  1. Even with due process, public sentiment is almost always against the accused. It's very in vogue to rail against "sex offenders" when half of them are simply the guys who got caught doing the same things everyone else did when they were young. There are, of course, cases that are terrible stories of how sick some people can be, but half the people convicted are subject to stupid laws that are a complete overreaction to one or two extreme cases.
  2. If he wants a Ninja 500 motor in great shape, I know where he can find one
  3. What a waste of a beautiful bike Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  4. I think you should add a Ninja 500 to your stable! I'll spare you the pictures of the 3x Dodge Stealths I owned
  5. LOL, she calls it an "access" instead of an "axis."
  6. Failing that, I might be seeing Pauly this week, and he appears to live halfway to Frazeysburg. We could always do a pass-off from one member to another until it gets there... Sort of a sisterhood of the travelling netbook?
  7. When my wife & I went white water rafting on the Youghiogheny river on a Laurel Highlands River tour, we hit a "zipline adventure park" the day prior that looked a lot like that... It was a blast! It took us about 30-45 minutes to make it through the course the first time, and after that, we could each do it in about ten! And the ONLY thing that changed was our own confidence level. Still blows my mind.
  8. I'm boring, I'd probably just pay off me & the wife's car, and then put the rest toward the mortgage.
  9. I.... don't like the taste of beer *grips man-card tightly to prevent it from being taken away.* I DO like guns and boobies, honest!
  10. Whoops! I think I mixed up Marietta and Ravenna in my head, when I was google-mapping. Um, they both end in an "A?" Stupid me, I've even BEEN to Pauly's before, and I didn't think I rode that far! Thank goodness my Angel of Salvation is only 1 hour away in Ravenna and not 2.5, and thank you everyone else who replied... I'll definitely go over some details with Pauly before state8 (and hopefully instead-of). This seriously ruined my evening last night, after this happened, and I've been in a "funk" ever since... You know know how it is, when you do something stupid and it keeps you from riding... And I have no one to blame but myself. P - The instructions I used are here: http://www.justsomedude.com/riding/ShiftKitQAD.pdf I didn't take many pictures, but tomorrow night I plan to go back & open everything up, pull out the parts and the bolt, so I might have a better idea, then, if it's the bolt, a bent rocker arm, or the only option left - The bolt hole. I can try threading the bolt without the rocker arm to see if it seats. If it doesn't, well, maybe we'll get lucky and this'll be the kind of thing that's fixable in a garage, and won't even require bike transportation. here are two pics I have now... The removed parts, and the bolt hole empty. I'll take more tomorrow night... The instructions will give you a good idea of the issue, though... Basically, there's a gear in front of the bolt hole that prevents easy insertion of the bolt My level of frustration and desperation is at about a 7.5 right now.... BJ's don't start until about 8, but cash is certainly on the table Thanks for your responses guys... I was worried for some reason that maybe the engine block material couldn't be tapped for new threads or something... I have a little more hope now that this is fixable, and maybe even reasonably soon.
  11. Long story short, I tried to install a shift kit myself and may have stripped out a bolt/hole the bolt threads into. I'll be able to dig into the bike tomorrow and remove everything to determine exactly what the issue is, but I have a bad feeling I stripped some threads. Can a shop tap & die a hole to fix it? It was a shift kit designed to provide crisper shifts to eliminate second-gear wear & prevent missed shifts. It involved a new spring & detent/rocker arm. I took out the old, installed the new, and then went to torque the bolt to spec and it just kept spinning. I may have cross-threaded it? I followed instructions designed to install this without removing the clutch, which may have been a mistake I'll probably end up taking my bike to state8 for repair, since that's the closest service department that I know of. (Pauly and Hoblick are both 2+ hrs away). Should I just call my insurance and ask for a flatbed tow? The bike is at my mother's in Cleveland heights, and I don't even know if Riders has a mileage limit on free roadside assistance. Sigh.
  12. I'd say go for it. Getting sued is a worst-case scenario, and it's clear that since WE ALL RIDE MOTORCYCLES, we're not willing to be deterred by a worst-case scenario. That said, I do understand what Ben is saying.
  13. I'm in the Magic: The Gathering community, and we have a well-known Cosplayer named Christine Spranklerun. She's most famous for portraying a character named Elspeth Tirel, but she also does other characters frequently. Here she is Liliana Vess: Amanda Cohen as Liliana Vess: It's hotties dressing up in seductive dresses, and walking around with swords and armor? What's not to like?
  14. How many police should die or be injured by trying to "shoot to incapacitate" before we remember the lessons they've learned the hard way? If you decide to use deadly force, then it needs to be deadly. If there are issues with that, it needs to be when to make the decision, NOT how much force to use.
  15. I was at the Country Jam with my wife yesterday, and everywhere I looked, all I saw was Bud Light, hahahaha. I mean, usually being held by an anonymous hottie in short-shorts and a tank top, but still. It made me think of this thread
  16. Ride it there and don't do anything stupid on the way. If you have an old plate or a plate from another bike, put that on, just so that it has SOMETHING. If you have a bill of sale to go with the title, carry both, so that if you DO get stopped, you can say "I literally just bought this, and here's proof, and I'm on my way to the BMV RIGHT NOW."
  17. I've had my tires swapped by IP and he did a great job. As long as you don't talk about politics or religion or anything controversial.... Really, though, he knows his stuff and does a great job.
  18. So this motorcycle ride has been planned longer than his wedding? well, I can tell you which one will be more fun That sucks, I was looking forward to seeing you again.
  19. I'll try and have them cut at the local hardware store... Last time I did this (a few years ago, for my other yzf600) I did the same thing... Spend $5-$10 on 2x keys from hong kong, via eBay, and took them to Dunn Hardware to have them cut. I don't even think he charged me for some reason, though... Maybe because he couldn't guarantee they'd work? I plan to take along my work's bathroom key and have that copied, as well, that way I'm at least buying SOMEthing. I'll let you know how it goes & if I have problems.
  20. Got some key blanks and a puck that I ordered. I prefer the blue Yamaha key to the plain black stocker. I'll get them cut this weekend. The puck is just in case, and only until I find a nicer one
