  1. PB- I’m confident that you could do all this yourself. It’s especially easy if you’re using a 411 PCM. I can always walk you through anything that gets out of your experience level and help you get a base tune in it.
  2. Well obviously it shouldn’t just be overwritten by a dealership, but having it dyno tuned with HPTuners is still an option.

Thanks for the update Tina, I know how rough it is. When my daughter was in the hospital for over a month it sucked, it’s not something I would wish upon anyone. We’ll keep praying and hoping for more progress, hang in there.

Yeah I’ve been wondering too. Nice to follow along with this rather then start bothering them directly.
  5. I’m at Dan Tobin Chevy. I worked at Dave Gill when they were a Callaway dealer (don’t think they are anymore) and I remember replacing an ECM once and it being a big ordeal, getting a new one, learning it to the car, taking it back out and sending it to Callaway. Never seen an engine replaced in one so I’m not sure how it would go. Coincidentally the new service manager at Coughlin Pataskala is my old service manager from Dave Gill during that time, so he may be the best option if you got into a situation like that.
  6. Yes it would be a change in calibration and that’s all it takes. GM only requires checking the calibration files in the event of total assembly replacement ie have the replace engine assembly or transmission assembly. So unless you get some tech or service manager that suspects abuse and checks, it will likely never come up but that’s the risk. Simply have a faulty injector or something and it will be a non-issue. A Callaway vehicle would be an interesting grey area, I realize they have a warranty but it’s not a GM calibration it would be a Callaway calibration. May be hard to handle a warranty claim like an engine outside of a Callaway dealership.

I’ve never cared much for bourbon either. Jameson has been my go to whiskey for years. I also enjoy some of the Crown Royal lineup, their reserve is really good. Definitely interested in trying some of these and will keep them in mind the next time I’m out looking. Those of you who are obviously more into this then me, are there better ones for drinking it neat? I prefer mine neat. IMHO Jack Daniels and Jim Beam varieties aren’t horrible but most are just good for taking shots and getting drunk because I can’t stand drinking them. On another note, if you ever find yourself in or around Chicago check out Binny’s Beverage Depot, huge selection and very nice liquor store chain in the area.
  8. I love super sticky tires so I feel like my opinion will be pretty far off of yours. I start by looking at things in the 200-300 treadwear range and then decide how far I want to compromise. I’ve never had any luck with off brand mid or low end tires, and I avoid things cheaper then the Toyo, Nitto, Continentals, and Michelins I have on all my cars. Corvette, Camaro, Impala, and Silverado in that order. My toys would need Mickey Thompsons or Hoosiers to be noticeably better.
  9. Totally understandable. Fuck the refund put it towards the next one, I'm certainly not going stress about that.

Damn. Certainly thinking of him. Hope it improves quickly.
  11. Something tells me with a screen name like Alfa Turbo, he might be a little biased. That said, all cars break, unless they sit in the garage and never move they’ll break, even then they rot and break as soon as you drive them. All I have is hearsay in regards to Alfa, it’s hard to tell how much is true when they aren’t popular and have an old reputation for failure. If they want to sell a bunch of cars they need to follow the Hyundai/Kia method of stupid long warranties so people won’t worry so much about buying on.
  12. Willing to bet it fits a different Toyota.
  13. See I was picturing this as something great when I'm semi-retired, or done being a technician. Someplace to have my tools and cars were I can still tinker on my stuff. My tools aren't going to fit at home. Besides unlike a lot of guys I have 2 sets of tools. Obviously I don't have everything I have at work, but I have more at home then a lot of home mechanics.
  14. Is this the only place like this in central Ohio? Pretty cool deal, makes a lot of sense for alot of people. I’d definitely consider it.
  15. Are there still a bunch of spots left? I don’t even feel like going anymore, stupid cars are just pissing me off. Still not track ready, about ready to light this Corvette on fire.
  16. So you’re going to go buy the top level nice Sierra that’s only a few years old and then cheap out on mods? I can understand this on 10 year old stuff, but this I don’t. Best of luck.
  17. Conversion fittings and AN lines can be made to work, otherwise I’m no help.
  18. I just use gasoline and then polish it. It'll come right off.
  19. Got this news in my GM login this morning. http://www.columbusracing.com/forums/picture.php?albumid=1029&pictureid=9288
  20. Given the price of R1234yf I wouldn’t want it anyway. I doubt retrofitting to that is going to be a thing, not any time soon anyway. Convert to 134a, do a little research on how compatible the compressor is, most are fine but a couple GMs for example were not recommended at all. Not sure where to send you, that’s something I’ve never done, maybe Northend Wrench still does this stuff?
  21. Sure looks like the sport that I have on my car. No drone at all. First thing I put on the car was the Corsa axle back, had a nice tone and everything, kinda quiet when the rest was stock. Then I got headers and off road x-pipe and it got much louder. Very nice sound, no drone at all. Now it has a cam and blower I think it's perfect, you can hear it, but at cruising RPMs you can have a conversation in the car, louder at idle, screams at WOT, still no drone or crappy noises. I highly recommend.
  22. Corvette is running out of fuel, and I don’t feel like racing the Camaro, so until I get something fixed I’m out.
  23. It was my Birthday yesterday. I was off work having fun so I didn’t spend the normal amount of time wasting on my phone to see this. Thanks guys.
  24. Yeah same thing on my Vette, it’ll get plenty loud.
