btw I suck at taking pictures. I took 1 pic today. I usually just ride. I'm always rushing to get home asap so I can spend time with my wife and kids. Secondly, I can only post pics here by posting to the gallery and I doubt everybody wants to see my pics every time they visit the forum.

So next time I get pulled over I know what I'm doing. Fumble through my wallet all nervous, speak with an accent, hand the officer a couple of different cards before I hand him my license. Think it will work for me too?

I was on the fence about heading to West Virginia 250 this morning. I woke up early and decided I was going to go for it even though it was a holiday weekend. Only saw cops where I expected them to be and had an awesome ride. Took 164 to 9 to 250 all the way to Hundred. Ran 7 to New Martinsville then took 556 to 145 to 148 to 9 back to 164. Left my place at 6 and home by 3. It was an awesome ride. 450 miles round trip. Thanks @NinjaDoc for sweeping away all those cops you spotted yesterday. I'm starting to wonder if you're a cop magnet. I think every time I've rode with you I've seen a cop. Grant it nobody has been pulled over.

I seem to have difficulty turning it down lately. Might have something to do with more horsepower and torque.

Ok Doc you just made my mind up for me. I was going to run WV 250 tomorrow possibly but I was concerned about LEO. Already got 1 ticket recently, I don't need 1 on a holiday weekend.

Doc you're making this going back to work stuff really difficult. I can't believe they expect me to work when there is great riding weather.

I had ACL surgery December 18, 2014. I was back on the bike probably in March. Definitely was not able to bend my knee quite to the point where I had my toes on the peg but I had the arch of my foot resting on the peg on a 600rr. I probably took a 10 hour ride sometime in May and I also rode the epic that year for the first time. I did not get my toes on the peg until mid to late July when I went to the tale of the Dragon that year. I also got back on the quad riding motocross sometime in June. I had some setbacks so you may even recover faster than I did. I was kicked by a steer in my knee shortly after I started walking again. I also over did it a time or 2 at PT and my knee swelled up like a balloon. My advice is to try to keep the swelling out of your knee as much as you can and do your physical therapy and listen to your body if you feel like you're overdoing it stop. One of the best exercises I found that helped me recover the fastest was riding a bicycle whether that be a stationary bike or a bike on the road or what have you. I still cannot bend my knee that had surgery on it as far as I can my other knee but I can get my toes on the peg, sometimes a little discomfort. I'm doing pretty much everything that I want to outside of playing basketball not sure that I'll ever be able to do that again.

I was in your shoes a year ago in the spring. I to chose to ride the medium pace with hellmutt's group. I think that was the right call for me. I was always riding solo, so it was good to get my feet wet riding with a group before I started riding faster in a group. What I would tell you is that hellmutt pretty much sticks to what is posted as far as speed and such on the first page of this post. I would also tell you that @Hellmutt is a great guy. You will not be disappointed you chose to ride with him. As he mentioned in an earlier post if you like to ride a little bit faster stay close to the front with his group. I did ride with the medium fast group this spring and it definitely was a faster pace.

You are a brave man taking on a CBR 1000 as your first four stroke motor to work on. The first four stroke I ever worked on was just a single cylinder. I am no expert but what happens with the valves to my understanding is they wear into the head and that is why you they need re-shimmed. I know with quads what happens is the quad sucks dirt in there at times through the air filter and it grinds away on the head. Also just wear and tear from the valves beating on the head. The motor comes stock with shims in it. As far as it being a temporary fix I believe it depends on how far they are off. If you're just talking a couple thousandths probably not a big deal, reshim it. If it's to the point where the shim you are using is down to next to nothing compared to what the original shim was more than likely that valve has beat the snot out of the head and needs redone. There are definitely better mechanics than me on this forum so listen to them over me for sure. This is just my elementary understanding of it all.

So last night my wife and I were watching a show and they were talking about 0-60 times. So I got curious and wanted to know the time for my 06 1000rr. I Looked it up, and on the website I found my info on they said it was 2.9 sec. Here's the kicker though. The 01 F4i was the same time. So maybe @TimTheAzn was right my F4i was probably faster than my 600rr. 600rr was 3.4 sec.

Nice

The F4i definitely had more on the lower end compared to 600rr. Never drag raced any of the bikes or tracked them. All just my own feeling. Who knows maybe I was fastest on the F4i.

I had a 01 F4i that I sold around 30,000 miles because I got a 05 600rr. I just sold the 600rr this summer with 34,000 and picked up a 1000rr. Biggest difference between F4i and 600rr was the knee crunch. Not sure there is much difference in seat height. I did feel the 600rr was quicker and handled better. To me it's more of the same with the 1000rr. Handles better and even faster.

That makes sense in the what did you do to your bike today. ?

I appreciate the offer but I'm gonna hold off at this point. Thanks though.
