  1. Yes I meant well with my post. I was just referring to the fact that there are still many people that hate biker just because they ride bikes! Maybe it's just jealousy over the amount of skill that it takes to ride a bike, that some people lack (even some that get onto bikes lack in the skill dept.!)

  2. When I read that the guy in the pickup was there, I thought mayb ehe was ready to give someone a beatdown for being a crazy kid riding too fast! Good to hear that wasn't the case, and that it all worked out in the end!

I wish that small town attitude was still what you see everywhere...

  3. Really it was a good ride. Thanks to everybody.

    Moose/ReconRat, Always a pleasure Gentlemen. ( respecting my elders :D. )

Porter. Thanks for keeping me cool with the 2fiddy fan.

SwingR. You are one crop dustin' sombeach. Wipe twice tonight. :D

Tarr/Roaddog. Can't wait to roll with you two again.

The food was great. I didn't know they were feeding us too. Woot!

6 of the 7 attending OR folks were on imports.

I would say overall it was about 10% import 90% HOG.

0% drama. Whick as we say is priceless. We need more sport at next years.

Next time, I'll have to ride the Hon-duh. At least my 2-fiddy was begging to corner faster than those boring cruisers were going.. (No offense to Moose.) At least I got to hear what my bike would sound like if I ever find the pther 3/4 of a liter!

  4. I'm hesitant to throw them (Hinds) under the bus right off, because I haven't actually dealt with them, but the few times I have been in there I felt less than welcome. One time I was in there with a friend to order and pay for a part, and they weren't any better when he was giving them money.

On another note, I do understand that things don't go perfect all the time. I turn wrenches for a living, and I am not perfect. I do my best to get things back together the way they were from the factory, unless there's something wrong with the way they were (it happens) and try to get it right the first time. This IS coming on the heels of a bad week where I had to completely redo a transmission overhaul due to a simple mistake, but I don't think that will ever happen again, as I will remember this situation for a really long time (forever?) and always double check which way each thrust bearing goes!

  5. I've never had a good experience at bike shops. You can usually find the service manuals to download for your bike online. Maybe it will take you a minute to figure out what you're doing but at least if it's f'ed up you can only be mad at yourself.

Do yourself a favor and make sure you get a FACTORY service manual! I have a Clymer's manual for my Interceptor (came with the bike) and it's worth barely more than TP. There is a good deal of mis-information, and even more that is just not clear.

  6. I'm game to meet up before hand! I would actually rather do it that way! If you're still around Moose, let me know what you're planning, if no meetup, I'll just make my own donut stop on the way, unless someone wants to meetup at Jolly Pirate or something? I was thinking about the JP on Main St in Reynoldsburg. Hell, is it even there still? Maybe a Tim Horton's somewhere? Moose got me thinking about donuts!!!!

  7. and i thought my gf was bad at tellin me about needed maintnence

Oh no, they all insist that they're not high maintenance! :rulez::lol:

They usually have the radio up too loud to hear the brakes grinding...

  8. Ok, scratch that! I got it all figured out, once I got the carbs close by bench syncing them, it was easy as can be! I still need to adjust the valves, and get the pilot valves (screws) adjusted, I think I might have some plugged passages there, otherwise it is running much better! I'll be checking the sync again after adjusting the valves, now that I found how easy it is when they're relatively close!

I'll be doing the Ninja soon, and probably assisting chevysoldier with his Yammahamma as soon as the 6mm adapters come in.

If anybody needs to sync their carbs, feel free to let me know, and you can use my stuff. I'm not going to offer to do it for anyone, but the $100 sync tool, and the screw adjuster tool (actually a pilot screw adjuster tool) are here, for those that know how, just don't want to spring for the tools!

  9. Edit: One other thing to add. IMO gloves are as important as a helmet in most situations (especially if you're a reasonable street rider that isn't going Mach 2). If you have any time to react, even a tenth of a second, you will throw your hands out before you hit the ground. It's just reflexes.

Good point, and I didn't think of it like that.

  10. I bought a pair of Fieldsheer "sonic air" at Iron Pony, on closeout for $20. Not a whole lot of protection, but enough for how I ride at this time. They're comfy, some decent knuckle padding, on top of leather in the knucles. The rest is mesh.

I also Have a pair of First cold weather gloves that I really like, in the cold (duh!) I don't rememebr any detials, and that's not what you're looking at right now anyway.

If I start riding any more aggressive, I'll get me some better gloves, but right now I don't go much over speed limit most of the time.

  11. Thats why I like my brake modulator. It flashes like 3 times, then steady for a couple seconds then repeats until I release the brake.I don't like the ones that flash then stay constant. I figure if it keeps flashing, they have a better chance of seeing me.

The other type, all you have to do is let off and re-apply to start a flash sequence again. The one I was looking at wouldn't start the entire sequence, but give a few few flashes, unless a certain time had passed.
