Which is exactly why I love him for a candidate. It's refreshing to see someone so not full of it for a change.

We started out at 43/22, and rode 646 to Scio, 151/212 to 164, 164 up to Lisbon, ate lunch at the Steel Trolley, 164 to 518 to 644 into Salineville, back on 164 to Amsterdam, 43 up to 9, 9 down to Cadiz, where it broke up. Most of the guys were from Pittsburgh, one from Toledo.. all of us old farts, for the most part- 35-50, lol. I ride with them because I am the fastest, and it strokes my ego (lol... just kidding, kinda). Really, they are all cool, there's none of the racerboy mentality, and we all take our own pace for a while and then wait up for each other. Good bunch of guys.

jean shorts? really? lol. You are trolling, right?

I would never hunt for fun, but if it comes down to it, I'd like to know how as well. I wouldn't waste my time on the squirrels though. I'd go for the groundhogs and rabbits. I hear that groundhogs have a good dark meat that makes a good roast, but you have to avoid the scent glands when cutting them. Hate to tell you, but after you've gotten a few squirrels and you're still hungry, that dog of yours isn't going to be treeing anything any more. That is, if the neighbors don't get him first.

Man, that is geeking out to a whole new level.

Yeah, but there was no ACME rocket. -2 points.

Nice video! Looks like some good riding.

Constitutional amendment requiring a balanced budget?
SpeedTriple44444 replied to Casper's topic in Dumpster
I think he was pointing out that the differences are so extreme that they cut to the core of the issue. One party is about social justice and big government as the equalizer. The other is about personal responsibility and smaller government as a means of stimulating economic growth and general prosperity. Is there a middle ground, or are these things so opposite as to mean a compromise is diluting either path so much as to render it ineffective? The whole "working together for the good of everybody" is a loser mentality that just doesn't work in the real world. It's like the "everybody wins" mentality they try to encourage in school these days. Sorry, but it's just not the case. Some ways and some people are better than others. Some ideas are better. It's like when you get a group of people together to design something. There will be 10 different ideas generated by 10 different people. If you allow equal input to the end result, you end up with a clusterf**k (for lack of a better word) that is a compromised version of all the ideas you received. If you take 1 open-minded person, let them consider the options available, and let them make an educated decision and run with it, they can follow through with their vision of the idea and bring it to an efficient implementation. At that point, the weak areas are obvious to everybody, and maybe the next guy decides to refine or rebuild what has been implemented... but at least there is a clear idea of what was wrong! Our government is all about action without a clear direction these days. I know people like that; they think that motion for motion's sake is going to produce meaningful results. As a consequence, they're tossed around by every idea presented to them and never do ANYTHING with meaningful results. But, they sure know how to look busy! It's like a Harley... more efficient at producing sound without the undesireable consequence of horsepower than any other bike out there. -
^this. I wonder if the guy in the video was always that slow, or if the crash had some other effects on him.

Looks like it could work to me. I guess you don't know until you try.

I think it can be done, but you had better have some frame underneath. I get your point about the tow vehicle shielding it, but as I'm sure you know from riding behind a truck on the highway, there are pressure waves coming off the tow vehicle that produce a push and pull type of oscillation that could be worse than a steady wind. I say go for it... I think it can be done. Personally, I would make it so the side panels bolt into the trailer, and then bolt together, probably with aluminum angle. Some triangulation on the bracing should help keep it from folding into a parallelogram. If you don't brace the larger panels, they are going to vibrate and loosen things. It's not just the wind force, it's the oscillation. For example: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=j-zczJXSxnw

You have to have a special jig and measuring equipment to tell if it's still square. Some shops have them, as well as a way to correct the frame if it's bent. My theory on that is that it will never be the same. You tell me what happens when you bend a piece of metal, and then bend it back!

Jackson Strong lands first front flip in competition!

Yeah, how do you practice something like that? -

I couldn't agree more. -
The only problem I have with a salvage bike is that you don't always know if the frame is straight. Engine, wiring, ecu, can all be fixed. A bent frame is another story.
-
I think you might need more of a frame than you're anticipating. It will be like a house in 80mph winds... you don't want the thing coming apart on you while you're towing. I would go with the aluminum frame and thin sheeting idea. Just an opinion, take it or leave it.

I rode the Triple yesterday in shorts, flip flops, no helmet, no glasses. I had just washed it and took it for the 1 mile down my back country road and back to blow some water off of it. Maybe not the smartest thing to do, but I knew the risks and took it easy. The problem I have with your story is that he was also putting someone else at risk. Let the dumb ones get taken out of the food chain. It leaves the road open for the rest of us. Just hope they don't take somebody with them. When I went out later yesterday and did a couple hundred miles, it was boots, jeans, jacket with armor, full face Shoei.

I've been using Continental tires on my Strom the last few changes, and I've been very impressed with the grip and wear. I used TrailAttacks first, switching to RoadAttacks. Very good tires, in my opinion. I've never tried the motions, but might put a set on my Speed Triple in the future. The Metzler I had on the rear wore out in about 3000 miles to the cords, which surprised me a little. I've got a Pirelli Diablo Rosso Corsa on there now, which seems to stick very well, but the feeback is not so great.

lol... I'll have to remember that.

I've had more bikes come at me in my lane than cars, to be honest. And most of them were Harleys. For some reason they seem to think that it's ok to ride ON the center line. And then, when they blow the turn because they are riding beyond the lean angle of their bike, they end up coming at you in your lane head-on. Fun times when you've just gotten the perfect lean on a nice turn- to stand it up, dodge the moron, and then get it back together before you end up like the guy in the video.

So you think Ford stands for Found on Road Dead
SpeedTriple44444 replied to DTM Brian's topic in Pics and Vids
I can't say anything about Ford. I drive a GM. Garbage Motors. I owned a '99 GrandAm, and it was the biggest POS I've ever had. The list of repairs I did is too long to bother with on here. When the steering rack started to go, I ditched it. It had well under 100K miles. I'll keep my old grandpa car (Buick) with the 3800. It is one of the few things GM ever did right. My wife is now driving an FJ cruiser as of the 4th weekend. I wouldn't be objected to buying a Ford.. actually might be what replaces my Buhog. My grandpa worked there for 40 years or so. -
You would have to be a good hunter. That part of the county has dualing banjos for background music. Those good ole' boys would have you strung up before you could squeal like a pig. (note: I'm a transplant from Stow, so I can talk about them like that).
