What will we do without all of the horses?

Bump, we still have this and the new dishwasher is in and installed!

Altered Carbon looks interesting, I've been pretty into futuristic scifi books and shows lately, I'll have to check that out. I'm also excited to watch The Cloverfield Paradox; I really liked Covlerfield and 10 Cloverfield Lane was decent. I thought Bright was half way Ok. I didn't love or hate it, 'worth' the time, but I probably won't bother to watch it again. I will probably watch the second one when I don't have anything better that I'm motivated to do.

If you watch the video, it seems like he's stating CAFE numbers, which are higher for a given vehicle than EPA (Monroney sticker) numbers. I don't know the exact equivalent, or equations, but it seems like 37mpg CAFE is 28mpg EPA. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Corporate_average_fuel_economy#Agreed_standards_by_model_year,_2011-202 He states it has 270hp/440 (480)TQ on gas. For comparisons sake, 2.7L Eco boost is 22mpg EPA combined w/ 325hp/400TQ. The new 3.0L diesel in the F150s has 250hp/440TQ and is expected to get 30+mpg highway EPA, so maybe 24~25 combined? If we talk about tuper-charge engines, we can look at the Volvo T6 2.0L super+turbo charged. In the XC90 AWD it has 316hp/295 TQ and 23mpg combined. Probably a much smaller package and weight than what this currently looks like too. When you go to the T8 hybrid (same front engine w/elec motor and eAxle at hte back) that goes to 400hp/472TQ w/27mpg combined. Definitely a nice bump if they can achieve it and keep emissions, but it doesn't seem so earth shattering when you compare apples-to-apples. It will also probably be pretty expensive at first, since you will have to either license or have Achates make them for you.

Crossover or medium size SUV - CR Peeps Opinions Needed
Trouble Maker replied to TTQ B4U's topic in Passing Lane
I've driven quite a few vehicles in this segment, and it's just mid-pack for me.. then I look at all of the buttons and it get's moved towards the bottom. I really like the Q5 in that segment. Can you get an SQ5 used for that kind of price? If the current RDX is interesting to you, can you wait until the new RDX comes out? http://wardsauto.com/2018-north-american-international-auto-show/acura-rdx-prototype-revealed Current RDX doesn't have SH-AWD, just a friendly FYI. -
That backdrop tho. If that's not peak 1980's, IDK what is. Wait, am I reading Wikipedia right. You could get a Northstar V8 in this thing... and it's FWD?

Yeah, pop-ups or tear drops don't weigh that much. If you want an actual hard side/top, you'll probably 'need' an SUV. I've looked into small/light trailers in the past, and found some interesting ones from going through this list. http://smalltrailerenthusiast.com/manufacturers-2/ https://cars.usnews.com/cars-trucks/best-cars-for-towing https://www.edmunds.com/car-reviews/top-10/top-13-best-cars-for-towing-for-2013.html Just to give you some ideas,if you do want to tow, but also want a sedan/wagon. I'm sure those list aren't exhaustive. The Volvo S60 seems pretty interesting, it looks like it can tow 3300~3500lbs in recent years.

I honestly can't understand how you ended up with 2 (soccer mom mall crawler) SUVs on the list with the criteria you posted.

I've no idea if this is any good, but if it is, this seems like a great deal on it. https://www.monoprice.com/product?c_id=105&cp_id=10521&cs_id=1052102&p_id=30366&seq=1&format=2

Running out of space.. and available time too
Trouble Maker replied to 88lx5oh's topic in Passing Lane
Aaron, you were talking about some bolt on GT350 parts right, intake manifold or something? So, if you put those parts on, with a tune, you're probably at about the same power level? Then, the only thing you are missing is the flat plane... yeah, you're right, that's cool but not worth the probably $10k+ more in cost. -

My guess is the answer is, way to expensive to be worth it, feasible... but how about a Voodoo motor? This is more of an idea, something to talk about than an actual suggestion. -
NP. I don't know what exact parts he got. I and other people I know have bought quite a few things from recommendations on Wire Cutter and have never been disappointed. I like that they take the time to explain the background so I an have some confidence that what I'm buying will work for my situation. Do you have any devices you can plug into your modem by Ethernet to troubleshoot the situation, make sure you are getting 100 out of the modem into the router?
-
Guy at work just went through this and was talking about it yesterday, I think he was getting around 30 down too. Replaced modem and was up to 100 plugged in, but still slowish over wifi. Replaced the router and is getting ~90 now over wifi. https://thewirecutter.com/reviews/best-cable-modem/ https://thewirecutter.com/reviews/best-wi-fi-router/ Joe, have you looked into the new ultra mega wifi routers that 'come with' or you can get mesh devices that work with them? It sounded like you were saying maybe you were still having wifi issues out in the barn. https://thewirecutter.com/reviews/best-wi-fi-mesh-networking-kits/ I've no hands on working knowledge, if this will work for as far as you are trying to reach out from your house to your barn, but it might be worth looking into.

Should the OP be banned for a few days for posting click bait with 50 click throughs?

You going up to Lake of the Woods this summer too? I'm sure we've talked about it before, but that's where I work during the winter. There is a ton of ice fishing during the winter up in that area.

Agreed 100%. We moved into our place a little over 5 years ago and it didn't have a dishwasher; that's a no go in our house, dishes would never get done without one. We are only selling this because we are towards the end of a major kitchen renovation which allowed us to go with a built in dishwasher. Let's hope so, I'm a little behind on these cabinet installs over my winter holiday shutdown. This would take 1 small thing off of our plates and out of our house before the new appliances get here.

I don't really know too much, just know they asked us something like, dining room or something else that had more 'regular' type of food, I think it was downstairs. We picked up stairs because of the occasion, so I don't know anything more about the other area.
-
We miss hanging out with you two too, damn house is taking up too much of our time. Oh man, I can't wait to see what the menus look like. :lolguy: I was actually thinking about one of the high end steak places; we've never done one of those before since we are more bird or sea creature eaters, but I've always wanted to go to one. I think this would be more up your alley. Anyway, let's go to one of these places. Love you too! BTW, I'm only traveling for 1 week this winter! Have been thinking about seeing how you & Howard's winters looked for a trip. How's your winter looking?
-
We really liked upstairs for a 'special occasion' dinner; we went there for my birthday. I don't remember it being that expensive, but I don't generally care, pay too much attention, if I spend $20 or $120 on a dinner. I am interested to try their other area, I think it's downstairs and is supposed to be more like 'nice bar food'; burgers etc.

I thank you for your productive contribution to this thread.

Anyone know if these ASIC miners can mine any kind of coin? Can you allocate x% to this coin, y% to this coin, z% to this coin?

So, fourish months ago and S9 would net 5 BTC/year Now it's 0.5 BTC/year So in March it's going to be 0.05 BTC/year? Sounds like a deal! Am I missing something? If the computing power is increasing 0.5% per day, it shoudl be about 2.5x the current level in 180 days. So, in reality that S9 would get you about 0.2 BTC/year six months from now? Which, as of prices right now is only $2k, so it would take you 1.5 years to recoup, except for at 2 years out from now the computing power will be 38x the current levels so you'll only be getting 0.013 BTC/year. :lolguy: If I just did my calculations right, it would take the heat death of the universe to pay off one of these things AT the current BTC price. If you got it today, the R4 might pay for itself in a half or 2/3 of a year, but if you got it in 6 months, it would never pay off.
