  1. Dear Honda, Please build......... Thank you
  2. I'm def a cheap car addict. I am on my 3rd older Honda Accord that I bought with 91K miles($2000) , and now it has 160k, & will run it to 230 ish.... Its kinda formula now, buy at 90,000ish miles, sell at over 200k. - Agreed more money for bikes.... Only have 2 bikes now, but for a while I had $30k worth of bikes and a $3000 car.....
  3. Joe's is the only Dayton area Triumph dealer I know of. Can't say I have experience with them - I never will let a dealer or anybody other than me work on my rides.

    Holy crap

Wow! Gets the blood pumping..Lotsa chances for disaster!
  5. On the VFR forums/threads, its an over discussed topic on how the spot welds on the K&N nut on the end of the filter fatigue and create a leak.... No chance I'm using one of those... And a btw - here's a good chart on oil filter alternatives http://www.calsci.com/motorcycleinfo/FilterXRef.html Cheers and beers....
  6. Nice wheels....check me in the spring....
  7. yeah I have been been screwing with the network settings and figured out how to disable any WiFi stuff. I helped some, but still a couple times a surf session, it decides something is wrong and goes looking for another network. Drives me nutz... Cortana? That's MicroSofts version of an active spy to data mine your every move even if you dont want it to. (bastards)
  8. Hate to dredge up an oldish thread, but... I did the Win 10 conversion and compared the 8.1 it keeps trying to find other networks, dropping off the internet. But I am direct cable to the modem via Ethernet and then direct cable to TW. I have no intention of going Wi Fi in my house. Any hints on setting up this POS so it stops looking for alternate networks that arent there? Thanks for any help....
  9. Whose gonna write a Cortana killer patch?
  10. Couldnt figure out what was on sale and what was not.
  11. I second that - get a paint brush, brush around all the dirty shit, hose off.
  12. Thanks I.P. - I guess after screwing with VFRs - my own and others, for 17years, you could probly say I know a few things VFR, even in the nasty pink spots.
  13. Hey oldschool --- I am probly the resident 5th gen VFR addict. I have ridden the 6th gens, but to me the VTEC sucks. Anyhoo - Its just me,but I look for the lowest mile, cleanest bike I can find. Then on the 5th gens, there were 2 versions, MK1 ('98s and'99s) and MK2 (00s and 01s). The MK1 have slightly larger headers and no cat, and a manual fast idle lever, and a tic more ponies over the MK2s. Also the Fi in the MK1s are an open loop system were the MK2s were a closed loop system. The weak link in any is the charging system sucks, but that can be fixed for a long life if you know what to do. Throwing it out there, the most coveted is a clean '99. The engines are essentially bullet proof, there are plenty of 100k mile examples. Maintenance is straight forward stuff, valve adjustments are generally check once over 32k miles and then forget it. Other stuff - Most guys upgrade the suspension, the stock is kinda soft and steers like a truck. After an upgrade, its a respectable corner carver. Then some guys like the linked brakes and some curse them, there are ways around that. (I installed RC51 brakes.) Really as a group, the thing is a blank canvas and the farkles will flow. Look at my albums for ideas. I would be happy to go check one out if you want to look at one. PM anytime.
  14. Road a buddy's R3 recently and it was a riot. Beat the snot out of it and engine screaming in 3rd and I'm doing a whole 65. Fun as hell. Definitely would be interesting in working on conservation of momentum in the twists.
  15. Cool looking Triple you got there Scott. How long you been riding?
  16. Jeez dude, that's a recipe for eventually going kersplat someplace.
  17. Lemme guess, charging system is not charging?
  18. Congrats - The VFR geeks hang out at www.VFRdiscussion. com if you are interested. (including me)
  19. A bit of a different style and they werent popular, but get a ride on one. Super smooth, super comfy, good handling and brakes and mondo torque off idle. (95 ft-lbs) Also goes with my aversion to twins. Its an engine with a bike wrapped around it. Oh yeah, badass sounding engine too....
  20. Ok, I'll bite... A month or so ago, when I got pissed off at the cheapo gauge I had been using and took a sledgehammer to it, I decided to get something stupid outrageous for replacement and got this Longacre gauge with a 3 1/2 inch dial. It holds pressure until you release it, and 2 bleed valve buttons on the head, and the chuck swivels to fit wherever you need it. Its a bit OCD, but I get a certain giddy satisfaction of using something that works stupid outrageously well.
  21. If I stumble into a RZ350 in good shape for sale, it wont take much for me to make a deal right there. - What a rush........
  22. I bought a new tower a couple months ago with 8.1 - hate it but getting used to it. But occasionally I get the Win10 pop up off and on and have been turning it down. Should I just bite the bullet and upgrade?
  23. Cropduster..... Disclaimer is hitting all the questions that you need to think about. Plus you need to think about how you can do the school work to get the degree. Your statement "I like tearing things apart to see what makes them tick. The who, how, where, what, and why. Figuring out how they work and can I improve them? Make them stronger, lighter, smaller, and so on. This goes for my sports car, my motorcycle, RC car, quad coptor, stuff around the house etc. " reminds me of myself - I followed that into mechanical engineering. - You should also consider what engineering is hot - electrical, robotics, controls, manufacturing and whether you would be up to move to a job. I have done a lot of years in automotive engineering and some were enjoyable and some years sucked. And engineering jobs typically are salary, you own your tasks and need to take the time to get it done on time, even if you need to crack into more than 40 hours. I have done 8 hour days and then some 16 hour days. There are still some good companies and some bad ones. So, you need to step back and soul search and decide if you want to put in the work to get there. If you decide "yes" , dont waste any time getting to school, a degree is the minimum to start. You can PM me if you have any questions....
  24. The thing about 555 is that it is damn hard, technical and up and down. You have to muster all the skill you got and all your focus to ride it well. That is the attraction.
