No not really comparable, but without telling you what I make it wasn't a big pay cut. Of course I feel like I was almost maxed out for what most techs make so it depends where you're at.

I have 11 ASE certs they're good for 5 years, they start expiring again for me in 2017. My GM training continually updates every year so it's one of those things that gets outdated over time, not really expires. If I should decide to get back into a dealership at some point I'm sure it's not going to be much of a hurdle.

11th ave there butternuts They have call centers at both locations. I know it'll be a switch, I was in a call center 10 years ago as a debt collector. That job sucked for obvious reasons and I went back to wrenching. This won't be that bad so I'm just going to give it my best and try to make it work out.

I thought since I had shared my thoughts lately, I would share what I decided to do. I have accepted a job at Jeg's to get off my feet and work in their call center. This may shock some of you, but to stay involved in cars there weren't many options. I can use the knowledge I have and rest my fucked up back. Hopefully after a few months of low physical stress I'll feel better and can start exercising. Getting away from flat rate with an hourly job will be nice too. After next week I will no longer be working on cars professionally, and I have mixed feelings about this. I workes hard to get certs, and get to be decent at this job. However it's ruining the rest of my life. Maybe this summer I'll actually want to play with my toys again. I'm just going to try and stay positive and roll with it.

Personally I think it would be better to organise something to do after C&C. Unless some thing is really convenient for me I won't go out of my way just to cruise over to C&C late. Just my 2 cents, that wouldn't be for me.

I'm glad you're enjoying the S10, it deserved some more use before it was put out to pasture. I think you could daily any of those cars, especially with snow tires. Just not how I want to do it. I guess out of those cars I see the best arguement being for the CTS-V. Just inspect those good, diff bushings, engine mounts, and recalls all need to be good. I also want to say that I don't think a GTO or G8 rattle anymore then any other car that's ragged out. I've ridden in several 4th gen f-bodys, and a lot of them rattle, my car has been babbied and it doesn't. The same can be said for many member's cars. Just drive more then one of anything you buy so you can tell how it's been treated.

I am not a fan of daily driving any of those. You saw my Impala and here's why I went with that, obviously I'm a big fan of Chevy, it's easy to drive everyday, and it's not a slouch. Being FWD it's all weather nive, having a 300hp V6 makes it get out of it's own way, and it's not something cool enough for me to want to keep in a garage. I considered all the cars you mentioned, but the biggest reason for not buying one is that I love my cars and don't need the stress of tearing up something cool. It's also hard to know how something 10 years old has been taken care of, and for those cars the price for a 10 year old car is high for me. You can plan on working on any of those much more then a 2-3 year old car to keep it really nice. The Holden derived cars are very cool, but not as easy to keep as nice when they have very specific parts and trim parts will not be easy. In the end you have to do whatever makes you happy, and I drove a beater so my toys could sit but I'm finally at a point where I can have a nicer daily. If your toy and daily have to be the same thing you'll have to decide what compromises you can live with.

I had the same moment of crazy recently, glad you'll keep enjoying it.

Last I heard the MSD didn't have a good answer for a cable bracket since most LS engine are drive by wire other then an f-body. I'd be more interested if there was more information out there, it just hasn't been around long enough for me. I like letting everybody else figure out the quirks and issues before I buy one.

Nice to know it picked up some power over a LS6 for you, but for my Vette getting autocrossed I'm sure it'll heatsoak.

The Fast 78 hasn't been around in quite some time, but I agree it's a great alternative. The BBK is just like the Weiand I have, a stupid aluminum heat sink. I just keep toying around with the thought of building another engine and debate about intakes, besides mg Corvette could use something comparable to an LS6.

Yeah Cruzes and that little turbo 1.4 are pretty common shit anymore.

I buy just about everything online because I don't like explaining to people what I'm doing. Typically I loom at the manufacturer's website if possible to do research and then search the part number for the best deal, a lot of times on e-bay.

Too bad it won't be on par with it's competition. Just a sloppy, slow turd without a trunk lid. I have driven many Cruzes, and none of them have made me even think seriously about buying one.

Are you talking about the one Dorman makes? The reviews I read about that made it sound like it was pretty rough compared to a GM part. Have you seen one personally? I'd like to talk to someone who has seen it firsthand.

Of the few times I've gone to the track in the last couple years this guy pulls up beside me at a test and tune. The difference between my 13 second Corvette and whatever he ran that day was awesome.

Yes I did. It was actually interesting driving it in autocross, an Ariel Atom must feel similar. Being open and just about able to touch the cones and all. Obviously you can get away with a lot more stuff with the clubs then the SCCA, but my biggest like about the clubs is number of runs and lack of overly competitive people.

You have to remember that fuel is getting pulled out of the carb and turning into a vapor fairly quickly. I think you may be picturing raw fuel, but raw fuel doesn't burn only the vapor. Now while a carb doesn't do the best job atomizing fuel it's not terrible at it. The roots blower just compresses that mixture and shoves it in the engine. There is still more air then fuel so it will compress without issue.

I really appreciate all the responses, both in this thread and through messaging. I posted some of this not caring about negative comments but really didn't get any.

I bet we can find the correct wire to splice in a simple switch, I doubt you need anything special.

Look buddy, I know you have a wife and kid. It's what you wanted, I respect that. My daughter is 14 so her interest in hanging out with her parents is nothing like it was a few years ago, so enjoy your time with yours. There hasn't been much going on regularly except Cars and Coffee, so it's not like there is much of the Friday Saturday night stuff going anymore. I like the excersise ideas, not sure how I want to get started, and here's a peek into why my mind is so fucked up, I don't want to go by myself but I don't like meeting or being around new people. I don't know why I started this thread, now I feel worse. Up hill battle, I know how easy it is for some people to kill themselves. No I'm not going to.
