  1. Let's say 83/93 at 9:45a
  2. Further research will be conducted this weekend
  3. So...the VFR is the heaviest motorcycle I have ridden with sporting intentions. It felt a little bit out of my comfort zone at first. Side to side transitions take a little more effort. Corner stability and grip have a lot better than I expected. I won't be trying to ride it at the same pace as the CBR, but I always want to know what I'm dealing with Lot's of good information.
  4. Good information. Question on this line specifically...Are you saying the size of the contact patch doesn't effect the amount of grip? Conventional wisdom says that dropping pressure a few PSI will increase the size of the contact patch and result in more grip.
  5. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Formula_One_car "The aerodynamic designer has two primary concerns: the creation of downforce, to help push the car's tyres onto the track and improve cornering forces; and minimising the drag that gets caused by turbulence and acts to slow the car down."
  6. I ride McConnelsville >377>550 Marietta quite a bit. I need to do a little more exploring in that area. Maybe I'll do that this Saturday.
  7. what's a good route that includes 329?
  8. This. I am asking specifically about grip. Not the effect on acceleration, braking, or even suspension performance.
  9. Here is why I am asking: More weight does give you more grip and traction when launching off the line (ask a drag racer). More down force gives more grip in corners (ask an Indy car driver why they have wings front and rear). I'm not sure if the same principles apply to 2 wheeled vehicle. CBR600RR 420ish lbs with Angel GTs VFR1200 590ish lbs with Angel GTs. On the CBR, I can get both tires to break loose and go into a small controlled slide. I haven't reached that point yet on the VFR. I get that 590 lbs is going to require more lateral grip, but the weight is also creating a larger contact patch and more downward friction due to gravity. There are a few factors at play. I know my limits pretty well on the CBR, and still trying to find them on the Viffer.
  10. Does a heavier motorcycle have any less/more grip than a lighter one...assuming same tires, similar suspension setup. etc?
  11. Funny, but I was too busy taking notes. As a man, I nominate this guy to be our leader.
  12. The 5 year warranty is a very good idea to help attract riders.
  13. Just when I start to think I know women, you go ahead and drop this
  14. I'm buying a center stand for the vfr. Makes tire changes simple.
  15. 100 hp crank (80ish rwhp), and a compression ratio of 9.5:1 is a pretty docile state of tune for an 1100cc liquid cooled V-Twin. I would expect it to get at least 45 mpg. That would make the range respectable. I'm going to guess that Indian will offer some go fast addons to boost the compression ratio and hp.
  16. Meet at 8:30. Meet spot can either be Bolivar or Millersburg. Pace will be brisk.
  17. I know of someone who is recently in need of a bike to ride...oh wait it was you Do you know what you are going to get?
  18. I tried to use exhuast tape once. I couldn't get it to look perfect, and I am just a bit too OCD to live with that. Took it off and trashed it. I doubt there is any actual measureable change in performance.
  19. It never made sense to me that many HD riders don't like the V Rod. HD should do more with the platform, like maybe V Rod bagger
  20. 150 rear is function over form. It should make for quick turn in (well for a cruiser anyway). OOC, what will a stock V Rod do in a 1/4 mile?
  21. When a HD big twin makes 65 rwhp, I am guessing yes. Considering the HP and weight it should cover a 1/4 mile in about 12 seconds. Not fast by sport bike standards but it's decent.
  22. It makes decent power, isn't insanely heavy, has actual ground clearance, and a real cast aluminum chassis. Could it be fun to ride? The last cruiser that I thought was fun was the 3rd gen V4 honda Magna.
