CR Help Me: Picking new wheels for 2018 Raptor
zeitgeist57 replied to oh8sti's topic in Passing Lane
Damn...salty, sarcastic Rymer is a funny Rymer. :lolguy: -
Wags, great seeing your published work as always but you should work on your punctuation. I don't mind telling you this as we go back a ways. From the article (I'm assuming you don't mind me copying for this purpose?) I added some commas/quotations in bold: "The Competition Eliminator class might look like a really fast version of the "Island of Misfit Toys" to the average person, with all the strange combinations that fill it at NHRA events." "There’s an old saying in Competition Eliminator racing: "If you throw a part up in the air and it comes down, it’s too heavy", so Holt’s dragster was designed to be as light as possible." If you are a little more conscious of where to add commas, as well as quotations around proper names, places, pop references (like Christmas movies ) or quotes, it's a little easier to follow. As I've said before, your writing is great, especially in a sport with some very technical jargon and industry/hobby-specific terminology not often used elsewhere. It's not lost on me that your travel schedule, event coverage, and technical interviews mean you probably have a demanding timeframe to write and publish all of this within expected deadlines. Just some constructive feedback. Keep up the great work, brother!

+1. Very much this. Glad to see you're getting some great opportunities to cover that which you love!
-
Thanks for the updates. Looking forward to more progress on this one!

Wow. Nice guy...last time I saw him was the Bethel Rd coin-op car wash probably 7-8 years ago. Any details surrounding his death? He was a nice guy.
-
Something tells me he won't use the bed beyond what he can just get in/out from the tailgate. I like the little details!

Depends on the solar panel system, DJ...maybe Jesse is looking at a roof-mount panel system? Now....I did SolarCity's calculator: $91k for a SolarRoof!!!! That's going to be more than 7.5 years to pay that off.
-
Great to hear from you, man! Car looks sweet...that's an HRE style you don't see often.

My FiL has an 85D and has a $1k deposit on a Model 3, due to come up for his turn to buy one around June/July 2018. Based on my recommendation, my BiL just bought a new 90D. I've said multiple times how I love Tesla. I do want to get a used Model S. HOWEVER...I have to say that there are a few things that have popped up on my FiL's Mod S from a quality standpoint after 13k miles that gives me pause to wait and see how the Model 3's come out from a QC standpoint. Before I get lambasted by Scott et al ....I'm still a fan, but unless you want to drop $100k+ on a new-new, it doesn't hurt to keep an eye on the used market for Model S's.

+1. Honestly, if you're not going to jump the thing, I'd love to see some bigger wheels, like 22s? http://nolimitbmore.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/11/2-22.jpg Holy shit!!! You're still alive?!?! :gabe: -
I tuned in at 4:20 (:masturboy:) in the 4th, as I was doing projects and was just following along online, but definitely stopped to watch the game when it became 38-33. Man...that was an amazing comeback. Thanks to Randy for posting the game above...it was worth it last night to skip the commercials and between-plays to see that whole 4th quarter again in fast forward.

Nothing against the series...I just stopped caring once the Indians were out. Hope LA wins it. F Texas.

I have a friend coming into town mid-November that has been manufacturing and selliing an exhaust lineup specific to H-D that he wants to begin selling in the U.S. in 2018. In working with him to get this off the ground, I'd like to help establish dealer agreements with Harley-Davidson dealers and aftermarket parts sellers. Please let me know if you have any dealer contacts around Ohio. I'm happy to make introductions and have initial discussions as necessary. Feel free to message me directly, and thank you.

Anyone do a C5 #Vettehack yet??? Also, that thing is at LEAST $5k too expensive.
-
Dude! Missing crucial info: - bolt pattern, guessing 5x100, 5x114.3 - wheel offset? - wheel size?
-
Does the A/C work, Rick? I forget...
-
That is... BY FAR... The ugliest car I've ever seen. To take a Coke-bottled 'Vette and add such HARSH angles and flat surfaces is disgusting. Thank God the Japanese and Germans came along to give the wealthy eccentrics something better to buy!

OMG last week I was in Streetsboro for a business meeting and Waze made me go 480W to 271N to get back to Columbus. It was a standstill for 30 minutes, THEN I had to get off to take an overpass, reentering 271S for moar traffic. I should've taken the Turnpike. I think my dried blood is still all over the steering wheel from smashing my face against it.

I don't appreciate this patronizing comment. You feeling better about yourself? "If any provision of this Act is challenged in court, it shall be defended by the Attorney General of Ohio. The People of Ohio, by enacting this Act, hereby declare that the committee of individuals responsible for the circulation of the petition proposing this Act (“the Proponents”) have a direct and personal stake in defending this Act from constitutional or other challenges. In the event of a challenge, any one or more of the Act's Proponents shall be entitled to assert their direct and personal stake by defending the Act's validity in any court of law, including on appeal. The Proponents shall be indemnified by the State of Ohio for their reasonable attorney’s fees and expenses incurred in defending the validity of the challenged Act. In the event that the Act or any of its provisions or parts are held by a court of law, after exhaustion of any appeals, to be unenforceable as being in conflict with other statutory or constitutional provisions, the Proponents shall be jointly and severally liable to pay a civil fine of $10,000 to the State of Ohio, but shall have no other personal liability to any person or entity." Alright, sounds like "Medical Malpractice" isn't the right term. However, now that I'm looking at what I am assuming is part of the Act (since I'm not verifying what you copy/pasta'd above), I don't see - in this case - why we allow an outside influencer to act on our behalf to fight for cheaper drug prices, when we as Ohio citizens have to have the State pay this Proponent's legal fees if we want to use the courts to put them to task if they fail (except for a $10k fee). My pharma is provided at a discounted rate by health insurance coverage through a corporate employer that I pay a controlled annualized amount for out of my pocket. I don't need someone to push that which the Federal gov't and capitalist forces has already priced downward. I'm still a NO on this one.

Copius. They have a basement with a stage that's very intimate, and a second floor with decks that's perfect for a more open space. Killer spot that I just learned about. I know the owner. PM me with details, what you'd like, and I can get someone to contact you back!
-
So, I spoke with my FiL (who's a surgeon) about this, and the consensus is that the "lower drug costs" thing is a trojan horse to try to get folks to vote for it. The BIG PROBLEM if you look at the actual ballot language is it opens the state up for medical malpractice lawsuits that the State of Ohio has to pay for. That alone will make me VOTE NO. If your generic drugs are cheap now, they will still be cheap b'cuz Obamacare at a federal level. This has nothing to do with what you all are currently playing!

Guys, it's 2017...Cleveland is pretty much a suburb of Columbus by now! Think of other cities like Chicago, NYC, DC, LA....it can take 2 hours just to commute to work each way, every day! Sad to have another guy leave the area, but good to know you're still in Ohio. There will always be a slot for car shenanigans here on CR for you! Best of luck in Akron!
