  1. Call me paranoid but access to my house or garage will never be done in this manner. Of course I’m the same guy who turns off the garage door breaker unless I take a car out.
  2. Very interesting. Supposed to be going to Vegas for C8 training within the next few months so hopefully I’ll get up to speed.
  3. On a different note, this is hilarious. I’m sure it’s bullshit but hilarious. https://theluggnutt.com/2019/07/21/commentary-i-am-truly-sorry-the-new-corvette-does-not-appeal-to-our-core-demographic-which-will-all-be-dead-soon/
  4. You may be right. GM does a good job of keeping us techs in the dark about exactly how it works. So much goes on behind the scenes that I have no access to. I know the vehicles I mentioned are different in terms of scanning and programming but I have not heard of CAN-FN. What is that? Fiber network? I know the C8 will be able to update over the air without the need to bring it in to a dealer so... Anyway looking forward to learning more about this stuff as training becomes available soon.
  5. Most definitely. Rumor is with the newer software GM is rolling out for us techs to use it’ll just scan the car regardless and keep records. Not sure how it’ll all work because my dealership hasn’t been changed over to it yet, but the “technician environment” as they call it will be quite a bit different.
  6. Pretty sure Global B architecture started on the 2019 ZR1 and the 2019 Silverados. HPTuners cracked the ZR1 but you have to send them the ECM for them to mod it before it can be tuned, similar to the L5P Duramax. Pretty expensive nowadays to tune new cars, I think it’s $2500 just to have them send you a “tunable” ECM, then add in credits and interface.
  7. Supposedly $55800 is base price, at least that’s the rumor with dealers. If that’s the case I bet alot get ordered for base money, aka sub $60k. They’ll move them at that price too, especially first year when there won’t be much more then color options or Z51.
  8. Manual Bros be triggered. So then don’t buy it and demand they build a manual. Good luck. I’m sure GM will sell plenty. I happily own 2 manual cars. However they are from an era when the automatics really sucked. The modern trans is fun to drive, besides we are talking about a car getting a dual clutch anyway.
  9. Really looking forward to the training for these, I want to see the inner workings. Can’t wait to drive one. Not sure I’d buy one but I do like it. Those of you bitching about 3 pedals know you’re just in the minority at this point right? I like my manuals too, but there’s no sense in whining about it.
  10. You know those flywheel bolts are tty? Many people reuse them, just sayin.
  11. Not sure what I’m missing here. I guess I’d jump power to the tan and green wires and see if the lights work. It looks right from the pictures, check your fuses in case you poped one.
  12. I have nothing to add other then hahaha! A starter that spins the engine backwards?!? That’s a new one lol.
  13. I’m thinking about coming early for roll racing, but I want to fertilize my yard so I don’t know.
  14. +2 I love S10s and that looks great
  15. That makes more sense. Looks just like an F-body bracket but I haven’t seen a short one like that.
  16. So that’s an F-body alternator with Corvette spacing? Are you running power steering?
  17. Prep work duh! It’s like the many people that ask for new wiper blades. They don’t really need them, just a proper cleaning. These are the same people back in a week complaining.
  18. Any of you ever watch this YouTube Tool Bear? It’s an interesting channel and a big fan of HF, plus annoys my wife so I watch it. Check the latest out 15% off anything.
  19. I have a HBF low pro jack at home and it works great, it's not a Dayton but it is steel, I think Pittspurgh. I've never been a big fan of aluminum jacks because most I've used seem a little unstable. The old Craftsman I have has been great too, but I don't think I'd buy Craftsman anything at this point. I've heard great things about the Dayton brand HBF sells, that store is getting hard to beat. So unless you want to get a NAPA jack like we have at work (good jack, prolly on the pricier side), just go to HBF.
  20. That is specifically the one I had in mind.
  21. I think you have to ask yourself why it is you want to learn to tune. If you just want to get an understanding of it then just get yourself a book. Anything by Greg Banish is a good read. If you want to make money from it and learn it to the point of it being a business then look into the couple schools out there, like the Tuning School. Here’s where I’m going to sound a little hypocritical, if you plan on tuning your own car then just save your money and pay a competent tuner. While I feel very confident in tuning gen 3 GM stuff and tweaking most cars, I would not consider myself a tuner. I started down the learning to tune just because my stubborn ass didn’t want to pay someone to do it. After years of learning, many books, and learning many lessons to hard way by breaking shit, I wish I’d have just paid to have it done correctly and left it alone. At this point I am glad I understand it as being a technician it really helps me to understand how everything works, but it was a really expensive and frustrating road. In short, is $500 worth it? No. What I suggest is reading a book. Do you think you’ll get a good return on this investment?
  22. Process for any shift kit is basically the same, change some springs, check balls, modify some fluid passages. A 4L60 is a totally different trans then a 80, so the process will only be similar, but instructions are really good with most of these kits.
  23. Funny thing, the first thing I ever broke in my Camaro was the flexplate. Sounds like it may have been tuned a little aggressive, but GM's flexplates from this era suck anyway.
  24. Thanks Clay. On a serious note I can give you an “electronic shift kit” if you’d like.
