  1. You beat me to it. RPM Transmissions is the way to go. Just ask all of the guys/customers from IPS that have used them. I had my T-56 beefed up this year by them and it shifts like a dream. Tommy at IPS has a built tranny from them in his TBSS and it shifts hard at the track and holds the 6xx rwtq that he has thrown at it. The vette guys ran built 60's at first as well. RPM is very quick at getting them done as well.
  2. Put a melon in the tip. That is aweful.
  3. I'm just saying that you won't be able to test and tune all night. Every once in awhile bracket racing is fun. Best part is cutting a good light on people and playing with them after that.
  4. It's bracket racing on Wednesday guys. Get there early enough to get a couple of runs before the bracket racing starts. Here is a link http://www.nationaltrailraceway.com/apcm/templates/results.asp?articleid=946&zoneid=63&navsource=Points%20Home Just look on the left and you'll see the Wednesday night points links. Used to be really busy on Wednesday's, but I haven't been in a really long time for that reason.
  5. When I saw the title I figured it was this car. Saw it at Kilkare a few weeks ago on Thursday. Ran rather well. Welcome.
  6. Tried that with the IRS and I think I moved 3 feet, possibly less. It was funny when the guy at the line looked at me as I put the window down and took my helmet off. He asked me if I broke. I just laughed and said yes. I was thinking to myself "Why would I still be sitting at the starting line if everything was fine?" AAA saved me some money again. I guess it's worth it, unless you have your own trailor.
  7. I was debating whether or not to try to slip higher or do what I did. Stupid aluminum flywheel and no inertia makes it fun to try and slip and not bog. I guess I know what not to do with the IRS now
  8. Sounds familiar. If I remember correctly you guys started off with imports and now........
  9. Damn it man. It sounds good at this point. Just waiting a few days to decide what I want to do.
  10. Well, had some fun with the Mickey DR's last night. I put a SPEC 3 clutch in the car since last visit and got a good deal on some tires, so I decided to try them out. First pass I attempted to slip the clutch at 3000 rpm. It starting to move, then fell on its face. Went 12.14@118. First gear was a joke after the bog. The tires grabbed like hell hitting 2nd though . Second pass tried 3500 rpm. Same crap. Started to move, then it bogged down and went 12.12@116. Keep in mind I ran a 12.12@119 on sumitomo radials at trails last year. Next pass I brought it up to 4000 and tried to slip it again and this time it started to roll out a little, then it bogged big time and the 60' was a 2.21. I think it was a 12.5x pass. After not having any luck trying to slip it out, key word was TRYING to slip it out, I decided to try an almost side step at 3800 rpm. Let's just say the car moved about 3 feet. Driver's side halfshaft is nice and floppy on the outside now. I had a much easier time slipping the stock clutch before and now once I get another shaft put in, I have to figure out where to bring this thing out to get it rolling without bogging the shit out of it. There is what feels like zero slip ability with this clutch, but it holds like crazy when hitting gears. Someone please talk me out of trading for a solid axle right now. All in all it was a nice little bit of testing and tuning for me.
  11. Stock halfshafts don't like 3800 dumps on Mickey DR's either
  12. I'm not really biased. I like them both. If I could have both I would. I think you hit it on the head with the Corvette being the better overall performer here. I still really like my car, but I definitely would drive a ZO6. Lighter and better handling. The weight and aero play a big role in the lower powered vettes hanging with the higher powered Cobras. Either one works well.
  13. It's one of the few things that I actually like doing on the internet. The drama is a little much sometimes, but it keeps me reading. I'd rather see a track times thread with videos than most of the B.S. on here, but that would get boring after awhile. Oh, and I like to piss people off by telling them that they need more seat time:).
  14. Let's just say that I wish all tracks could manage the lanes like Kilkare. They somehow can manage to run the lanes through very quickly, while other tracks seem to take forever at times.
  15. As far as the bottom ends, they are well built from the factory. They came with forged pistons, good crank, and manley rods. As long as you have a good tune and enough fuel, these bottom ends have seen 800+ rwhp. They won't last forever at that power, but it's very possible. A good safe tune and 550-600 rwhp will last awhile as long as you don't do too many back to back top end pulls. The rear diff is a 31-spline unit that is relatively strong, but with the IRS and wheel hop that can create issues with the stock half-shafts. If you beat on the car, powershifting and things like that, it's a toss up with the stock transmission. It has a 10-spline input shaft, which isn't the best for these cars. I'm sure all of the other guys will chime in and add to this, so this is all I have for now.

    Trans Issue

Pussy That is my guess, as far as the issue.
  17. It's about time. Funny stuff. Howard was ready to throw those headers out the bay door. Good times.

    Trans Issue

Well sir, what do you think? I believe that there is a reverse solenoid of some kind and that could be it, but I'm no expert on this.

    Trans Issue

Driver error. Definitley driver error. In all seriousness I don't know. When I "fixed" my TKO in my fox body it wouldn't go in reverse at first. Then all of the sudden it went in and for the next year that I had it, it worked fine. Sorry that I wasn't any help. Want to put a dollar on it?
  20. Where is the pic of the Camaro with the Motorsport fender covers? Damn it man.
  21. Can't go wrong either way. Just depends on your personal preference.
  22. Who wants to donate to my needs $3,000 for CCW's fund?
  23. Brian, my thoughts are with you and your family. Hope all is well. If you need anything feel free to call.
  24. I already told Brian to go to Trails on Friday. I guess Thursday works better for him. Have fun.
  25. How long has it been since the Bug incident? I had forgotten about that. Glad I wasn't there to see that happen.
