Cut him some slack. He was typing with one hand.

Agreed. Nice car, and I'm glad to see someone out there doing what they love with cars. I'm not big into drifting, but I know it takes skill and it's a lot of fun. Welcome to the site.

Detroit is a sad sight. There is so much empty land now (enough empty land within the city limits that downtown San Francisco could fit inside it) that they are trying to get people to relocate to one side so they can cut back city services and bulldoze all the crack dens. Ubran farming is taking off too.

When we're near Sarasota my wife always like to go to St Armands Circle. There's a good Cuban restaurant there called Columbia.

Fatal accident today at 1:30pm on 270NB at Easton.

Safety restrains and crash structure have come a long way in that amount of time. -
FYI on prices - Lowes will price match any written quote, even internet. We just replaced our front door with a really nice ThermaTru and we knocked a really good chunk of money off by shopping around. I got the quote from an internet company and took it to them, they matched it and said they would be losing money on the door. And they didn't even ask to match it with freight included.

Fatal accident today at 1:30pm on 270NB at Easton.

I've seen people go to the trouble of buckling the belt with the seat empty, then sitting on top of it. -
The problem with this argument you're trying to make is that 65 is the speed limit on the freeway, and typically anything under 45 mph is illegal. So, when driving on the freeway the expectation is the traffic around you will be going a certain speed. So your example of parking on the freeway is actually most similar to the guys racing, because it increases the closing speeds of the people around you, which gives them less time to see you and react. When you are sitting at a corner, trying to turn across 3 lanes of traffic, your eyes are scanning the oncoming traffic looking for an opening large enough for you to pass through. As you sit there and wait, your brain begins to assume certain closing rates of the oncoming cars, until you can see it for enough time that you can accurately judge a large difference in speed. The Vic driver was looking through traffic, which obscured his view of the racers. They came into view as he started turning, and partway through the turn he realized they were traveling much faster than all thr other cars that have already passed, and he stopped. He only had fractions of a second to judge the speed of those cars, he didn't have the visibility to see them coming all the way down the road. Had the Vic pulled out in front of traffic that was going the speed limit (or closer to it) the accident would have been much less severe, if it happened at all. The slower closing speeds would give more time for both (or all 3) drivers to react and potentially avoid a collision. Speed was the cause of this accident, and racing was the cause of the speed.

No, it just seems like too many people in here are blaming the other car when, obviously, speed contributed to the accident. The fact that the Crown Vic stopped in the middle of the intersection tells you that he either didn't see them coming, or didn't expect them to be approaching that quickly. If he NEVER saw them, he would have kept going through the intersection. People have no idea what it looked like from the Vic's point of view, yet they jump to the defense of the two cars that were clearly breaking the law. Also, the camera doesn't pan up until after the Mustang starts pulling away. You don't know if they were driving side by side before the camera pans over. Sure, they don't 3 honk it, but you expect me to believe that they were video taping a Sunday drive and this Mustang just happened to drive by? They were probably side-by-side, the Mustang got the jump, and the camera panned over late. But it really doesn't matter too much because they were both clearly going much faster than traffic on that road and that's the true cause of the accident and the reason for its severity. Even the guy driving called it a race, but everyone else wasn't to internet quarterback this crap.

Glad you're ok. Cars can be replaced, although it sucks that you just paid it off.

I like it. With some paint it should look really nice.

THEY WERE RACING ON A PUBLIC ROAD, IN TRAFFIC! How many people are going to make excuses for these jackasses and blame the accident on the other driver?! How many people on this forum have to die or get arrested before people start realizing it's a stupid, dangerous thing to do?
-
Yes, they still remove easily. You can also buy 'half doors' through Mopar.
-
Those guys were going way too fast on that road and considering the traffic on that road, the guy probably never had a chance to see them. I can't believe people in this thread actually want to blame the accident on the Crown Vic.

Well, a few people missed the point of the thread. Sure, your friend hates the interior on his 2005 300C. That's because it's crap. This is about the improvements made for 2011. Sure Hyundai has made great strides in their line up, but being employed in Detroit I tend not to shit where I eat. I'll never buy one for both political and economical reasons. Ever. (And yes, I know they reached a trade agreement this week) Journey http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2010/11/lead6-2011-dodge-journey-qs.jpg 8.5 inch touch screen http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2010/11/lead5-2011-dodge-journey-qs.jpg Wrangler http://motorcitymusclecars.files.wordpress.com/2010/08/2011-jeep-wrangler-jk-interior.jpg Color Matched Hard Top http://www.carshowp.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/08/2011-Jeep-Wrangler-Duo-Cars-View.jpg Grand Cherokee http://landmarkdodge.com/blog/wp-content/uploads/2010/03/2011-jeep-grand-cherokee-dash.jpg 200C http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_6sM-lX_rJfA/TMwNVEbca0I/AAAAAAAAByY/cZ_oDRDRqEc/s1600/dg011006av.jpg Caravan http://image.motortrend.com/f/auto-news/first-official-photos-of-2011-dodge-grand-caravan-revealed/31069222+w750/2011-dodge-grand-caravan-interior.jpg Town and Country http://image.motortrend.com/f/31330204+w750/1110-2011-chrysler-town-and-country-interior.jpg

I agree. Most of their cars got shitty mileage. But the new 3.6L 285 HP V6 Avenger/200C gets rated at 29 or 30 mpg. Not sure what it gets in other cars, like the Journey. Once MiltiAir gets put on the current engines their mileage should go up a bit more.

A year ago and a half ago the outlook for Chrysler was bleak. All their product was crap and there was no hope on the horizon. Today it looks like they have made great strides and most of their line up for 2011 is new and getting good reviews. Their marketing is doing a great job too. So far they have: Challenger - 300 HP V6, and the SRT get's 470 HP (Although could be underrated). Journey - ~280 HP v6, all new steering, suspension tuning, and a really nice looking interior with one of the largest and fastest responding touch screens in the industry. Minor exterior changes. Avenger/200C - Minor exterior changes for Avenger (but decent looking), ~280HP V6 in a very affordable package, much improved interior, all new suspension tuning and bushings. One was next to me at a light this morning and the guy punched it off the line. I was surprised to hear it chirp second gear and it moved out pretty quickly. The 200C gets all the same, but has an all new exterior. It's a lot better than the old Sebring, but I'm undecided if I like the front. The rear resembles a new Jag XF, and actually looks ok. Caravan/Town&Country - Minor exterior, all new interior is a huge improvement, new suspension tuning. Charger - All new for 2011. Haven't seen too many reviews on it yet. The interior dash design is polarizing, with is a good thing. Better to have 'love-it or hate -it' over 'meh.' 300C - All new for 2011. No reviews yet. I think it looks ok, except for the ugly tail lights. Grand Cherokee - All new, great interior, ride/handling, off-road capability, and looks. Traction control and suspension have different selectable modes. Wrangler - All new interior is a huge improvement. Now available with a color matching hard top. In Europe the diesel engine gets start/stop. The compass is getting a new exterior that mimics the GC and has a refreshed interior that matched the Patriot. So with all this activity is anyone considering a Chrysler that typically wouldn't have? I've been in quite a few of these and I think this is quite a comeback story. I was never a Chrysler fan, but for the first time ever I could see myself considering a few of these if I were in the market again.

Other than the 'fun to drive' part you could get into a 2010+ Equinox. Fusion is a good choice, Chevy Cruze would be good, others may be dependent on mileage/condition/year as to if they'll fit in your budget.

NHTSA proposes mandatory backup cameras by 2014
Mallard replied to frenchy chan's topic in Passing Lane
Yeah, My 2010 Equinox has the LCD screen in the mirror (if you don't have NAV) and I think it's pretty decent. The problem with ultrasonic park sensors is they beep for EVERYTHING, so you tend to start ignoring it. They beep for curbs, parking blocks, the garage door opening/wall, as well as objects you care about. Tim, the Fusion definitely has a nice set up. A lot of the Chrysler's I used to drive had similar systems and I thought they were great. The one thing I like about the new Ford's (Edge and Explorer, at least) is they have a digital zoom function that makes it even easier to hook up a trailer. Have any of you seen a 360 degree "surround view" system? Pretty amazing technology, if you ask me. -
Congrats! Welcome to home ownership.

It ran a 12.44 @ 110.72 ( ) Dover - Better get your check book ready. The Charger they showed at SEMA even had SRT badging on it.

So it looks like they are going to build the Quattro
Mallard replied to Rally Pat's topic in Passing Lane
For that price I would buy an R8, even though I really like the Quattro.
