take up arms against the government, then you should do just that. If I may quote Carlin: "Come on, you moral crusaders, let's see a little smoke to match that fire in your belly." The NRA has openly said it wants to have a "conversation", but so far the only thing that's being conversed is the same tired slippery slope fallacies that we've seen again and again. This time there's the added nugget of mental health, which would be nice if the solution from the NRA wasn't "just tag them all and put them in a database, like sex offenders". I seem to recall some legislation passed recently that would have actually given these people some legitimate medical help and therapy, if it wasn't gutted... Also, Alex Jones has been posted on here fairly regularly, even more so when stuff like this comes up. Don't play the ignorant card now, disavowing knowledge of him one day and link to Infowars the next. I'm still a little annoyed with Piers in giving him the platform to spew his idiocy to a much broader audience, but perhaps that's the necessary medicine to shine a light on the true nature of this "conversation".
