The grinding wheels I have are really slow and like firebush said it is easier not to gouge with the flapper wheel...- the flapper takes off more material but wears out quickly... I guess I just better suck it up and keep going... I am talking probably 4 solid hours of grinding. Is a diamond wheel what you are referring to as a tiger paw?

Hey all- What do you use to grind large quantities of mild steel? I cut all the brackets off this ford 8.8 with a cut off wheel and oxy/acetylene torch but I still have about a 1/4" before I hit the axle tube that I need to remove. I bought the most coarse blue-green flapper wheels that the hardware store had and it is still taking forever and going through them quickly... I have 6 to grind down about 4" long by 1/2" wide by 1/4" thick.... Will one of those 40-60.00 diamond wheels do it? I don't like how much they cost but if it lasts a really long time it might be worth it... they are made for concrete and granite though...dunno about their steel rating. I am using electric harbor freight 4.5" angle grinder and I have a makita as well- both seem to work about the same... I have a few cheap air grinders as well but as of right now don't have a good enough air supply to run them...

nice! Make sure you check the alignment frequently... maybe they fixed it but a buddy of mine had one and he went through a set of tires every 8K miles

haha that's me as well.... ! I don't even like watching autosports! If I must watch something it is basketball in real life. I worry that I should encourage my sons to watch more sports than I though as they grow up as it does seem to be important when talking with most males... As far as chicks that like watching sports- dunno about that one- in my experience (not much) those were mostly the ones that didn't get much attention from men otherwise...

I got a really good deal on mine at a Corvette specialist in Michigan- as already posted I would stick with corvetteforum. Nelson lamborghini sometimes has one or two at a decent price- toybarn does as well but they are pretty high. I would call Terry at Coughlin in Pataskala if you insist on local- he had one there at a pretty good price he was going to work with someone on last time we had my dad's 08 in for service. If you already like your targa c5 why not just modify that one? I am a sucker for the FRC body and knew I wasn't going to modify this car much which is why I went with it- I don't know where they are at but if it weren't for the FRC look I would be in the market for an 08+ Z51 car. Make sure the window mouldings above the door aren't cracked- they are 200.00 a piece and they all crack in time and make sure the pump kit is in the back- they aren't cheap either. Partition/vette tray is almost a necessity so if you find one with it already there that's a plus. I can't remember the other stuff now- pm me to remind me and I will see if I can find it...

Vids don't work... nice job though! Does that roll bar bolt in or did you weld it? It looks very high-quality. I am surprised he didn't have you weld the axle tubes- is it going to be more of a road racing car?

Hey all, As I am sure some of you know the explorer 8.8 rear end has an offset center section. I am planning on using it in a normal rwd application with a central driveshaft. Do you think the fact that the driveshaft will be at a slight angle will be a problem? I don't really want to shorten it and get custom axles yet to center it. Thanks!

wow- that's a lot of dough for seats... not my bag. I wouldn't do the kirkeys that is what AJ had iirc and he hated them- he put OMP Halos in his camaro and really liked them.. .will those fit?

awesome! I had a trickflow stage 1 in my supercharged 5.0 and I was not a fan on cold days... please do on the seats- I am not surprised they are heavier- the c5z seats suck! I modified my bolsters for more support but the bottoms are starting to crack like every other c5 on the planet... I do like the z06 embroidery though... I know mine will be replaced at some point- a lot of guys like the carvaggios on corvetteforum- I would assume they are very expensive? AJ had a set of seats he recommended in his camaro- I will have to check what they were- maybe scat?

I like the color keyed lowers over the black- I wonder what it would look like with that black grille painted body color as well... nice ride congrats!

What is the wall thickness and stainless steel type for those header pipes shown on your website?? Are you using the same material flanges or mild steel flanges? Have you been able to make any money with this car? Not to be rude but curious if that helps with motivation... Do you need to wear an oxygen mask in a car that fast? *serious* When my old 5.0 used to hook hard I thought I could pass out and it was only capable of high 11s. You have more balls than me to drive it!... Have you had the roll cage welds x-rayed? I have no reason to doubt them as I have never seen your car in person but I would be ultra-paranoid if I were the pilot... Thanks for sharing! Laters, Andrew

I've had the BFG KDWs on our RSX-S and my old 5.0 coupe very nice tires just noisy as hell.... I have no doubt the michelin ps2 is the superior "all season" tire for a lot of hard miles. I chose the NT05s because they are stickier in dry traction and were cheaper- I drive like a grandma now in the rain anyhow as I totaled my firebird due to a hydroplane... the PS2s have much better wet weather performance and last longer due to the thicker tread depth. I drive my vette more than most but it sits all winter and if I need to haul anything including kids I take the wife's car or the explorer. For me to put 20K miles on it may take up to 4 years and the tires will be hard after 2. The Nittos are only supposed to last 12K miles or so which is about right for me in 2 years or about 1.5) The invos aren't a comparable tire to the NT05.. the closest would be the Nitto drag radials with stiff sidewalls. If you have seen the tread pattern they are practically cheater slicks....

I went with the Nitto NT05s and so far really enjoy them. If I can get decent wear out of these then I will get them again. I have almost 10K on them IIRC and they still look good. The PS2s have more tread depth but I would fear they would get hard (like the 12K mile F1 supercars I had on there when I bought it) before I used up the available rubber so I would rather buy fresher shorter lasting tires for the same money or a little cheaper depending on how these last...

Hey all We are looking for a good home for our 9 year old Russian Blue short-haired cat. She has been spayed and her front claws have been removed. She is very affectionate and a very good cat. Recently my wife and kids were gone for three weeks and she acted like her old self again. As soon as they returned she started running around the house making weird noises and spits up a lot. I don't think she can handle all of the noise and commotion of a 6 month old and almost 3 year old boys. She hasn't been mean or destructive and I hesitate to post this as we will miss her and I know my son will be very sad to lose her as well but I think if another home could be found without small children she would be a lot happier. She is a very pretty cat and her entire body is a light greyish-blue color- hence the name. She has always been fed Iams food and you can have her litter box and carrier. I have to disclose that we used to have a male domestic short hair and they did not get along very well- he chose to live outside for most of the day as opposed to put up with her- maybe it was a personality difference or a male/female thing but he was a lot bigger and not that much older.
