No, you don't really want it.
-
I won't go get it, I'm interested in online deals. I also said I'm not looking for the cheapest thing, but a deal on a good TV.
-
Any deals on TVs? Looking for a 50-55", probably 55". Not the cheapest one, but very good PQ and reasonable price/middle of the road model. Looking for a soundbar too, but I really feel I need to more thinking on this one before I take the plunge into a soundbar versus full 5.1 system.

[serious] looking for opinions on cellular networks and switching.
Trouble Maker replied to Murse's topic in Dumpster
I have a good friend who has that plan and it's really annoying, he will never answer his phone because he doesn't have enough minutes. I think you can buy more, pay more if you go over? But he just doesn't want to. -
Yup, Brad works in another part of our group so I don't work directly with him, but in the same overall group.

Thanks for picking it up so quickly and timely. I'm glad someone could put it to good use. We've gotten all of our couches up this point in our life for free. They all been nice couches, really nice considering they were free. I'm glad we can pass them onto someone just getting their own place!

Who's that? I probably know him.

Ya, I really wish they had coverage where I work. I very likely would have went with them last time and gotten a Nexus. -
Where are you interning at? I'm at R&D and could meet you somewhere around Columbus to chat. Are you planning to get your 4 year degree after this? The typical jobs here are different, I can't speak as much into the engineering tech positions that a 2 year degrees typically does, but I could probably point you to someone else. I also haven't been here for too long so I may be in the honeymoon phase.:lolguy: so keep that in mind if we talk. Is this assignment for school? I'm still more than happy to chat but it sounds like you could talk to any engineer? Not just someone who works for Honda. There are also a lot of suppliers in the area that are in the automotive field and I'm sure there are quite a few people on here working for them.

Not funny ryan posted first and says he can come pick it up tomorrow so he gets first shot. Brad, if he doesn't come tomorrow I will let you know and you can have a chance at it after that.

It's a little deep, measures about 70" x 39". In good condition, nothing broken or skinking, no animals in our house. Super comfortable to nap on. Only reason we are getting rid of it is because we bought a new couch. We would very much like to get rid of it before thanksgiving as we are having some family over. We were given it, so it's only fair we give it to someone else. I can help someone get it out of our house and into a truck. I live on the north side of Columbus and am free most evenings and weekends. http://www.columbusracing.com/forums/picture.php?albumid=755&pictureid=7384

Why not a 01E trans, $$$$? Just curious, it was what came to mind before you even stated which trans you were going to use but I don't know any of the technical details. I assume it would bolt up, was probably the manual option in v8 4-chassis sized cars (b6&b7)? Looks like a cool swap, good luck! How do those motors take to boost? Maybe an option down the road if you get bored with the power.

I've seen deer around my house in Clinvonville. Just last week we saw a Buck cross high street darting in between cars in front of us nearly as big as the 2 posted here. I know we have woods and rivers around here but it still feels weird to see big animals like that.

Somewhat related, what's the best method for trying to flush out a heater core? Friend at work's Passat says his heat isn't working and I guess the heater core being clogged is a common issue.

I like this direction, everyone thinks their kid/niece/nephew/best friends kid is (much) smarter than average.

Drawbacks to running a taller tire on rear of FWD car?
Trouble Maker replied to Browning's topic in Tech and Tips
There is tire diameter compensation logic that 'corrects' the speed of the slower/faster tire, so that while moving in a straight line at constant speed they all 'read' the same speed. This takes some time so before that happens the thresholds are higher to take into account a 'worst case' situation, usually something larger than the stock spare versus the stock regular tire. This is the typical base idea, but some makers have different concepts of how to handle this. But they will all have some idea of how to handle differently sized tires to avoid the false activation situation you are talking about. But that's now, the systems in 1998 were (typically) much less sophisticated, well thought and thoroughly test as they are now. -
I'm lusting after this thing in a likely unhealthy way. Although the base color palette is a bit boring. Basically 2 shades of red and 4 variations from white to black.

Drawbacks to running a taller tire on rear of FWD car?
Trouble Maker replied to Browning's topic in Tech and Tips
Scott, I think we are agreeing here but just stating it differently. Any system that fails with the stock sized tire and the stock space saver spare was a very, very poorly designed and tested system. I'm sure it's happened but that's just bad engineering. -

Fixt.... Well I guess it depends on what you mean by 'properly', really the different tires might make a bigger difference than differently sized tires. Will it fail or be unsafe? Very likely not. Will it not perform at 100%? No, but this is ture for not only abs but the entire car as soon as you you put non stock tires on the car. Protip. Just by sidewall difference those tires are closer in diameter than some stock tires at to the stock spare. -
Fastest true stick Mustang 8.58 (drag video)
Trouble Maker replied to SHIEF's topic in Pics and Vids
I don't think they are claiming the fastest manual car, but the fastest manual Mustang. Right in their description. 'We believe this to be the world's fastest pass for a mustang on a true ( synchronized ) manual transmission!" -
Has anyone signed up on healthcare.gov? v. Serious
Trouble Maker replied to Ramsey's topic in Dumpster
If I'm reading it right to get any subsidy you have to make under 4x poverty level, and either not be offered (sufficient) health care through your company or have it cost more than 9.5% of income. The calc for how much you can/will pay also goes something like 2% at 1.x? times poverty level scaling to 9.5% at 4x poverty level. So someone who makes $45,800/year could pay up to $360/month. I would hope one could find less expensive sufficient health care coverage than that, but maybe not. I couldn't agree more. -

I'm all for health care reform. Our house payment is only ~10% of our income (not take home, pretax), and I feel should be my most expensive bill (it's far behind my biggest outflow which is savings/retirement). But my health care is supposed to cost 9.5%? My partner pays $130/mth on her own. It would cost us ~$150 through her company (they pay half so $300 total). It looks like from the calc the cost would be ~$260 (base plan), so comparable to her companies cost. I'm just baffled by the 9.5% figure. -
Everyone could know how to merge perfect on the cloverleafs around 270 and they would still backup. Simply too much traffic. I won't disagree that poor mergers make it even worse. Why do they need to merge before/as soon as the lane appears? When I've lined my car up in a gap in front of theirs, and their car was lined up in a gap behind mine, why do they feel the need to accelerate and try to get in front of me? This is especially infuriating when they are exiting and I'm entering the highway. I'm accelerating and they need to slow down, they were already behind me so just slot in behind me while they naturally slow down for their exit. :fuuuu::fuuuu::fuuuu::fuuuu:
