  1. This pope seems like an O.K. guy. If he gets shit done that needs to be done I don't see a problem with it. As to the question of where the pope came from, all kingdoms need a king.
  2. I should mention that after about 5 minutes of dicking around the bike eventually starts up like nothing was ever wrong. Thanks for the replies.

Ah damnit. Was out late and slept through your post... oh well. Was a beautiful day, must have been nice.
  4. The street triple has been giving me some issues every now and then when I try to start it. It happens both with cold starts and after it has been running for a while. I'm curious if there are any Triumph know-it-all's on here that might know what the issue is. Here's what happens: All things set to "on" on the bike, kick stand up, ready to start. All electric is working. Hit the start button All electric cuts out for a few seconds and then comes back. All trip meters, clock and whatever else is reset to 0.0/erased. Sometimes it takes a couple minutes for the electric to come back at all (bike is totally dead with key set to on position), sometimes it is instantaneous. Playing with the clutch sensor wires/under the ignition harness doesn't seem to do anything noticeable. Not ruling this out though. Battery connection is solid and not oxidized. One concern I have is that the original owner did some minor electrical work to the bike in order to install heated grips. May be a short/damaged wire due to this? The problem has gotten progressively worse since I picked the bike up in May. At first the ignition wouldn't work once in a blue moon (starter button pressed, nothing happens) but I wouldn't lose electric. Not sure if the current issue is related or if it's a totally separate problem? Any help with this is appreciated. Thanks!
  5. It's going to be a fun story to follow over the next few months.
  6. If I were to ever get an adv bike it would probably be a Strom. I'd have to live in Africa or something though.
  7. gonna be some cheap VW's soon. waiting for the "please please please help us recover the $27 billion we lost to our stock price plummeting and multiple governments fining our *cough*illegal*cough* activities" sales.
  8. I heard somewhere that if you don't turn the key, hit the kill switch and deploy the side stand at exactly the same time you risk permanently damaging your bike and possible serious injury to your person.
  9. Generally kill switch. Habit from growing up on snowmobiles I guess.
  10. I take it reliability is an issue with the WRX then? Not to get off-topic or anything. I was also looking at an Impreza sport hatch. The low horsepower and CVT is a concern though.
  11. How bad of a decision is it to buy a used WRX? I'd be looking at like 60-70k miles hopefully. I've heard some horror stories of people buying a seemingly nice used WRX only to have the engine implode because the previous owner was some asshat bro who loved pinging the rev limiter. Just wondering if these are wives tales or something to actually be wary of. Besides subie I'm also looking at Mazda3/MazdaSpeed.
  12. Makes me regret not making my ride Sunday. Next weekend... Next weekend.

  14. Cool. I have only ever been down through that area once (all my time has been spent over by Marietta/Coshocton) so if you have any suggestions I'm completely open.
  15. kk, so BP4569 S High StColumbus, OH 43207 at 9:30am Looking at 374 as a good road down there56 might be ok as a connector278 looks nice and curvy550 and 555 if we get that far east something like this? (just a suggestion) https://www.google.com/maps/d/edit?mid=ztgfqYgvb8DY.kQFQZkoYLPRg&usp=sharing
  16. For me it just depends on what I'm feeling like tomorrow. I'll say brisk is what I'll be riding, though that means different things to different people. I don't mind waiting at stops for anyone that wants to take it easy.
  17. I may be. What time were you thinking of heading out?
  18. yeah the K3 SV's have their own parts. its '99-'02 and then '04-'09. you'd probably have to buy OEM for any part replacement, or at least it would be a challenge finding used crap on eBay/wherever (unless you go aftermarket). **looks like the owner of that VFR got a surprise vasectomy looking at the tank...

This weekend is probably my last weekend for rides this year (out of town pretty much all of October). Anyone planning on being out and about? Probably Sunday since Saturday is looking rainy plus birthday obligations.
  21. Can't make October date, will be in Anaheim. Not that I matter at all.
  22. Lo and behold I woke up sick. Great. Afraid I've got to bow out too, gotta try to shake this before tomorrow. Have a good ride guys! More doughnuts for the rest of you.
  23. I'm going to go ahead and just head over to New Concord on my own tomorrow morning. If anyone is still heading over that way from the west end, don't wait for me at the hamilton road meet point.
  24. Temps are looking like mid 50's to lower 60's tomorrow. just a friendly reminder to consider something other than that mesh jacket and pants.
