    Ear Plugs

Just a word of warning to everyone.... My HMCS (That's a Hospitalman, Senior Chief, or in other words, very highly ranked enlisted man, Corpsman) always SWORE by NOT re-using disposable plugs. He said that bacteria lives in ear wax, and the plugs are porous, and are basically gigantic incubators for bacteria that can cause ear infections. This was over 10 years ago, so you can tell I had it drilled into my memory Obviously, lots of people are doing this with no problems, but just keep that in mind... You don't want to be the one guy that DOES get the ear infection from re-using *disposable* ear plugs.
  2. Allright youngstown! About 1.5 hours from me. Now I need another bike!

    Ear Plugs

I use one of those bluetooth headsets that goes around the neck, then has two in-ear buds. I find they do isolation pretty well. I mainly ride on the highway, and I have a cheap helmet (Bilt) so I get a lot of wind noise. Those help block it out... Plus music on full volume lets me concentrate on patterned noise instead of white noise, at least.
  4. You have a headlight out LOL, Congrats!
  5. The target audience for a CBR-500R are not the DIYers who want a project bike. You're right that it might be low mileage, but it's only cheap because it needs $2,000 worth of work. Why not fix it up and sell it as a complete bike? Might get more interest.
  6. That's super cheap! Little scared of a '99 though... Would like something newer And I keep telling myself that my next bike will be fuel injected
  7. I'd much rather have a fly or mosquito in the house than a spider... one is a minor annoyance, the other induces terror on an instinctive level

  9. Yep, I let her go, for a variety of reasons. It's now the fourth motorcycle I've bought, then re-sold for pofit I know there's something to be said for bike familiarity, but I kind of like the idea of buying a bike when I find a good deal, riding for free, and then selling for profit. Link here: http://cleveland.craigslist.org/mcy/5012966591.html I put that up May 6th as a half-assed post to see if anyone would bite. Not a single reply! Even one of the pictures is a re-post from the ad where I bought it, haha. The second is from the gas station before I rode it home. Two days ago, I get a single bite... Guy asking if I'd take a diamond engagement ring in trade. Ha, nope. Then, yesterday, an email in broken English... Roberto, it turns out, was helping his friend buy a bike for his son. The friend didn't speak English that well, so Roberto was acting as a translator. They needed a bike before Sunday, when the son arrived, and I know an opportunity when I see one. Apparently, the son had a GSXR-750 for 5 days before hitting a deer on 271. Loved riding. They were discussing fixing it, but the dad and Roberto were apparently setting up lots of appointments to look at various bikes. Roberto clearly chose me because of location... he lives about 5 minutes away. I suggested a meeting that night, and he was all for it. The Ad was posted for $4,000, and after looking at the bike, Roberto asked me the lowest I could go. I should've said $3,750, but instead, I said $3,500. He told me his friend had $3,000 in cash, and $300 more in an ATM they could run and get if I was willing. I agreed. Done deal (assuming they don't call me back tomorrow wanting backsies! ) Anyway, now I can buy another bike and ride around until I sell THAT one... This was my second YZF-600, and I still think they're GREAT bikes... I wouldn't mind fuel-injected, though, one day. I'm still not ready for anything bigger, in terms of weight OR horsepower, as it had more than enough get-up-and-go for me. I still don't trust myself not to abuse greater power, if available. After all, riding is all about managing risk, eh? Anyway, I'll still be hanging around, and it's very likely not my last bike. Off to browse bikes for sale...
  10. If my wife didn't hate guns..... Actually, she wants a new house... I'm going to use "we'll need home defense, once we have a nicer home" As a bargaining chip, haha.
  11. No, and the credit card company wasn't allowed to tell me officially who it was, either. But I asked if it was them (Everyone in the office figured out what had happened long before the CC companies did). All the CC rep could tell me was that they'd received information saying cards had been compromised. There were a couple of waves... I wasn't in the first wave of my coworkers who got hit, so I was hoping I'd be skipped.
  12. What condo complex? The wife and I are interested in upgrading to a 3 bedroom, and I want another condo. I was on the board for mine, for a short time.... LOTS of drama always going on, somewhere or other
  13. West 6th has no class, just alcohol, yeah. As for Barley House... a couple months ago, about 20 of us at work ate there over the course of a month or so, and we ALL had our credit card #'s stolen and used out-of-state. Turns out Barley House or whatever got hacked Yeah... it might be right across the street, but we don't eat there anymore.
  14. West 6th street is basically the street full of bars & clubs. head there if you're feeling young and frisky. The Goodtime III you mentioned earlier is a good idea. If you want to see sights on the waterfront, check out the USS Codd, a WWII Submarine that offers tours. Nearby is the William G. Mather, a huuuuuuge Great Lakes Coal transport that does tours. it's also possible they offer fireworks watching... aw hell I'll look it up for you. BRB. Yep, they're doing a "Rock and Boom." http://www.greatscience.com/exhibits/steamship-william-g-mather.aspx Anyway, the science center can be fun, also, but probly more so with kids. Of course, the Rock N Roll hall of fame. I don't go out much, so that's all the suggestions I have
  15. Raise the idle and you'll find it easier to pull away without adding throttle.
  16. Congrats! Would've gone with blue, though
  17. wait, wait, I changed my mind, I wanna go after all!
  18. Pauly doesn't have thigh gap, really... and it's not camel toe... what's the correct term for those three pixel's worth of light shining through? Soooo studly, whatever it is!
  19. I'm still using the boots I bought from you last year, and I love 'em. (free bump!)

