  1. Ha, my experience in BJ has been similar. One time I had a woman to my left paying me $25 to not "take her card." Another time I had a whole table hating me and then cheering when an ill-advised hit from the anchor position ended up busting the dealer. It's a seven deck shuffle you idiots. If you play it perfect you only win 49% of the time.
  2. I inexplicably lost my balls. I progressed with instruction through my first three years of track days. Year four I came out and just didn't feel like pushing, so I decided I was going to just ride around at a comfortable pace. I assumed that just through experience the comfortable pace would increase. I think what happened instead is I got so locked into the same pace that anything ever the slightest bit faster was instantly uncomfortable. First day of year five I was seven seconds off my pace from the previous year and blamed it on a GP shift setup. Second day I was seven seconds slower than that. Thought about dropping the cash on race tires/warmers/generator for bolt-on confidence, but instead just threw in the towel. I wasn't 100% confident in the bike I was riding year 5, and a particular accident did cross my mind a few times, but I am not sure if these were causes or effects. Basically my advice if you want to go faster is to not spend much time just riding around out there, always seek instruction and be willing to push just that little bit more. I hope to be back at some point I just needed the reset.

    Insurance

Just a heads up, got a GEICO policy update today and they finally added "operation or use of a motor vehicle on a track designed primarily for racing or high speed driving" to my exclusions. I was freerolling under the previous policy of "driven in or preparing for any racing, speed or demolition contest." Basically this means "track day" or "driver school" activities are no longer covered. Most companies added such verbage long ago. This is my auto policy but I'm sure an MC policy is similar.
  4. MCO is good as gold to me. No transfer/tax BS and proof that the bike was never titled if for some reason you need to go get one.
  5. I would never buy something with no documentation whatsoever. If it was never titled I want the MCO. If the title was lost get another. If the title was never transferred because "it's just a track bike" I want the last copy. The worst part of having something with no title is trying to sell it. If you buy it then you're the next sucker.
  6. I should have done this to the wheels on my car before race pad dust in the rain destroyed them.
  7. That's quite a loaded statement. I think I see what you did there. If that's the case I have to say I have learned way more from control riders than instructors. I don't have any particular loyalties, just pure customer experience.
  8. How steep can a gravel driveway possibly be? I bet you could ride it pretty normal. Bike is most stable with both feet on the pegs, the rear brake may be enough to control your speed depending on traction, but you should probably be prepared to use the front. Your dead-engine clutching sounds like a terrible idea.
  9. I think I'm more comfortable with close passes that most people my speed having raced various four-wheel vehicles competitively wheel-to-wheel. I bet alot of track day only riders out there connecting their cones are out of their comfort zone instantly when they need to compromise their line to accommodate someone passing, especially near the entrance of a corner. Instead of making a minor line adjustment they get spooked and stand it up. I think that right there is the spirit of the difference in passing rules between intermediate and advanced, but it happens in intermediate due to bad judgement, and not everybody in "advanced" really is.
  10. I dunno... that was my first reaction. Just seems like social prime time.
  11. Don't know what the original link was but there is a blog that fits at http://1975triumphtrident.com
  12. It's still on the market without caffeine. I had one for the first time the other day. I'm going to start mixing it with Monster. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZrEe3JcsYWQ
  13. Bagged quite a few with my NES Light Zapper back in the day.
  14. I would love to tell those people to their face that the world is better off without their offspring.

    Spotting scopes

I was definitely hoping for something <$100 that someone found that worked. Thanks for the input. And IIRC those splatter targets don't really do anything with .223.

    Spotting scopes

What's the cheapest thing I can buy to see .22 holes in white paper at 100yds?

  18. Had both those, as my dad worked in cellular since way back when. The cool thing about the bag phone was putting it in the golf bag. Then you put it in the car and screwed in the antenna. Remember when people put the fake antennas on their cars to look cool? Then I remember walking around with that flip phone in my back pocket. People didn't even know what the hell it was. There was actually a slim battery that lasted about 15 minutes, that one pictured maybe an hour. IIRC another advantage of the bag phone was the FCC defined it differently and it could transmit at a full watt while the handhelds can only do 0.6 or something like that.
  19. What Scruit said. My buddy got clobbered turning left by a girl running a red and they told him he was at fault because oncoming traffic has the right-of-way no matter what. You should be good guy.

    Browns

It was the closest spread in the NFL at -1. P.S. It's the PIT/CIN game this week (-1.5). Hope the Bengals can do it to Pittsburgh.
  23. Pretty sure AMA doesn't get $$ from TV, but rather pays for the timeslot.

Because you have Dish Network and didn't get to see all the "AMC is not on Dish Network" commercials on AMC.
