If you're trying to make it look like an old school cafe, Spokes are hands down the direction you should go. Didn't realize they made a spoked virago. Why are you ditching the modern front end? It looks sweet on there. A few guys on sohc4.net have successfully built front ends for bikes with USD forks, modern brakes and spoked wheels. Really awesome looking, if you can find brake calipers that will clear the spokes.

Why are you wanting a 16 inch front? You COULD probably cut and splice two wheels together, but i would think just finding a nice 17 inch off any semi modern sportbike would fit with the theme, and be a hell of a lot easier. Hell, just throw a complete front end on, probably would be the easiest way to go. Or are you wanting to keep that spoke pattern? 16 inch front wheels never looked right to me.

I usually only wave when the temp drops below 60 or so. I make exceptions for old bikes, cool weird bikes, and hot girls. Yesterday i waved at an old lady hauling ass through some corners on a pink Metropolitan (I think) scooter. I waved cause i thought it was hilarious she was tearing it up on that thing.

I borrowed a friends 1977 GS750 over the weekend, and rode with a pair of harleys, usually following a good distance back so i could take corners at my pace, and not parking lot speed. One of them is a non-waver, and was making fun of it. I told them, just sell the harleys and get a Japanese bike. I laughed watching oncoming bikes wave to both harleys, and quickly retract their hand when they saw my 4 pipes.

I haven't even bothered to drink it now that it's without caffeine. The old stuff made me get a little.. rowdy. The hangovers off that stuff were epic.. I can get fall down shit faced drunk on beer, and be semi-functional the next day. Even just 2 cans of four loco and nothing else, and I can't hardly open my eyes without puking the next day.

I've had others before that one, The alpinestars one is ridiculously warm, and puts every other one to shame. Its got one fleece layer that goes under the jacket, and another layer that goes over the jacket collar that is rain and wind proof, with a draw string to pull it air tight. Well worth the money. I can't recommend it enough. When it gets below zero i tuck a carhart neck gaiter between the layers of the balaclava for added warmth. Keeping your head and neck warm is key to staying warm when its that cold out. This year i'll probably break down and get some electric gear, but i'm not sure if my charging system can handle it. I've made it 3 full winters without electrics, but at about 15 degrees or below i can only ride for about a half hour before i can't go any further.

Sniper, I hope i get pulled over by you someday. My first time getting pulled over i didn't think about taking off the helmet. The first thing the cop did was SCREAM at me to take off my helmet, hand on his gun. I did turn the bike off though. Now it's kickstand down, bike off, pull the key, remove gloves and helmet and stay seated on the bike. I'm kinda leery of getting off the bike, since you don't get out of the car when you get pulled over, just doesn't seem right to step off the bike until asked to do so. Maybe i should to make eye contact? Dunno.

I've found that cops usually give you a break if you actually stop. I got clocked at 89 in a 55, got a ticket for 70. The only reason i didn't make a run for it was it was 25 degrees or so and i didn't trust my tires to be sticky at all. Cop was hauling in the other direction and it took him quite a bit of time to get turned around and catch up with me, and i had already slowed to 55. There is a reason i now ride a 34 horsepower bike, I have no self control.

Through traffic traffic or on city streets... Doesn't have an ice cubes chance in hell on an interstate devoid of traffic. Probably had more cops up ahead. I'm curious to what the outcome of it was. Any idea where this happened?

Poor guy on that DRZ is fucked... He's probably the only one they could catch on a stretch of wide open interstate. Did the cops set up the roadblock to write reckless driving tickets? Seems like a huge waste of everyone's time. Stunting is dumb, period. I've had bikes split by me on one wheel while i was driving at 10-15 over the speed limit. To the average car driver, that is the same as when i split by them at 15-20 while they're at a crawl. Since i'm going slow and they see me coming, they have time to react/ block me/ throw shit at me. Dipshits like this are why we can't lane split legally.

I wore thinsulate rubber dipped work gloves inside a pair of welding gloves until i bought a pair of Olympia snow mobile gloves. The welding gloves worked well, and took to waterproofing fairly decent. The trick is get gloves with the longest gauntlet you can find. Warm gloves won't do shit if cold air is leaking onto the bottom of your wrists. The snowmobile gloves have a draw string to seal the gauntlet around your jacket, and are waterproof. My hands stay warm down into the teens with no electric support. Anything above 50, and my hands are sweating like crazy, these things are WARM. The downside is limited armor protection, I'm thinking about investing in these this winter: http://www.britishmotorcyclegear.com/Gloves.asp I've read they are the warmest gloves you can get without relying on electricity. My electrical output is very limited on my bike. I've also heard good things about these: http://www.hippohands.com/ They kinda look stupid, and unless you're planning on riding in extreme cold probably not worth it.

It's not even in my top 20 beers... But for the price it's hard to beat it. I'd definitely drink it before a Bud light/miller lite/coors light. My go to sit on the couch beer is Great lakes burning river though... Wonderful stuff. Can't exactly drink those all night. Well, you can, I just don't recommend it. I'm excited just because i'm sure it will show up pretty heavy in bars, and i can drink something other than coors light. I hate it when i go somewhere, ask what they have, and the girl says "everything," Rattle off about 5 fairly common beers, and of course they have none of them. 95% of the time they don't even have coors banquet. Fuck it, coors light, again. I really hope it ends up at the same price point as the macrobrews, since it is one. I can see bars trying to charge a premium for it though. My friend just brewed a beer he calls "Lawnmower". Goes down like its water, but actually has a little flavor. It's a BMC knockoff recipe he got off a brewers forum, but with a dash of hops. It lives up to it's name. Perfect hot weather beer.

Damn, i can't imagine getting that hot/being that lean can be good for an engine. Fucking epa. My 73 Honda runs cool enough that i can grab the exhaust collector barehanded after about 2 minutes of being shut off, and pull the thing up onto the center stand. Nice and rich buddy. Hell, i don't even have to choke it to start until the temp drops below about 45-50. I love laughing at harleys starting cause they always take SOO long to start. A wimpy little girl could kick start this thing, and it would start first kick.

Who cares what he could get out of it if he sold it. I wouldn't doubt he has 25K in that bike, dealer installation charges for bolt on chrome isn't cheap. He wasn't trying to sell it, it got stolen, and that sucks. Hope insurance gives him the money to put together an identical bike. I hate to think what would happen if my bike got damaged/stolen. I'm pretty sure insurance would pay me by the pound for it. It's not pretty, to most it wouldn't be worth 500 bucks. I've got countless hours in working on it, not that much money as far as bikes go, but i'm sure i've got more in it that i would get if it was stolen. I've got over twice as much money in piston rings alone than i paid for the bike originally.

If you didn't hear their hooves clomping and feel a wind gust off of them they weren't that close. I about hit one one night and all i ever saw was his ass about 1 foot off my front wheel. No time to do anything, Jumped out of some weeds and over a guard rail and landed right in front of me. I was doing about 55-60 before that valley, and thought to myself that i better slow down since there is always deer down there. I was only doing 30 at the time, speed limit 45. Had i been doing the speed limit i would have hit it.
