  1. Not really an SBC guy, but I'd say simply a mild turbo specific cam or mediocre N/A or nitrous cam. You're right on keeping the overlap down. If my car didn't already make good power, I'd be swapping in a cam with less overlap. Wide lobe separation is good, especially on low compression engines. Ditch those heads ASAP. All hype (though boost helps...:gabe:). Make sure you don't overtax whatever valve springs are on it. Maybe watch the valve guide clearance too. Or toss them in the corner...
  2. What Chad is saying is that those cars were available in TBI and TPI (both, not just TPI). In fact I'd guess there are more Throttle Body Injection cars than Tuned Port.
  3. Clearly written by his publicist. He has no time for punctuation and grammar. :gabe:
  4. Likely. I can't count how many people bought a Mallory 4309 regulator from me to use their stock fuel pump with a carb in the late 90's into the 00's (against MY better judgement). Failboat.gif.
  5. I verified today that a loan is no longer an option since I terminated my employment and the de facto repayment is installments from your paycheck. Paycheck. :dumb: I now only have the option to move all of the assets, minus the profit sharing contributions, all at once. So it's on it's way to an IRA. I'll come back in 4.5 years and get the profit sharing too.
  6. See. Euro-Jeep is much nicer and way better tech than America-Fuck-Yeah-Jeep, but I can't help but be scared of it's deeply computer dependant functions and love for hipster necklaces. Not to mention hackey sack. Ewww.
  7. I'm really happy for Rover and Ima let you finish, but sometimes complicated technology isn't the best, or most reliable answer. - Beyonce These have very low tech but really work well, without the limitations or reliability/durability issues that a heavily technology dependant solution can bring into the mix. EDIT: Do want cactus mode on the Jeep though.
  8. See Articulation and it's effects on traction. IFS LOL. Love the Rover and H1 approach. It works well, but the right new tech on old school tech really shines.
  9. True story. I was mostly joking. I'll start my own thread f I don't split the block and spew forth a river of fail on the dyno tomorrow. I probably will anyway if I do. I understand keeping the power in the low 400 range in the interest of longevity.
  10. Hopefully tomorrow afternoon I'll be able to extract this kind of non-biased, semi-respectful response from Jones. Mustang LOL. Seriously though, as someone who has been in that spot too many times, congrats.
  11. Well, technique counts for something too, in the absence of lockers. I realize Snake Plisken goes balls deep every time though, so I get it. :gabe:
  12. Maybe, but live axles with real locking diffs and electronic swaybar disconnects go a very long way in serious off road situations.
  13. I LOVE the Rubicon, but if you're not really going to make use of the lockers and SB disconnects by off-roading the shit out of it, don't waste your money. They are newer than my Cherokee but basically no nicer inside and the ride quality is about the same. AWESOME off-road but not great for commuting unless you like that sorta thing. I say, if it's purely for enjoyment, go Cobra. If you need to DD it, CTSV for sure.
  14. http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-iAfta3-A3xg/T78UFliTgVI/AAAAAAAAMlw/d9ucGeeS7Ag/s320/money-laundering-globalresearch-ca-jpg.jpg ML recommends I roll it into an IRA, which I was already considering. Then if I still decide to take money out I'll only be penalized on that amount.
  15. I do think that even my new realtor is a waste of space. I just got rid of my old one a few weeks ago. This one can at least reply to emails and shit, but doesn't seem to be doing much else. No one is actively marketing shit. In fact, neither of my realtors has brought a single person in here, only others who have seen the MLS. I wish I could be so bad at my easy job and still make money. I'm in the wrong business. I think it's just my frsutration getting the best of me. I just want this to be over with and it seems to be easier to justify sacrificing money I never had in my pocket over taking a loan for thousands of dollars that I'll be paying for long after I'm gone from here. I'm not really comfortable losing much more money than where I'm at anyway. Just feeling out the best way to do this if it comes to that. I'm about to call ML to see what my options are, but I think I'm also going to send an email to my realtor to see if I can light a fire under their asses.
  16. I was thinking something like this, but from a company like Cintas. They do all sorts of rental and laundering services with rugs, uniforms and such. Maybe towels too. I'd be willing to bet you can talk someone at JEGS into donating several bags of these. http://www.jegs.com/i/JEGS+Performance+Products/555/80180/10002/-1 Maybe offer to wear one of their cycling jerseys in exchange. They have a couple of cycling nuts in high places.
  17. I resigned from my primary employer a while back to pursue self-employment (and mainly to keep from having a stroke from stress). Anyway, things have been picking up but now I have a solid job opportunity far away from here. My house has been on the market for months and I already have it listed for $5k less than I paid for it in 2007. I'd already have to bring $6000 to closing if I sold at my asking price (doubtful). Obviously, the fucking realtor fees are the worst part of it but I just don't seem to have any other options. I have about $10,000 put back, which I'm willing to lose to make this happen, but I'm running out of patience and pissing away money staying in the house (~$2K/month in lost revenue). The bitch is that I probably need to drop my asking price another 5-10k if I'm going to make a quick sale, unless I find the perfect buyers. So I need to "find" 5 to 10 thousand dollars to piss away. I know this money is supposed to be for my golden years, but if I can use it now to leverage myself into a better place (financially and geographically) then why not? I can’t imagine taking a ~30% penalty by taking it straight out, but is there something in between I can do? Maybe roll it into an IRA but take some out with reduced penalties? I think I might qualify for a hardship, but I'm not sure (going to call Merrill Lynch tomorrow). I almost think hardship is my best angle because I don’t think I can take a loan out of it since I'm not with the employer anymore. I don't think I can take all of it right now anyway, just my contributions. They have 5 years to release the rest of it to me. tl;dr: It's my money and I need it now! http://25.media.tumblr.com/tumblr_m1kptvUuZd1r3kar9o1_500.png
  18. Yeah, after doing some further research I finally found an old post on Dell's support forum about it. Basically saying that, exactly as I feared, there is a specific motherboard used to support the stand alone card. Oh well, it's not worth all that to me. Sometimes it would be nice to have, but I'm not a gamer. I'm just trying to pep this machine up a little on the cheap to get a few more years of service out of it if I can. At least it does run the "Aero" experience in Windows 7. Thanks for the tips everyone.
  19. I have been tinkerng with my old Dell Vostro 1500. I'm doubling the memory and installing a fresh copy of Windows 7. Like most laptops, it has onboard video but I found the optional stand-alone video card on eBay for cheap (used, of course). I read the manual and saw some videos about REPLACING them on this series, and it seems pretty straight forward. What I can't find out for sure is if I can ADD that card to this motherboard if it wasn't initially optioned for it. I don't even have a good reason for the upgrade, I just like tinkering. Is this possible? I do use it to process large images in Photoshop ocasionally, so maybe it will help a bit there. I can't imagine Dell would make it so that they have to use a different motherbard or other components that would complicate their production line.
  20. I may walk down and check it out in a little while. Doesn't look like it's going to be blazing hot today.
  21. Fucking stupid, but in a cool way. Not sure how the "active" suspension worked back then, but I suspect it wasn't fucking magnets (how do they work?).
  22. You'll have to forgive Chris. He's Southern European. DEEEP South. http://content.internetvideoarchive.com/content/photos/356/014974_24.jpg
  23. Battleground ALDI 2012 My 1988 Mazda MX6 GT had a magical push-button suspension too. Neither of you fags have experienced the advanced level of awesome that is electronic reciprocating center vents though... WUT!? http://us1.webpublications.com.au/static/images/articles/i1122/112232_8lo.jpg :gabe:
