  1. You should take the boat out some day this week...usually better for a first time boat owner to try boating during the week when it is less busy, especially at the boat ramp when you are trying to learn the trailer. Sadly, my trailer broke yesterday. One of the support beams broke in the center; going to have to finish wiring the electric to Tim's new TIG welder and fix it this week.
  2. Saw it last evening when coming home...you need to get a cover for it! You gotta invite me over to take a look at the new toy. We'll probably be taking mine out this afternoon; you 2 are welcome to come along if you aren't busy.
  3. We just did carpeting in our house (only bedrooms, loft, small hall, and office have carpet). Rite Rug did the whole house install for $15, including stairs. They did a big buy a couple months ago, and we were able to get carpet + pad for $1.12 a sq/ft. Had to get 1455 sq/ft of carpeting, so every penny really adds up. The carpet looks way better than we thought it would, and matches the house well. Honestly, this will likely be your cheapest route (we checked small/private places...they just don't have the buying power a large chain has).

God forbid a struggling car company trying new things to sell cars in a difficult market. I can't imagine why they would do that. What they should really do is the same things they did in the 60's. It worked then, and since nothing has changed since, it will work now just as well. It's not like anyone uses the internet - what a stupid invention.
  5. We already have a formal dining room and table for it. But we need to get a table for the large breakfast area next to the kitchen. Something modern and simple. It needs to sit high, as this is also a high traffic area when entertaining and a great place to set drinks. We also need end tables, 2 of them. A dark wood would work great, or something similar to our coffee table (metal w/ tile inserts). Whatever it is must be in good condition, I don't want anything that looks like it belongs in a campus house, or needs any sort of restoration. Looking to buy ASAP; haven't seen much on CL. Will be looking at stores today.
  6. +2. And I have pretty much everything for the new build except time to do it. House comes before the toy (well, other than the boat, since I use it so much).
  7. They look worse than the stockers. They look cheap.
  8. Shawn, you obviously don't drink. Drinking > non-drinking. But my question is, if you passed the field sobriety check, why would you have been urine tested? That has to be done at the station (and has to be within 2 hours of being stopped, otherwise the evidence is not submittable in court). Field breath tests in Ohio can't be used in court, and I don't think many officers even carry field units because of it. Hell, I had CPD pull me over on a memorial day a couple years ago in the Arena District. I was stuck in an intersection because a cab cut us off to pick someone up, and the light turned red. Pulls me over down the street. I had 2 tall ones a BW3's earlier that evening, and down there had probably 3-5 beers and several $1 shots at Gasworks. Took the test and he let me go. I was sweating bullets, and I have been more careful since. If you do have a couple of drinks and drive (I'm not advocating drunk driving), always be very aware of following all rules of the road. Cruise control is your friend, and watch how you are driving in your own lane. Drive like there is a cop watching you the whole time.
  9. That looks pretty sweet. Power wise, that's about as big as I'd ever want to go on an Alpha 1 (my 4-banger has the same outdrive), but if it is still in good working condition, then I wouldn't be too concerned. The interior doesn't look super 80's which is a plus.
  10. We just moved up here a couple weeks ago. And from the water I saw last night, I would have just went tubing there last night. If I were going wakeboarding, I'd go to O'Shannasy - much flatter water. And I wouldn't say I am any sort of expert at wakeboarding. I can do a couple of surface tricks and get a little air, but I haven't been boarding that long. I used to slalom ski a lot, and moved over to wakeboarding.
  11. My wife wants to get her highlights done again. She just can't find anyone good. She has been to Kenneth's a number of times, and honestly, she can get a better hair trim at Great Clips. They usually make her hair crooked, do the layering wrong, and f'ed her hair up really bad once right before we met. Their coloring hasn't been stellar by any means either. I can't believe she went back so many times, but I think I convinced her to not go anymore. She has tried Charles Penzone, but wasn't impressed with their work either. Can anyone ask their women who they recommend...I promissed my wife I would do a little research for her. We live just north of Powell, but anywhere within a reasonable drive will work. Cost isn't the factor (obviously from being a Kenneth's customer, those f'ers are con artists!). Quality is a MAJOR factor; she is specific on what she wants, and expects to get it. They all want to make her a blonde, and no matter how much she says no, they try to do it anyway. If there is anyone great to recommend, please let me know. She is a friendly and easy to deal with customer, but wants someone who will not screw up the job!
  12. http://www.airsourceohio.com/ They just did my house. Very professional. A/C didn't work, came out on a Sunday a couple hours after I called (we just moved in). Gave me the whole scoop on what was wrong (contamination in the line), what they needs to replace and why (pretty much everything), and even went out of their way to get a scratch and dent model heat pump for us to save some money...and there isn't a scratch or dent on the thing I could see, lol. Didn't even charge me for the initial visit, called when they said they would, and had me all fixed up the next day...that's a new coil in the furnace, new lines, new heat pump with base, converting from Freon to Puron. It was a lot of materials and expense (Lennox Furnace = very price coil) + LARGE Carrier heat pump + lines and materials/labor for $3200. All with a 5 year warranty. I was happy from beginning to end with them. Honest, friendly, and made sure our old heat pump was f'ed before selling us on anything new. Very personable yet didn't drag ass either. Just let him know the guy with the decent sized house North of Powell he did all the work on June 22nd sent you...hell, he may remember my name.
  13. A lot of people love owning a boat. People who don't love owning a boat: - Buy one with problems, and are typically the people that can't work on stuff themselves. - Buy a boat, and rarely use it. A number of those people buy one but are too far from any source of water - Sean is my neighbor, and we are ~3 minutes from the O'Shaughnassy (always spell it wrong) boat ramp, and about 12 minutes from Alum Creek Marina. Boating is easy for us. People that don't have time to boat, or make excuses not to boat are others that are not happy boat owners. Our condo was 3 minutes from the Griggs boat ramp. My Reynoldsburg house was the biggest drive, but I still enjoyed it even at 30 minutes to an hour of driving for the places I went...I am a bit more dedicated than some, I will admit. - Those who won't boat unless it is a full boat. All of our friends are invited any time we go, but we are going regardless of whether you come or not, and we probably aren't going to wait around for you. We will meet you at the dock though. - Those who just can't figure out the in/out procedure. If it takes you more than a minute to get the boat off the trailer once you got it in the water, you are doing something wrong. Same goes for once the trailer is in the water and the driver puts the boat on it, your better be off in less than a minute as well. Those frustrated at the ramps hate boating. Those of us that have it down on boat prep at the house, at the ramp, in/out, and cleanup love boating because we keep the BS to a minimum. You want to enjoy boating, not dealing with all the stuff around it. My wife and I love boating. I replaced the belt I snapped last Friday after work today (had trouble finding one...it lasted 20 years, so I can't complain, lol). Swapped it out, hooked up the boat to the Avalanche, and my wife and I cruised Alum Creek this evening for a couple of hours. Had a nice bottle of wine out there and enjoyed ourselves. No hassle, no BS, just boating. Sean, if there are any boats you are serious about, I will go take a look with you. We really should put anything you are set on buying in the water before making a purchase. My Avalanche is all set up for towing, and we can grab the plate off of my trailer on anything you want to look at.
  14. Total BS...I have owned mine since 2000, and love owning a boat. Can't wait until I can upgrade.
  15. No. I own a N/A 4-banger, making 140HP. Yes, it will pull my 215lb ass slalom skiing, and easily pulls me wakeboarding, or two tubes - you still want a V8. In the end, every time you get in, you'll enjoy the boat, but have V8 envy. My only solace is my boat does do very well on fuel. I'm sure a carbed 350 in my boat with the correct prop ran at the same level as my 4 banger would achieve fuel results not much worse than what my 4-banger gets, as I have to run the 4-banger a lot harder (of course you'd have to be throttle conscience with the V8 boat in that situation). I also had to sacrifice 4 MPH on my top end in order to get the pull I really needed down below; and that sacrifice also hurts normal crusing speed a bit too. It's always a balance with a prop. We spoke about this last night, but as I said go for a 350 if possible. Ford motors in boats aren't as common, and when it comes to boat parts (especially older boats), you want stuff to be as common and standard as possible. Don't get an outboard, as for what you want, it will just make you unhappy. Avoid OMC outdrives; not as good as the Mercrusier drivers, and parts will be harder to find. Not that I'd back out of a good deal because of an OMC drive. Make sure there is no water in the outdrive (if it is milky white, that's bad). Old school V8 jet-boats are niffty, but very thirsty, and IMO are a niche market boat. A true inboard boat would be sweet, but will cost you a little more. That said, re-sale will be excellent on one, as true ski-nuts want a full inboard, and a lot of people throw towers on them to make a semi-wakeboard boat they can actually afford (as we talked about yesterday, a true wakeboard boat is a V-drive inboard w/ a tower and some sort of wake altering device, normally balast tanks, wedge, etc. and are very expensive). Newer Jet-Boats (like a Sea-Doo, Yamaha, etc.) can be very affordable, but the ones in the size you want go up in price a lot more, and they seem to beat on you more than a similar-sized prop boat. Motors seem to be less reliable on these as well.
  16. Depending on your salary requirements, WOW is still hiring...if selected, you would probably interview with me.
  17. ...were awesome. Took the boat out, and we anchored at a really good spot. The lake was uber choppy (imagine that) until dark, but was nice and calm after that. The fireworks were far more impressive than we imagined they would have been, and was nice chilling in the boat with a cooler of beer. Too bad the accessory belt snapped on the boat (it was an OLD belt, I was meaning to replace that), so we had to nurse her back to the boat ramp, where the typical retards can't get a boat on/off a trailor. Overall, very worthwhile and I am sure we will do it again next year. I don't know if it is worth while watching on land, but why go to a lake and sit on the shore to watch?
  18. I have a guy at work that takes his bike to go riding every weekend; he has a truck and still uses the hitch-mounted bike rack. It's the best way to go.
  19. Don't know why I forgot to check Monoprice, since I've bought a bunch of stuff from there before. They easily had the best prices of all listed above. Got everything I needed and a couple of extras.
  20. I'm now moved in enough to my new place that I need to wallfish my speaker wires for my living room. I've never had to buy the wall plates before for it, and boy are they expensive for what they are. I need them CHEAP. I need: 1 - 8 terminal plate 2 - 2 terminal plates 1 - 4 terminal plates I'm doing a 7.1 surround, but the way I am doing the rears I can use the same plate, hence the 4 terminal plate. The fronts won't need wallplates, as I can hide the wires without it. Direct links would be appreciated.
  21. Good luck trying to find a pet-friendly site for a Saturday 4th of July. Most will have been booked for a while.
  22. Well, I found a 05 Husqvarna w/ a 54" deck on Craig's List and bought it yesterday; 05 for $800. Seems like a decent deal to me; it's nothing fancy, but should get the job done. I will probably want to upgrade in a year or two, but it will get my by until then, and I'll probably break even selling it.
  23. I haven't played with any new Eclipse head units, but the sound quality off their older stuff is just awesome. I do have an Eclipse Class D amp running the subs in my Avalanche, and Eclipse speakers in my boat - I would recommend Eclipse stuff to anyone.
