Thats the #1 reason photogs get to charge so much. Not many do remember it and 1/3 is about the right price as long as your not paying someone to take pics and give you a CD full of RAW files.

Get a photog that will stay at the reception and get nice candids and you'll be better off really.

You probably want a good photog. If not I'm getting in to the business (wanting to make it my full time job someday), have a good bit of skills/gear, but no experience at weddings yet. If cheaps your plan then I will hook you up with a lot of stuff just to get the experience at doing the different items people want.

He should go pro. At the level of skill it takes to get on a good college team what was he planning on doing as a career anyway that college was gonna help him with besides football? he can always go back to school if he gets hurt unless I'm missing something.

Military communications does rely on satellites a great deal, but it is not the only way they send information. In that case a single solar mass ejection would render us unable to send data/info and those can happen pretty often. Not sure what aircraft they use now, but it used to be the AWACS(sp?) for information transfer for regional work.

I still do them by hand. Takes an hour, maybe two and I got investments, house, and crap. Still very easy to do even if your not using the 1040EZ anymore. Doesn't get complicated until you get a profitable business (meaning simpler self-employed taxes are still very easy.)

I haven't heard any more beyond the tech involved and that it had some trouble starting once it got to space, then worked eventually. Wouldn't surprise me if it was abandoned. Shit takes so long new tech will pass it in space:-) One of the other key parts that I didn't really touch on was that the tech has been around for over 100 years. Might be closer to 120years now.

I've thought about NASA working with the DoD and I'm thinking it would be a good thing. NASA's always been about doing the job and using as little energy as possible. The ION engine is a good example. Deep Space 1 is currently headed to the outer planets using one and its supplied a whole 14kv and takes months/years to reach a cruising speed. COME ON copiers that I work on run 5 times more powerful grids and they are just putting toner on paper. The engine on DS1 could potientally reach a good percentage of the speed of light if you wait around long enough (We'd probably be dead by then.)

You've got a night snapshot mode and you can do shutter times up to 15sec so you should be able to get the shot your looking for. Only concern is focus is automatic only so you'll have to focus on a light or edge of a brightly lit object when shooting a night city scene.

get somewhere with better shade and get some lights. Cars are hard to do really well. Gotta let the paint reflect the light instead of just lighting the car too, tricky, but once figured out works great.

I'd guess this was a church or school or maybe it did both. I've found a lot of information about the early history of the area, but nothing on this building yet.
