I check the rim balance after dismount and before new tire goes on. Mark the heavy spot and place the dot at my mark. This results in much less weight to balance after tire is mounted. The valve stem is almost never the heavy spot on the rim, as the metal removed for the stem hole is heavier than the valve stem that replaces it. Many tires do not come with a light spot marked anymore... Michelin comes to mind.

To make this worse, government research money gets funneled to "scientists" who politely support EPA regulations and propagate fear so we hand over more cash. Those who disagree get blacklisted and no research money. We end up with junk science and acceptance of never ending regulation designed to separate us from our money.

Yamaha is having a rough time with recent models and recalls. Has anything redesigned or new models not had a recal in the last 4-5 years? Very out of character.

@DerekClouser we should take a recon trip down and see and talk to people to make this a little easier. Just like New Concord. Then it will be official with no surprises.

The build quality is way beyond the price point. Probably not as much engineering as a top tier exhaust with regard to power and sound waves, but for the money it's hard to do better.

If you want it shiny and super level there are ingredients that can be added. The texture is mostly from the pitting from the rust. The tank was trashed before clean out.

Never use that crap! i have been cleaning with muriatic acid and then electro plating (galvanize with zinc). If you have a welder and not afraid to make a simple zinc solution, it's very easy. The results are a new tank that won't rust for a very long time if ever. Will do a step by step with pictures if there is interest. Here is a moped tank that my son and I did recently... it's been a year and still looks like new!

I like the looks of the bandit, but I tend to love all naked bikes.
