  1. The waving is annoying. Anybody else sick of being expected to wave all the time? I don't wave at people in Buicks when I'm driving my LeSabre.
  2. What I did... it's something I've seen people talk about a lot, and it really helped me to make the transition from cruiser /standard type riding to sport riding... find a curvy road, and ride it at a relaxed pace, but concentrate on initiating every turn with your upper body, more so than steering input. Keep upping your speed as you feel comfortable with it. Once you get fast enough, the natural progression will be to lean way off the bike while pushing it upright.
  3. Well, I thought we were making sweeping generalities all in the name of "the brotherhood". My brotherhood is metric riders of all kinds. Oh, wait... I ride with some Harley guys too, and they're not retarded. Gee, maybe it would be a good idea not to judge the whole by one or two?
  4. This thread is proof that you really do have to be retarded to ride a Harley.
  5. If anyone wants to come, I'm riding Sunday. Meeting up with friends and having lunch at STD (Steel Trolley Diner) in Lisbon 12 noon. Heading over and down 9, going to pick up 646 and ride across to 43. From there on out, don't know. One thing... my buddy isn't a real fast rider and might be on his cruiser. I know that is not what some of you want to do. Typically, I ride ahead and then wait up for a while.
  6. Wow... 11 whole posts and you decide to give us these words of wisdom. Thanks. I can't believe how awesome you are.
  7. Selling this for a friend. It looks like new. Made by Joe Rocket, black, has hard armor, says "Kawasaki" and "Dunlop" on it. Has a removeable liner. I think he used it 1, maybe 2 seasons at most, without the liner. It looks perfect to me. He's asking $150 obo. I will take pics and email if you're interested. Send a PM.
  8. Nice car. Ford is really doing well these days. Their new stuff is a little too pricey, but it's nice. <Threadjack>- if anyone has a need for some Michelin ice snow tires, I have a set of 4 off my wife's Corolla that we traded in... nearly brand new (1 winter). 15's. Sorry the snow talk just reminded me of that </Threadjack>
  9. Since Obama was in office when they found it, they decided to let him name it. Did you hear what name he picked? Bush's fault.
  10. Those crazy Afghans... they're always looking for ways to blow themselves up.
  11. I agree. The challenge is the fun. You can't find a rhythm to that road! Add in gravel, blind rises with unpredictable turns, and goats (yes, I almost hit a goat on 555), and it's a heck of a challenge to ride smoothly.
  12. I hate that too. I see A LOT of Pennsylvania people doing that, and I have to scratch my head because they give out tickets for that over there (left lane and not passing). I guess the law is there because these inbred morons have a problem understanding what a passing lane is for. I just wish they would implement the same law on the Ohio turnpike. I'll be trucking along at 85mph, and come up on a jam-up of cars, and inevitably there will be a couple people doing their thing in the right and center lanes, and 3 people bumper to bumper in the left lane, the one in front having a PA plate. Totally clueless.
  13. Body position is everything, even on the street. I tell people that all the time and get responses about how it's not the track, etc. All I know is that, when in the right position and a turn decreases radius, or there is gravel or something else slippery, I seem to have extra room to play with, and the bike doesn't get out of sorts when sliding sideways. It's much more comfortable and controlled. Half the people you see on the youtube crash videos are pushing the bike sideways underneath them and increasing lean angle, getting the pegs down until something slides or grabs and they go down. Touching pegs, as said before, is the last indicator that you're running out of room... not something you should be trying to do. If it happens on a Daytona, you need to ask yourself what you were doing wrong to have the bike that far over on the Street.
  14. I had mine swiped and ended up receiving Acai berry supplements in the mail that I, of course, didn't order. So, we had the charges reversed, and the bank tells us it happens all time, in fact they were surprised it wasn't automatically denied because the company was so notorious. They kept sending the supplements and claimed we owed them something like $100 a month for them. We got new cards. Finally, they stopped coming, but we had somebody calling all the time and leaving messages in Chinese (or something similar) for like a year. They finally gave up.
  15. Well, at least he's selling it before he got the interior completely screwed up and painted a strange color and 20's on it, riding as tall as my FJ Cruiser. Who thinks that's cool? I just don't get it.
  16. This line of thinking will get you killed in city traffic. Be the aggressor, and you won't have nearly as much trouble. A ticket is better than a cast or casket.
  17. 1970 Skylark with "Lambo doors". I'm not kidding. http://cleveland.craigslist.org/cto/2531927091.html
  18. Another reason to have a fast bike. It's much easier to get away from these types.
  19. I can't win on them. My wife buys them now and then (not in quantity) and I'll bet she has at least broken even on them.
  20. Are you sure that the charging system is up to running a fuel pump? Some of those old Honda barely had enough to run the headlight. I've looked into it on my CB350 twin.
  21. True... Better Off (with) Something Else If you don't have to have surround sound, there are other ways to go on this. I would rather have a decent 2-channel setup on a budget than a cheapie home theater in a box.
