  1. Exactly. That's where lane sharing comes in. If you are accustomed to filtering it is not really out of the ordinary to slip out of a situation like this. Most motorcycles are only occupy about 2 feet of the width of the lane. An average minivan is 6 1/2 feet wide. Standard lane width is 12 feet. I motorcycle commute 160 miles a week, rush hour, freeway, Cleveland so I've got a little 1st hand experience with this type of situation. No swatting at cars necessary.
  2. Sorry. I forgot to include a lol with that for ya. I just find it amusing that the op had enough time to honk his horn, refocus his vision on the encroaching vehicle & swat said vehicle's mirror. Evasive action beats a "stand your ground" panic reaction like the op's any day of the week.
  3. What's the big deal? Lane sharing works both ways.
  4. Can you get your hands on an owners manual? Proper chain tension depends on the suspension geometry of your particular machine. The idea is that the chain should not become the limiting factor in the travel of the suspension. Too loose is way better than too tight.
  5. Gotta work assuming you mean 9/10 not 8/10. Hope the weather is nice & you have a good ride.
  6. DIY. All you need is some supports for both ends of the axle. Remove the seals to minimize friction. Spin the wheel about 10 times & mark where it stops (the light side, on top) each time with a bit of painters tape. Then tape a 1/4 oz weight on the light side & repeat until the wheel stops in completely random positions all 10 spins. Permanently attach the weights & you're done. EZPZ.
  7. Down that way last Sat. Rode 550,26,260,556,537,800. 260 had a bit of gravel & 537 had too many cruisers. Otherwise nice.
  8. Welcome to this crazy forum. Just one big happy disfunctional family. It's my biased oppinion that you chose the right bike to start off with. I bought one last year for commuting & have put about 8,000 miles on it. Have you considered taking the MSF course? It will make you a better/ safer rider & you will get your endorsement at the end of the class. Happy riding.
  9. I wanna see the video.

When I saw you guys on 800 I thought I'd seen you somewhere before. It was perfect weather for a ride & I didn't see one cop all day. Hope you had a good ride.

Great ride today Dave. 572 miles total for me. I ended up doubling back to Woodsfield then 78w to 83n.
  12. Specifically what is the problem? I have a set of IRC Road Winners that came on my 250. 8,000 miles of dry & wet commuting bliss to date & it looks like they will go 3 or 4 thousand more.

I'll see you in the morning Dave. Another time central riders. Have a great ride everybody.

You gotta be tough son. An early start should put the 500 or so miles behind us in time for me to get home for the early-bird special.

I see a Millersburg early in your prior post. Would you want to meet up there? What time?

No route. I suggest 83s,78e,260s,26e +++???. I'm in, whatever the route. 8:30 @ Millersburg Speedway then Coshocton sounds good to me. Looking forward to this.

    Ok. Where & when?
  19. Amazing. The most accidents occur where the population density is highest. It has been my experience that non-fatal accidents in rural areas are under-reported & that most squids & 2 wheel bar hoppers don't venture far from home. With this in mind, I don't think that avoiding the marked areas on the maps would significantly increase my safety.
  20. I've seen LEOs that looked like they might want to write me a ticket for filtering before. They really just didn't know how to go about it with all the traffic.
  21. Sure beats sitting still in a traffic jam. I don't think I'd do it if I had to ride a wing though.
  22. Although I have a great disdain for distracted driving I am in no way affiliated with this kz900 bloke.
