  1. I resemble that remark.... Imagine having to work with a bunch of asshat geniuses...
  2. Was only going to replace the rear tire, when suddenly I got an attack of the "while I'm at it disease"... (dammit, I did it again!)
  3. Adding to above... a very common problem with Honda''s starter solenoids is melting connectors....
  4. Check the wiring at the starter solenoid and relay. It could be burnt or have bad connectors. Other than that, I 'm kinda at the gotta be there stage and go to town a with a multimeter.....you have something that breaks conductivity when it warms up.
  5. Have you checked the charging system? Wahts volts at idle? Volts at 5000 RPM --- Stator check, pull connector... stator side connector, AB/BC/BA resistance, AB/BC/BA to ground, then AC volts on again AB/BC/BA - idle and 5000 rpms. See if you can do that.. Oh yeah.... Verify a good battery first under load. tested. and battery static volts? (I've fixed my share of Honda charging systems...) Noticing you have an '01 F4i... around then Honda was going cheap on charging components and the R/Rs were junk...
  6. So you would say Ducati and refinement in the same sentence? KInda yes and no? Ok, kinda showing my addiction, but refinement and reliability is VFR, mbe try one. The bikes have soul and a killer exhaust sound. - If you ride Ducs, you already understand soul. - (no inline 4 is ever gonna have that.)
  7. I like this detail stuff so....jumping in to stir up the pot ... Been screwing with bikes quite awhile now, and for a quick all surface cleaning and for kinda soiled areas, (not bad for bugs on the front fairing/windshield) my fav is the original bike spirits polish.. - the background on it is that is that the company used to supply Honda and was sold as Honda polish, then Honda screwed them and decided to drop them as a supplier...and the company decided to rebrand it for sale. Good all purpose stuff. Generally the first thing I grab to clean up something fast, sometimes on the car too. http://www.originalbikespirits.com/products/spray-cleaner-polish/ Then lately I have become more interested in detailing in general and have been in a try this, try that mode. Cant resist trying stuff out. Sorta an addiction.. I have an old Honda Accord to experiment shit on... Also been watching a lot of the Apex Detailing Videos on You Tube. Great stuff. That guy Brian does a great job on running product thru its paces.. Never realized that detailing is such an art.. I'm learning as I go, so below is just thing I've tried out, some good, some not so good. I have tried for paint pretreat, Meqs Ultimate compound and the Ultimate polish seems ok, I am kinda "meh" at it, but since I dont yet have a machine, its a lot of elbow grease. Another paint and surface cleaning polish I'm high on is Pinnacle Black Label Surface Cleaning Polish. Nice stuff, Iike it, ordered more. (no more Megs for that job) More shit...I was using Mequires Tech Wax 2 paste wax awhile, that made the paint pop out. Really liked it.. They discontinued it and it only available in liquid now... (As usual, if I like it, it gets discontinued) Other shit #2 - Then playing with Chemical Guys stuff. Seems like some stuff is only worth the round file and then with all the multitude of products, seems like they have one base product and they add different coloring.. I spent too much trying stuff, but anyhoo, a few things I discovered l like... Tryed out the spray swift wipe Waterless Car Wash -- I give it a "whoa" that works better than expected. Nice clean and shine, paint pops out. Works on windows too. I am going to keep using it... like it. https://www.chemicalguys.com/swift-wipe-waterless-car-wash/swift-wipe-waterless-wash.html Couple others Chemical Guys... Wet Mirror Finish.. https://www.chemicalguys.com/wet-mirror-finish-glaze/wet-mirror-finish-glaze.html And Extreme Top Coat Sealant. https://www.chemicalguys.com/extreme-top-coat-wax-and-sealant-in-one/extreme-top-coat.html Like I said I like to experiment - I have a bottle of each above, just for grins I made up a 50/50 mix of the 2 and used it on my 20 year old Honda VFR with read paint. I have to say Holy shit - wow! Made the give me a ticket red paint jump out. Very wet looking. Very slick feel. Damn I like it! - I think I will keep doing that. - Then tried it on my old Honda Accord, same result, looks like wet paint, very nice. Now I have a random orbital polisher on my Christmas list, and will keep trying stuff, but first I have to use up all this other products up.. There's prolly 6 or 8 other bottles or tins of product I've bought to use up. This is kinda expensive try out hobby... -------------> So I know there's probly a few detailers or two on this board.... what do you like? Cheers and many beers
  8. There are some really great resto-mod bikes there, bike lust indeed. The sounds give me goosebumps... .. Dont remember? Lots of cannabis was passed around back then...
  9. Looking for CNC guy for some occasional small milling small batch work. I have had a couple guys do this as "off duty" work so the cost wasnt hateful. Would like to do the same again..... Part is 6061 T6 Aluminum. I have prints and example to show... PM for interest plz, and mbe we can talk about a quote. - I have a small CAD work job too... AutoCAD or whatever you got...
  10. ^^^^^^ Whoa, I bet that makes it a royal bitch to ride in the twistys...
  11. Tire manufacturers make round tires? Mbe I should get some of those....
  12. I do know that.. .but typically its a waste of bucks.... they dont discharge sitting still.
  13. Just some 2 cents on these from a geek foole.. .... - I have been using a LiFePO4 type of battery for 5 years in my VFR and I do like it. Very good cranking power and zero maintenance. (I just bought my 2nd one for these season, so 5 years on the first) -- - I think the mistake people tend to do with these is to treat them like a LeadAcid or AGM. --They are a different animal. (Would you feed dog food to a cat?)--- In a normal lifetime, the LiFePO4 never need charging unless you screw up and discharge it. Also your bike charging system needs to be in top shape. Come winter, my routine is to disconnect and bring it in the house, set on my desk, You do need to pull it inside for winter. ...For grins I measure voltage... 13.23v for October.... 13.20v for March. Do not put them on a tender.
  14. The latest version of the VFR800s (8th gens) havent been selling well and new leftovers are going insanely cheap ~ $5k-$7k - if you are willing to shop out of state. Even used prices are dropping like a rock.... Sooo tempting - from a VFR addict guy...
  15. Quite an insane torque curve! More Torque at idle than the VFR at full bore!
