  1. I need a driver side speaker grille in black if gearhead only needs the passenger side.
  2. I think I have "FRPP C"s now with worn out KYBs and the ride/handling is unbearable to say the least. The reason I say I think is that the previous owner told me that he had installed lowering springs and the springs have no tags on them- the rears had a set of Ford numbers but the dealer didn't know what they were as it was an engineering number instead of a part number.

  4. Sam, Well you would know before me as you have both! :-) Is the z06 ride too stiff for daily driving? I thought they had different transmission ratios? Also- in my previous post I never said which way I would go- I was just mentioning differences between the two cars- Personally I wouldn't buy a Z06 with more than 15K miles. Preferably under 10K. Even a mild mannered milk toast will fry the tires.

  6. heck yeah! Been thinking about it all last week and this week!! I can't wait to take this thing down the track more than once.... I was shifting soo short last time with the factory tach it is embarassing. Also would like to try launching lower than 5000 and having a little bit of first gear left at the 60'. Also can't wait to see some of the cars and meet the people that drive them that I hear about on this list all the time--- some reason I never can make myself visit QS&L.

Autox, I wanted to go to the event on the 2nd of September but I could not figure out what time it started from the ovr website and wasn't going ot be back from cambridge ohio until ~10AM. What time is the october event? Thanks for the suggestions- Max Motorsports also makes a K-member brace which I will probably get down the road. That fox looks pretty sweet I will def. want to see it.... obviously he doesnt daily drive that one.... AI coupe- I have looked at the full griggs setup or the maximum motorsports max grip package but am afraid they have too much NVH for a 99% street driven car... do you drive yours daily? How does it drive on the street? twistedfocus - on the shocks yeah I am kind of skimping on them, I have heard the yellows dont adjust as soft as they should for daily driving? I have also kicked around bilsteins... which I probably should go with . The koni reds are stiffer than yellows correct? I have heard that the griggs/max motorsports/other aftermarket tubular k-members are offset and mess with tire clearance/ball joint/rotor clearance and you kind of need different spindles and 5 lug to make it work? pro3i control arms are identical to max motorsports- two designers came up with them and then parted ways.. pro3i is cheaper. My fox already has factory front and rear sway bars... that is a good suggestion though and I will def look into larger ones once I get some decent shocks and springs under it.... I am definitely planning wider tires once mine are burned up... I am thinking of 275s all around with mavromont 17" pony rims that are 9" wide but look 100% stock. I have 245/50 KDWS now which is the widest I can go on the stock 7" rims. Thanks all!

  9. Hey all, What do you think of this recipe? The car is a daily driver that I want to corner better than my wife's Acura RSX-S or even her previous 95 240 SX I am seriously on the fence of sinking more money in this car or letting it go and getting an 02-04 z06 but here is what I plan..... I figure if I can improve handling and hold off 6 months minimum I will be money ahead as compared to 600 a month for a z06. Maybe run with a base vette or a 350 Z???   10. What about the different transmissions, different rear ends, thinner glass, different seats, wider wheels, titanium exhaust, etc... IMHO not even comparable. Are you planning on modifying the car or do you just want to get in and drive it? If you plan mods my opinion I would agree to get the base vette. the Z06 is a factory package that is engineered to haul ass in every direction and screwing with it will just hurt its value. I am in the same ballpark as you between now and three years from now and I am 99% sure I am getting a z06. The only negative I have heard is the ride is a bit stiff??? Will they let you drive both? I contacted a local dealer about test driving a z06 and they never got back to me. I have never driven either but my sister had a '99 SS Camaro that I would guess is pretty close to a base vette. What are they asking for the 02-04 Z06? I have seen them anywhere from high 20s to high 30s. And don't worry I won't buy the black one from under you- I want silver.

  12. correction- not sick of the PCA- they have endless good memories from their time with that group- The only reason they stopped is that we sold their last porsche back in '05.
  13. FWIW- you may have more luck if you get a factory rear deck and offer the turbo whale tail as an option. Upgrading the tensioners will also help bring full value Porsche people are fanatical about concours/originality. My dad had a 1987 white M491 Cabriolet w/ color coded wheels, 1 of 16. M491 has the turbo body, brakes, and suspension. It only had 10,000 original miles and was perfect in every way, people would come all across the country to look at it and would want to walk after they saw that he had taken off the factory whale tail and "ET" light and put a speedster rear deck on it until he told them he had saved the tail and light and they were perfect as well and came with the car. My parents have been PCA members since the 70s and have had numerous porsche cars. Finally got sick of them and my dad is back to vettes.

Sure it will be hot- but on a bike how long do you actually have to have it on? 13 seconds at the longest? Pretty easy decision people.
  15. Have the chain tensioners been upgraded to carrera specs? Does it run hot? Has the A/C been converted to R134A? Does it blow cold? Heat exchangers been swapped to stainless? How are the rear deck lid shocks? Pushrod tubes leak oil? Bumpsteer?

  18. Whats wrong with the car? I want to get a 02-04 z06 but I can't find a reason to get rid of my coupe that has the same power to weight ratio, sounds better IMO, and currently has no car payment. I am afraid to drive one however to compel me. If you are just having fits with the rear disc swap, you can easily sell all those parts for what you paid or more and get the Maximum Motorsports BP-1 kit that will look 100% stock and stop better in the end (my plan).
