I was bored one day, and rode to Cleveland and did a route with a buddy who was hauling vegetables up there in an 18 wheeler. I was astounded at how retarded most motorists are around 18 wheelers, and further amazed by the limited visibility from the cab of those trucks. it would be quite easy to run over a small car or bike and never even have seen it prior to the crash. Needless to say, I am much more respectful around big vehicles than I used to be now.

Mine is an annual membership but is auto-renewing with a credit card. It includes roadside assistance, which I used once when I took out the radiator in my car by hitting a dog.

Re: stripped compressor, get a larger size carabiner, then you can hang the running compressor off it from a footpeg, brake rotor, or similar. It vibrates around a good bit and the exposed piston on the little electric motor will ingest dirt if you lay it on the ground while it runs. I's also suggest a good multitool that you keep on you, or in the tank bag. A lot of little fixes can be made with it, saving the time and hassle of removing the seat.

The 41s are HUGE, they will stick out very far and most likely look gangly as hell. Owned a set, hated them, ditched them. (Strom) The 36 are also quite big and they look like a typewriter case, not the most aesthetically pleasing on the sides of a Hayabusa. Owned a set, they were okay, but I eventually got rid of them. (FZ1) I concur that of the listed bags, the newer V35 are about the best looking and most streamlined. The Beetle Bags suggestion is a good one, those are cool bags (albeit small).

Take the Blue Ridge Parkway, it will spit you out in Cherokee, just around the mountains from 129. Cut over Foothills Parkway and you are there. The 5 or 7 times we've taken that route we ride US33 in Ohio through WV and into VA (very nice once the 4 lane ends in Ohio), 33 takes you right to the north end of the BRP, and then ride it on down for 400+ miles of twisting two lane with no stop sign or red light to be seen. You can easily ride this route in 2 days.

Most people seem to be looking to open a conversation with you, so as to tell you about the Harley they want to buy, or the 1974 RD400 in their grage that is currently missing an engine. I usually say "thanks" but unless the person is obviously an enthusiast and not just a gas station tire kicker, I don't engage in conversation with them. I also go into uber awareness mode when some stranger seeks me out and begins playing twenty questions about the bike. I remain polite but already have a plan in place for killing them, if / when necessary.

Drunk drivers deserve to die. I have no sympathy for them. I absolutely detest drunks. I'd wager the pickup truck driver was a DUI, given that he ran into the rear of a moving motorcycle.

I've also had that happen, and with Chase. I appreciate they are capable enough to catch the anomalies and shut down the account, but it pisses me off that they don't bother to notify you of what is going on. I use my credit / debit card for everything; I never carry cash. The day my account got frozen I was 300 miles from home and was at a gas station with an empty tank and no way to pay for it. That was aggravating.

I'm in NEO... and actually my opinion of the LE here is that it is about 15 years behind the times. "The times" being central Ohio. I've worked in both areas and this is by far a more rough and tumble way of policing, but it's what the citizens expect and even demand. There are always going to be regional differences in LE, what works for Beverly Hills ain't gonna work in Baltimore. Speedytriple: I have yet to meet a "dirty cop", in fact, I'm not really sure what the definition of that is. What do East Cleveland cops do that makes them such cocksuckers and / or dirty, exactly? Links are appreciated, ideally ones describing the actions of the entire department or at least the majority of the department, to corroborate your statement. That's fucking epic. Fepic, if you will. No one has ever made a donut reference to a cop before. I think you have ushered in a whole new era of comedy. This past week I: Wrote 0 people for speed, stop sign, etc... Wrote 11 people for driving under license suspension... Responded to a reported robbery in progress and had to go in with just one other guy and a 14" shotgun... Charged 4 people with disorderly conduct for engaging in fights in the street... Investigated a child porn case and secured a search warrant, looking at charging under state code for numerous pandering related felonies... Responded to a burglary in progress (while off duty, getting the above search warrant signed)... Responded to 2 or 3 domestic violence calls... arrested one... Arrested 5 people on warrants... Unlocked 7 or 8 people's cars for them... Gave directions to countless people... Performed over 4 hours of foot patrol... Handled 2 unruly juvenile calls and played social worker and daddy... Offered advice to numerous people who came in to the office with general non criminal questions... Handled 4 child custody disputes... Sat stationary at numerous locations in response to citizen's complaints about speeders and reckless drivers... Assisted another local agency with checking numerous areas for a kidnapping suspect from another state who had 2 kids he had abducted... Recovered a stolen car and arrested the person in possession of it... And attended the city council meeting where they cheerfully discussed laying me off since the city is broke.... So, yeah, fuck you. Cops do nothing but write bullshit tickets.

That's not a news article so much as it is an editorial, and nowhere does it actually say that Zimmerman has filed suit. It describes the tort offenses that Zimmerman might base a lawsuit on.

I see no problem with the officer removing your gun while you are stopped. I personally would not do it, but I can understand the idea behind doing it. You got it back within minutes, so no big deal. 4th amendment issues don't apply since this isn't a seizure under the law, it's a temporary relocation of the item for the safety of the officer. Park rangers, even unarmed rangers like those working for Columbus Metroparks, are all trained to the same OPOTA standards as any other Ohio police officer. All have power of arrest.

RIP threads are devoid of any value whatsoever. Most of us don't know the rider involved, so we have no personal connection with them. Posting "RIP" or some little emoticon of a kneeling rider doesn't do shit for the family, friends, or anyone else attached to the situation. It's the internet version of those stupid stickers people put on cars: "RIP Joe Blow 1995-2010". I care about Joe Blow's demise almost as much as I care about your kid being an honor student. I do read the threads every so often just to get the details and locations of the crash, more for morbid curiosity than anything else.

I'd shit a brick if you could land a full time cop job at 18, but if you are OPOTA certified and have a solid background and impress the right people, you absolutely can get a part time or auxiliary commission, which is a bona fide LE position, just minus the pay. Off the top of my head, I know that the following Ohio agencies have put on guys between 18-20: Edison PD Crestline PD Morrow Co SO Crawford Co SO Dennison PD You would have to call or email, my suggestion would be to pull a list from USACops, OhioPD, or a similar website of every Ohio agency, get the email address, and drop them a semi-form email inquiring about age and training requirements. You send out 50, you'll get 5 responses.

Well, I really wanted to move it. I posted it in multiple forums and on CL, and accepted a low offer to push it out the door. I was more interested in recouping a small amount of my investment in my new bike, and seeing it go to a good home and not lining the dealer's pocket, than I was in making any money.
