Refute what?
-
I love a story with a happy ending.

Tried to. Iran said they'd already been sent to Ohio in exchange for "driving skills".

Air rifles can be classified as guns under UK law and require a gun permit. Depends on the muzzle velocity. >6ftlb for pistols and >12ftlbs (I think) for rifles = it's a gun and you need the same gun license that deer hunters have.

What the heck is an assault vest? And would Obama ban if it had bayonet lugs? Does everything with the word Assault in front of it suddenly become scary and unnecessary for civilians to own? BRB, going to get get into my Assault Subaru and drive to get an Assault Coffee. Then I will use my Assault Computer to earn some Assault Money. I heard someone say that 100 round mags should be illegal because they hold more ammo than a civilian needs. So, if 100 rounds is more than a civilian needs, would the anti-gunners agree that a 30 round mag is OK?

I've seen a video like that. TV special on swimming pool safety. Some guy dove from a diving board in a swimming pool that turned out to be too shallow - left him with no control over his legs and little control over his arms. He sued the body that sets minimum swimming pool depths, saying that their published minimum depth for diving was too shallow. Thing is, the pool he was using didn't even comply with those standards, but he still won. So if I say you can wear a 3/4 helmet, and you ignore me and wear a 1/2 helmet, you can sue me because it turns out you actually needed a full helmet.

I posted that in another thread. When i get to my desktop i'll post a link. Cliffs: The higher US gun homicide rate is balanced out but the higher UK non-gun homicide rate. Sent from my DROIDX using Tapatalk 2

It is a complete non-issue in England. Guns are illegal therefore there are no guns in England. And there are no gays in Iran. And the Easter Beagle comes once a year and... Sent from my DROIDX using Tapatalk 2

It was only a handful of people - it just happened to be the core team, right to the top. It's not over. Criminal charges are pending for the other administrators who protected Sandusky.

Looks like he found one. Shame he found the angry end.

My cousin has Spina Bifida and got around on crutches for 30 years. His arms are STRONG like BULL. I challenged him to an arm wrestle once. Imagine arm wrestling someone, but they were allowed to use their leg... That's the strength disparity. He could have ripped my arm off like pulling the flappers off a Kroger cooked chicken... But he was nice and stopped at non-injurious humiliation.

Never eff with a crime scene. It's the first thing they will notice, and you innocent will forever be in doubt.

The guy is paraplegic. He'd have to throw elbows - not like he's gonna throw any knees, is it? In all seriousness - we've always heard that guns are the great equalizer. You could be 90yo and still defend yourself. We'll here's all the proof you need of that - paraplegic, in bed, wakes up to a shotgun barrel in his face (Whcih must have looked like the New York end of the Lincoln Tunnel). Not only does he escape the situation with his brains INSIDE his skull, but he turns the tables on the bad guy and prevails in a confrontation he never asked for. Heck, if you said to me, here's a new video game, the first level is you can't use your legs and you wake up with a shotgun tapping you in the face... I'd tell you the game is unwinnable.

While I would never presume to detract from the real victims here, the children who were brutalized by Sandusky, it is also worth mentioning the collateral damage to other innocents. The plays on the team, the new recruits, the local businesses that get business from the program/games/fans (from the broadcast equipment support/operations staff and uniform suppliers to the parking lots and hot dog sellers). This was a nuclear bomb dropped right on the stadium and nobody is safe from the blast. Again, the secondary casualties are just that, secondary. The true victims will suffer for more than 10 years - don't think they will ever stop suffering. But the secondary casualties are still casualties. Jobs, careers and livelihoods of innocents are right in the blast radius. And the fallout will continue to affect every program in the country. Think this bucket of wasted ectoplasm is the only guy who's ever harmed a kid? Such a huge penqalty could actually have the reverse effect on the honesty of other programs. If there are programs out there that know they've also been covering up for a kiddie fiddler then do you think they will step forward now and risk being Enola Gay's next target? No, they're gonna lock it down tighter. I only hope that NCAA does a good job of making the programs understand the punishment is not for Sandusky's crimes, but for their cover-up.

Are you saying their lives were not already endangered? Even with little hope of killing him (body armor etc) some return fire could have distracted him long enough to allow more to escape. I dunno if I would have started shooting - would depend on his the situation unfolded. Am I close enough to get a hit? Is he standing still? Is he aiming somewhere else right now, meaning I have time to aim a shot? Can I flank him? Can I get to an open area where there are no people and shoot from there, tactically forcing him to shoot me an allowing others to escape? Maybe returning fire would be a bad choice... But that's a choice I would rather have - rather than be disarmed and helpless.

That is the scariest thing I have read on this site for a long time. Today I carried my .380 Auto and Taser C2 on my person all day. I also have a taclight, CS and other non-lethal weapons where I access and use them. When I left the house for Bob Evans this morning I mentally prepared myself to eat pancakes.

Dems are scared of gun control. The '94 AWB showed them that new sweeping gun control laws get them voted out of power (Clinton>Bush)
-
No - the title indicated that the thread would contain Obama's views on new gun legislation arising from the Colorado shooting. He said he doesn't plan any new laws.
-
We need UK style gun laws, so shootings like this could NEVER happen. Well, except for this one: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cumbria_shootings

Anyone who wants to convince us the gun laws will stop these tragedies needs to look to Norway. They have extremely strict gun control yet we're only a year after a similar tragedy there. Their laws didn't help... http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gun_politics_in_Norway To get a gun license you must show a reason for having a gun, then pass a training course, test, and then show 6 months of regular (15 times at least) attendance at a gun range using rented guns before you can get a license to store a weapon at home etc. Self Defense is not a recognized reason for gun ownership.

You waive your appearance, but the ticket is still processed by the court.
-
The best bit is that Hollywood actors, who make a living glorifying gun violence, are the first to demand that guns are banned.
-
Last time I got a ticket Clinton was in power.

While you are at it, ask the department for his bank account number then you can withdraw all his money and he won't be able to afford gas to get to the hearing.
