  1. I had an early 700 Sabre, it was nice but the cams did eat themselves along with a cam chain. That bike seem to always need something done to it. I sold it and swore off any of the 1st gen Honda v4, along with any Honda with a cam chain - and I am a VCR geek.
  2. Good luck on your project.. you have more patience than I do. V4s rock!
  3. Hi - got a target date? ---- duh... I suppose if I just checked the link I would find out. ?
  4. Lol... I suppose one big nut could be more fun than 4 little nuts....
  5. Dunno if you use speedbleeders but it makes the work waaaay easier.
  6. Yeah, I think your are right on the change everthing, the bikes been apart a good 4 or 5 times. I gotta quit screwing with it and get to - just ride it! The wheel with the lug nuts are one of the best features for the VFR.. I can pop the wheel off in 5 minutes tops, and if a beer was on the line, prolly get it back on in 4 minutes.. (Bosch impact driver assisted) HIt it with the torque wrench as the last step.. -- EZ peazy... Beat's pulling an axle and screwing with the chain... Dunno how the Triumph's would be....
  7. Yeah - eliminated long ago, I'm running Super Hawk lowers, so the RC51 calipers are a direct bolt on. Brakes are normal now....
  8. VFR work today by OCD on Demand Strip the body.. Remove steering stem bearings, replace with All Balls. (BTW, Park Tools are awesome) Rebuild front calipers. Disassemble, clean, clean, new seals, reassemble….. Disassemble and replace fork springs, replace seals, reassemble Rip out pair valves pump & system, install custom plates, my design. Clean, reoil BMC air filter and re install. Drain and Replace coolant The bike cooks my ass, so I cut out custom shape heat shields, one in front of the rear header (cut, fit, cut, fit, cover with Heatshield Products stick on fibre glass tranny material, one in midframe using Design Engineering material and then the same with cover the underside of the seat. (No more hamburger, I hope.) Also build heat shield enclosure for the starter solenoid and fuse box area. (It gets cooked by the rear headers, ---Stupid location Honda!) Re route stator and R/R wiring, with a new R/R install.. Snip, crimp, heat shrink, Snip, crimp, heat shrink, Snip, crimp, heat shrink, more heat shrink, and more heat shrink, tape it, zip tie it, burn it, kill it, beat it to death…. Damn, still not satisfied… next winter. Drain and clean clutch master cyclinder, add speed bleeder to clutch and bleed baby, bleed. Installed forks and set to correct height. Installed front wheel and set torques to factory. Reinstalled the RC51 calipers that I just rebuilt. New speed bleeders installed, hook up steel lines, -- and bleeeeed, c’mon, bleeeed, bleeeed, baby bleeed. Lock the lever overnite with zip tie….. Reassemble front end body, and install new zero gravity windshield…. With the top cowl…. Install side instrument panel covers….. damn this 5mm screw, stupid, stupid, why is it fighting installation? Spent a fucking hour on one 5mm x 6mm long fucking screw! Jeez! MF! (got it finally) Mirrors on… Fire it up!! Yeeeesssss! Then went to breakfast…
  9. I am on 7 or 8 MC forums for a around 7 years or so, and I have been photo posting with Photobucket. My habit has been to download the photo from my camera or phone onto my tower, do an edit and then upload into photobucket. Well, PB just fucked everyone who did any 3rd party hosting, Jeez, I have 500ish photos on forums that are now squashed. PB wants $400 now for 3rd party work. Um, can you say ransom? (pissed!) Well, next step.. What are you guys doing and who can do the hosting now and not get hosed later? Beers to all..
  10. If I get my VFR maitenance finished, I'm hoping a 3-4 day WV or mbe Virginia loop after the 4th.... any recommendations on places to stay for overnite after a days twisty feast?
  11. 16????? Holy xxxx.......How tall are you?
  12. It would be better to get a newer bike vs an older 80s VF Honda... Both of those Suzuki's would be fine..... So a question.... What do you want?????

What kind of machine do you use?
  14. A Suzuki GS500 is still a good starter bike. Put that on your search list too. C'mon dude, surprise us, buy a bike......

    Great thread on detail stuff......
  16. For you and me, yah, that's messed up.. ..For a raw beginner, who has few mechanical skills and wont be doing track days, with around 65hp and a flat torque curve, the classic UJM is ok for a starter bike.
  17. Yoshii -- How about this one? If you can get to Lexington, a Nighthawk is a reasonable starter bike. If the bike is as in the photos - grab it. Price is fair, and miles is good. Do it! https://lexington.craigslist.org/mcy/6175626150.html
  18. I have been using ....Hearos Ultimate Softness Series foam plus for years. NRR32 and all day comfortable. Tried plenty of others but keep coming back to these. Available near everywhere and cheap...
  19. Chances are on a 1500 dollar bike, there is something that needs fixing. Can you deal with that?
  20. Suh - weeet Zrx! Big Kudos to you dude!
  21. LBTS GLWS? Large boobs to suck - great lover wild sex?
  22. Cant fully see what you got going on there, but looks like you got a 90 degree connection. I might be tempted to find another battery lug and do a good crimp/solder and get some red heat shrinking around it so it is just a straight on connector. Also go looking for a cleaner fitting battery lug cover. - Plenty of different style out there.