    Free horse

On Thursday, Sept 18th, 2014, we were talking about mules and horses at work. I was getting attacked because I defended mules. I knew they were naturally superior, since I'd previously bought my stepmom a book she requested from her Amazon.com wishlist, called... The natural superiority of Mules: http://www.amazon.com/Natural-Superiority-Mules-John-Hauer/dp/1592288642/ref=sr_1_2?s=books&ie=UTF8&qid=1431108247&sr=1-2&keywords=natural+superiority+of+mules (If you read it on the internet, and there's a book on it at Amazon, it has to be true, right?) Anyway, was talking out my ass and clearly needed backup, so I sent my stepmom one text, saying "Help! Being attacked at work, defending mules! Why are they better than horses!?" She wrote all this back, via text message: Oh gosh, where to begin? The primary superior aspect is their hybrid rigor. Since are a hybrid, resulting from breeding a female horse with a male donkey, they have a stronger immune system and are longer lived than either of their parents breed. As hybrid creatures, they are sterile, and therefore not victimized by the cruelties of hormonal fluctuations. Neither are their owners and riders, and so are less likely to be abused by are riled up stallion or a moody mare. They have the best qualities of both parent breeds, and show signs of greater intelligence and independent thinking than horses whose behaviors are ruled by response to herd activities. Their hooves are harder and require less maintenance, can often go without shoes and the related expense except for if only used on pavement. Their eyes are located more forward in their skulls, affording them greater forward vision to anticipate trouble on the trail ahead. Horses can only see to the side, putting them at a great disadvantage visually, especially when moving forward. For a rider like me with lousy double vision and no depth perception, riding a mule prevents a great many accidents. They have an innate sense of self preservation that makes them avoid danger. This is where the misperception of stubborn comes in: They will stop on a trail rather than move on if there is a hazard ahead. They have been known to kill mountain lions in defense of their riders - Kind of the doberman of the equine genus. They walk as a faster natural pace than horses, so can cover more ground in a day. Excellent for long range riding. They are also more durable and rugged than horses, less susceptible to injury and illness. They can be trained to do anything a horse will do - jumping, hauling, dressage, team driving - and can be bred to any size - draft mule to mini mule... Versatile, charming, witty, affectionate - but always free-thinking. Then she sent me a heart emoji and a "mule" emoji, hahaha. I'll spread the word. honestly, she has a soft spot for mules, but she likes horses too
