  1. I'm taking a personal tomorrow to get out and ride while we still have some good weather. All this talk about 555 has peaked my interest and i have included it in my route. 555 was one of the first twisties I rode when I got back into motorcycling. I remember I learned a lot that day. It will be interesting to revisit.

You're going to the gap with a bunch of guys here correct? I'm sure you will be riding plenty of twisties. I've only been to the gap twice, but each time I feel I've come back a better rider. Ride your own ride and get comfortable. My guess is you will come back a better rider. You'll come back and ride roads you used to think were a challenge and be bored.

Man CB sorry to hear about your low side. Glad you are okay and that your gear did its job.

I kicked a Boy Scout troop out just so I could get the photo. I kind of felt bad about doing it so I did ask politely.

255 had signs posted at 800 and 7 with nothing on them yet. It looks like they're are prepping to pave a lot of patching. I saw the same signs on 556. On 556 the signs said the road will be closed 9-26 until a date in October I did not catch(sorry I was going to miss my window to pass a truck). 536 has about 75% new pavement complete. It is strange there are like 3 one lane sections with traffic lights that need some heavy work. I would have thought they would have fixed these areas and then paved everything all at once. Pavement is grooved for a small distance off of 7. In general the pavement gets better and better the closer you get to 78.

    Had a great day 550 miles in 11hrs. My favorites were 377, 676, 26, and 260.

Thanks Jacob. Just got all my crap together and packed in my tail bag. Going to be a great day.

I rode 255 earlier this summer. It was not terrible then, but a repave would be nice.
  9. I know it's short notice, but I wasn't sure I was going to be able to do it. Still fighting a cold, but I should be good. My plan is med-fast pace, but if I'm not feeling it, may be medium. I'll see how it goes. Plan to leave my place around 6AM, puts me in Lisbon around 7AM, and New Concord around 9ish. Plan to hit Subway for lunch in Marietta for about half hour. Return trip is still up in the air, but my plans were 26,260,800,255, and possibly 536 if its actually repaved and maybe some other great twisties off the river. I know most of you use google maps, but this is my mapquest link to Marietta. http://mapq.st/2ddYlaw Hope the link works. Let me know if anyone is interested. We can discuss meet time and place. I've never lead a ride, but have rode with quite a few of you and my plan is ride your own ride.
  10. Hopefully I should be good then. Thanks for the heads up.
  11. Where is it closed? I was looking to take 83 from New Concord to Bristol Saturday.
  12. Motociclista I read your blog. It was really well written. As a math teacher I'm always in awe of those that can write. I hope to hit 100k on bike some day. Congrats on the milestone.
  13. Congrats Jacob. Take it you sold the cbr quick. Got any pictures?
  14. Danimal you are a machine. I was feeling like I was about to accomplish something by riding 10,000 miles between the 2 bikes I've owned this year. I guess not since you have put 13,000 on 1 that you've only owned 6 months and that doesn't even include what you've put on the SV in that time.
  15. I'm hurt Doc. I was just saying I miss riding with you. Should I have Casper talk to you about your shooting best be hugs?
  16. Is it summer break yet? This working 180 days out of the year is rough when it rains on the weekends.
  17. I used to really enjoy 26. I ran across it a month or so ago however and they were chip and sealing it with lots of loose gravel. Hopefully all the loose gravel will be knocked off for the epic next year. I avoided it the last time I was down in Marietta, it may already be decent.
  18. I definitely have issues. My wife makes fun of me and my virtual friends as she calls it. I don't always post a ton but I definitely refresh and read all the time.
  19. My wife stopped riding as soon as she got pregnant. She sold her bike almost immediately. Made me sell mine when the second was born. She has never really ridden since. The couple of times I have had her out since she okayed me to get a bike again she is deathly afraid. It does not matter if she is driving or riding as a passenger she constantly thinks the worse. Kind of sucks, she used be willing to crank up to triple digits right along with me on her cbr. Now she's afraid to pull out of the driveway on a bike. Not sure I would encourage riding pregnant but as 2tall stated my kids love to ride with me and I take them any chance I can when mom is not around to shut the fun down. Wish I could turn the mom switch off at times for my wife.
  20. Doc is correct on the heat shield. He saw 1st hand what happened to my lowers. They got cooked. I just put the stock lowers back on and all is well. I was not thinking I shielded everything on the uppers just like the stock was shielded but I did not see any shielding on the lowers. Common sense should have told me to protect the lowers since the header is right there. Oops.
  21. I personally have ordered 3 different kits on eBay. All 3 from different sellers from China. They all have turned out great. Sure each of them had some minor imperfections but for $354 I will not complain. 2 of the kits went on bikes I flipped. When I was finished the bikes looked like they were OEM. It does take some patience and finnangling fitting the fairings. The final kit was for a 1000rr I purchased for myself. I think it looks awesome. This was OEM here is the eBay fairings note: For Honda you don't have to worry about color match with tank since it has a plastic cowl over it. All 3 of my kits have been for a Honda. The color match on the tank would be my biggest concern for a gsxr. Fairingdeal was 1 of the companies I dealt with on eBay and they seemed the best with communication and you could contact them about color match.
