  1. For the fraction of a % of the time when I want to lift the rear without loading the rear shock I put the bike on the triple tree stand in the front & the spool stand in the rear. I then put some cheap automotive jack stands under the rear sets & remove the spool stand. Pit Bull also makes some nice motorcycle specific jack stands.
  2. This thread is < 100 IQ. You spend thousands on a new bike. Just get some proper motorcycle stands for a couple hundred more.
  3. Don't buy a new(er) bike just to do your 1st track day. Just bring what you've got with newer tires. (Is your suspension had regular maintenance? That is important) You could be king of novice on the bike you've got if you want. Too soon to make a decision on spending the big bucks on a new bike imho.
  4. Do they charge extra for crashin'?
  5. Thanks Brian. My bikes are stowed away but it's nice to see that someone is still enjoying 2015. See you in '16.
  6. Hey man. Glad to hear that you still ride.
  7. This is true. Plus, pegs dragging is only a warning that the exhaust is next, & that's not spring loaded.
  8. Thanks. The simplest solution is often the best. I'll let you know how it works out in the spring. Then again maybe I just need to hang off more, haha.
  9. Thanks. Mine is the sport touring Ninja. I probably wouldn't have these issues on a zx10r as I don't on my cbr.
  10. I considered that, but I think the 30mm or so I would gain might be a little excessive. Looks like I have a while to consider the options with winter coming on though.
  11. Everyone has heard of lowering links but has anyone here had any experience with raising the rear with links? I am considering this with my Ninja 1000. Peg scraping (& hard parts scraping which follows shortly after) is a bit of an issue. Since getting the bike I have started running a 55 series rear tire (vs the 50 series that the bike came with) & cranked up the rear preload to about 80% of max & the bike now has fairly neutral steering in that I can set it on a line & it will not require additional steering input throughout constant radius corners. I would like to resolve the cornering clearance issues though. Any suggestions?
  12. Excellent. Observe initial caution. Looking forward to the spring rides.
  13. GLWS. The STI sounds nice, my wife's got the standard WRX, but bikelessness would not be an option for me. Too many nice roads in Ohio (just not right around here) & passing in the twisties is problematic in any car.
  14. No problems with my 08 that I've had since new.
  15. Looks like a fine specimen. You never want a bike with a steering dampener though, especially at Mid Ohio which is rather slick when wet.
  16. I went to one of their so called "bikè nights" a few years ago. Good riddance to bad rubbish IMHO.
  17. 70 mpg, $5,100. Not likely. There are a lot of interesting bikes being introduced but this isn't.
  18. FYI there is a side by side comparison between the Multi & the S1000XR in the current issue of Sport Rider magazine. Don't read it if you are set on the Duc though.
  19. You're not slow Pauly. I know you could bump it up if you wanted. You just have better sense.
  20. Did you ever hear of the charitable gaming industry? That's my livelihood. Thousands employed here in Ohio. The company I work for has been in business since 1967. The upstart Internet cafes that you speak of were really cutting in on our business in Ohio so I was personally glad to see them go. It wasn't just the casinos.
  21. Some of the Harley riders are much better than most others. What I was trying to say is that when pushed to it's limit that a V-rod, due to lean angle limitations, will only allow about 75 to 80% of the corner speed of a proper bike (even if the rider is hanging off like a madman). I think the majority of all riders start to leave their comfort zone around 75 to 80%, thus the faster Harley riders, in comparison with the usual Harley riders, seem really fast.
  22. Maximim lean angle on 02 to 06 Vrods is 32 degrees. You'd have to be exempt from the laws of physics to run a brisk street pace on one.
