So I’m kind of a packrat and have been hanging on to alot of stock parts or decent stuff from work, but I’m getting tired of tripping over this shit. There is various stuff I’ll gladly give away to someone who will use it. Here’s a few things I’d like a couple dollars for. SOLD-Aluminum driveshaft out of an LS1 6speed f-body. You can find these for over $100 everywhere, CR price $50, I also have 2 steel ones you can have. SOLD-The stock C5 brakes off my 1997 Corvette, calipers, hoses, pads, rotors, all of it is perfectly useable when cleaned up. Prices are all over the place, I don’t care $50. Blown up LS1 out of my Corvette, has hole in block and 2 broken rods, however right now it has the batwing oil pan on it (worth some money) and the C5 mount brackets. Look up what the oil pan and mounts cost, I only want $200 for the whole mess. Stock 97 Corvette LS1 intake manifold with 2001 fuel rail (returnless) and stock injectors, CR price $100.-SOLD Used Monster stage 2 single disk clutch, pressure plate, and flywheel. Probably half the life left in it or better, I upgraded with new engine before I overpowered this one. CR price $100 Don’t bother me kicking tires, just bring cash and carry, I’m not waiting around, I’m not holding stuff and going out of my way for a few dollars. There are lots of other things laying around I’ll give away if you’ll just come buy something. I watch this all the time so ask your questions, I may have some small shit you might need so ask. If it’s LS1 related I might just have it in one of many boxes. TCI streetfighter 3000 stall converter, been sitting around for years but worked when pulled, fit my Camaro when it was an auto, CR price FREE!!! C5 radiator and fans, stock stuff that was trimmed to fit supercharger, works fine. CR price FREE!! Need an old Miata battery? Been sitting for a few years may work, may not, FREE!! I have some Powerstop Evolution Sport brake pads and rotors, part#z23-1521, part number ripped off rotors, parts are new, someone gave them to me, I think they fit some Honda, CR price....you guessed it FREE!! I’m sure there’s other things, but come quick before I get mad and throw this shit away. Just don’t ask me to go out of my way to give it to you, you will simply be ignored.

Wife says I have to keep them. I don’t want to argue with her.

I was tempted to go down this morning but cleaned up my filthy Corvette so it can sit in the garage while it rains later. :dumb:
-
You guys can do whatever you want, this idiot can waste a bunch of money putting a rotary in a Corvette (a combination he admits doesn’t work well), I’ll just stick with nice toys I can play with as opposed to some troublesome janky shit.
-
GHEY! I wouldn't volunteer to get AIDS, but apparently some people are just stupid.
-
Duh. I’m not that dumb Gerg. A lot of core charges are $10-20, or I typically buy new when I can and those typically don’t have core charges anyway.
-
Core charge lol. They’re lucky if I give them the actual correct parts if I even bother in the first place. Stupid parts stores.
-
Haha, I suppose that shit will take a little time to clear out of his system since he was on it awhile. You’d know better then me, but if you want to ask him about something he has a low tolerance for, it’s my driving lol.

A conscious Anthony, is a fucking no nonsense Anthony. This is one of the main reasons we’re friends. I could only hope that myself in this situation would be the same way. Look forward to seeing him.
-
Being both a Camaro and Corvette guy, it reminds me of having a Miata, I hated the stereotypical owners. So fucking lame. I like to clean mine, but I enjoy getting them dirty too because it means I’m actually having fun with them.
-
Yes that Scott Cook. He’s been trying to work with Dyno Brian on this stuff lately.

I hope “doing the rear” just means you bought new leaf springs, shackles, bolts, u-bolts, and you’re just going to remove it with a sawzall. And I thought I was sweating all weekend building an engine, I’m sure you took a beating yourself. Sure felt more like summer then spring.
-
Now that sounds like him.

Either you enjoy building stuff, or you enjoy what you get to do with it when you get it done. For me personally I love cars, but I fix them and work on them everyday. Kind of a big contradiction to that part of it being fun anymore. However I still really enjoy a good drive, or race, and those things I don't get to do everyday. Those aspects of it remain fun. I do get some enjoyment out of helping other get their projects finished, but even that feels like a job most of the time. It's tough, I spent all weekend putting an engine in my Corvette. I really didn't want to, but I will have fun driving it. My Camaro was great fun years ago, and I've just held onto it. Kind of feel like maybe we're in the same boat car wise when I think about that. If I'd find ways to go out and use it I'd love it a lot more. I built that car when most of my activities with it were illegal, and now that I try to keep myself out of trouble it doesn't do much. oh well, random thoughts. Decide what part makes you happy and do more of it. If it's the journey of a project and then selling it to do it again, or the joy in playing with it at the end. Honestly just sounds like you're bored. I need a new hobby other then cars too.

You know when I come across GM’s riveted on ball joints, a chisel bit in my air hammer knocks the heads right off, then switching to a punch bit I drive them out. Takes all of 5-10 minutes. Of course if you have a weak air hammer you’ll be there all day. I have pickle forks for my air hammer too and have never had ball joints I can’t get apart. Cheap tools and weak air supplies won’t get you anywhere in these situations. Have fun beating on it.

I just saw some videos recently of how Amazon was starting to use old malls as fulfillment centers. I still enjoy walking through the mall with my wife and hate to see them close, but this is much better then them sitting empty and such a fitting use for them.

Pretty sure that guy is done or about done, Brian said he was getting out of his lease because he’s busy doing something else.
-
It honestly surprises me the stock engines gave up that easily, always seemed fairly durable, I guess that’s not the case when tracked hard. Interesting swap, not sure why I like it, but it’s cool. I even like the vinyl work, I lol’d.

Things expand and seal up better when hot, certainly could be rings. Hard to say without tearing it down at this point. You’ve proven a mechanical issue with cylinder 1, unless you just want to put an engine in it all you can do is pop the piston out and look.
-
I’m sure you’re still typing an update, but like I said before: look forwrd to seeing it come together. I’ll be happy to lend advice when I can.
-
Since it’s not going to be a day having fun with cars, I really didn’t want a day working on them. Just going to enjoy my day off around the house.

I just so happen to have a bunch of Corvette accessories I could part with for a few bucks. Stock P/S pump, brackets, stock balancer (looks good and I already have a nice one for my supercharger), ect. Don’t really want to give up my spare alternator, but I’ll never use most of this stuff if you’re interested. I don’t suspect it’s worth much anyway.

Open source? Maybe on older stuff, newer GM (like Global B) it isn’t going to happen. There are a few things out there already but lacks the abilities of HPTuners software. I personally don’t mind spending a few bucks because TunerCats and LS1edit suck. EFILive isn’t bad on the older stuff but they’ve fallen behind on newer stuff, and I’ve run into situations where it wouldn’t tune something they said it would. I used to love EFILive, and their tuning software is easy to navigate, but the scanner sucks, support is lame, and doesn’t work nearly as well as HPTuners when you get into multiple vehicle platforms. HPTuners is one of a few tuning new L5P Duramaxes, and the only one to break the 2019 ZR1 so far. They stay on top of it, don’t think you’ll see them go away any time soon. Open source or simpler aftermarket options will hurt their business but as for GM tuning they’ll be the one to survive.

Yeah that should be a 411 PCM. Granted I’ve been playing with this stuff a long time and already have HPTuners and EFILive so maybe I’m biased, but if you’ve already got a stock harness and PCM you won’t have really any cost in it, just time. It’s hard to get beyond the limits of the stock computer anyway.
