  1. We did something like this trip 1.5 years ago. Planned was something like 5kmi and by google maps just now ~80 hours of driving. We took our flex day and a half at the end and went out to Sandiego for one night/day. Ended up I think closer to 6kmi. Less time spent driving is more time in the parks. You're talking about a week of the three week trip plus or minus, just driving. Sorry Aaron, no specifics about cops out there. I just set my cruise to +9mph and never have issues, but understand if you wan to go faster. At any rate, have fun out there, it's a really fun trip!
  2. Where did you read about this at?
  3. I'll second saying whatever companies tools & batteries you currently have, as long as it will do the job and unless you do some research and find really bad reviews on it. If you already have a newer tool & battery it would be silly to buy a cordless impact from another company and have 2 different systems, batteries & chargers that don't work with each other.
  4. I and many people I've suggested this site to have used their recommendations and never been let down. http://thewirecutter.com/reviews/best-bluetooth-on-or-over-ear-headphones/ http://thewirecutter.com/reviews/the-best-150-over-ear-headphones/ The $150 over the ear (wired) headphones they suggested are only $85 on Amazon right now. Beats are junk for the price.
  5. I'd rather watch Netflix and chill out over at your place... But for real, it's been too long.
  6. Bump, list in the original post is updated with removed movies sold.
  7. New price bumps! MP Tek EF50T 5.1 speaker set. $350 OBO Olympus PRO LX5s $30 Onkyo TX-SR606 $30 TV Stand $40
  8. Bump... with new prices but I can't edit the original post. Dynastar Trouble Makers $100 OBO Dynastar Omecarve 10s $150 OBO Lange WC 120 $150OBO
  9. Isn't that the fob for an i8? I'm also pretty sure PDQ was making a joke.
  10. Someone has to pump out nice smart kids to offset all of the dummies popping out too many of them. :gabe:
  11. They have a Fit & Matrix; they've done multiple family trips to other states in the Fit. I think they'll be just fine in something 2-3x the size regardless if it's a minivan or SUV. I know the benefits of a minivan to families, I agree, they are really the ideal form factor for that situation He doesn't care about the whole minivan VS SUV thing. He's not the type to measure his manhood by his car, at all. They drove the Sienna & Highlander back to back and liked the way the Highlander drove a ton more than the Sienna I think it would be a hard stretch to get him to buy a domestic car. I'm honestly not a big fan of Chrysler products in general so I'd be hesitant to steer him that way; sorry Phil! He's going to buy new. He's a pediatric emergency surgeon. I don't think he needs to worry about getting a 10 year old used Odyssey to save money. They keep cars for a long time so that will help the cost/benefit. So, back on topic. Are there any known big issues with the new Highlander hybrid or Toyotas hybrid through the road systems in general?
  12. I've got a friend who's even more of a tree hugging hippie than I am, but he has 3 kids with 1 on the way so the Fit & Matrix combo won't work anymore. What's the good/bad on these? I'm not sure yet if he's looking new or used. I assume last gen is a mech AWD system, and it looks like this new gen is hybrid through the road. So between a generation change and powertrain change, they are probably pretty different cars.
  13. So, this is an instant-ban offense right? http://www.columbusracing.com/forums/showthread.php?t=122997 Or, can slurs only be about race and it's ok to use derogatory names about people in other communities still on here?
  14. Ditto; we rented a POS on Hawaii and I regret it. We rented a Mustank on Maui and had a ton of fun with it. We stayed 2 nights in Hana and really enjoyed it, probably because we could actually do some stuff there. And, we stayed in a tree house which was super fucking rad. The road past Hana was one of my favorite driving sections during the whole trip. Wizzard Pup? These books are great. They have a website too, and maybe an app? http://www.hawaiirevealed.com/ One of my favorite things was Volcanoes National park; go during the day and (quickly) check out the crater, do Chain of Craters road, hike the caldera, go have dinner in town and they go back and check out 'the glow'; you can see the heat/light from the lava in the main crater at night that you can't in the day. Very cool to see the difference from night to day. This was one of my favorite days of the whole trip. Long day but well worth it.
  15. Anyone watching this? I've only watched 2/3 of the first episode last night, but it's pretty phenomenal so far. https://vimeo.com/128699210
  16. From a very little bit of research it seems like that car is a 'passive' TPMS system. Long story short, install whatever tire/wheel, start the car, hit that tire pressure learn button Carl talked about, drive, 0 fucks given. Active: Has actual pressure sensors in each wheel. Passive: Not actual sensors, 'calculates' a value based off of other sensor info. In the case of TPMS, from the wheel speed sensors; based off of difference in tire size and wheel speed vibrations, etc. Lots of cars are going to 'virtual' sensors for various things in the car. If A=B+C, there is no need for an actual sensor to monitor A if you already have a sensor for B and C, sensor A would be redundant. In Honda's with the passive system there is a button to recalibrate/learn the system in case of reinflating tires or install different tires since they will have different characteristics of how the wheel speed signal looks to the computer. If you have the button like Carl talked about, you should be fine. Just install new wheels/tires and hit that button when you start the car. System will learn as you drive. You should be able to look at the valve stems to understand if you have actual sensor or not. I highly suggest against putting very different overall diameter tires on your car. The little bit you could gain from snow ground clearance could mess with the ABS/VSA and some other systems. Not to mention you could easily have issues with tire interference with body or sus. If you need more snow ground clearance, get something other than an Accord. Or, we are in Central Ohio, stay inside the 2 days/year you might actually turn your car into a snow plow.
  17. BUMP! Sold about 30 of these, but need to update the list. But, most are still available.
  18. BUMP. Everything still available except for the speaker stands, but I can't edit the original post.
  19. So, on this note. Some coworkers took a CHL class a few weekends ago and said their instructor said this and it seemed strange to both them and me. If you are in a car you own, Castle Doctrine applies. But if you are in a car you don't own, it doesn't. In other words, I'm driving my car, someone tries to car jack me; I can defend. But if I'm driving my friends car and someone tries to car jack me; I have to 'retreat' if reasonable possible e.g. try to drive away first. Any thoughts, Joe?
  20. But how else am I going to teach those damn kids to get off of my lawn.
  21. Their food is really good; try the octopus Galician style!
