  1. You guys are bishing too much about that grille. Assuming the factory is plastic, I'm just not a fan of how cheap it looks. The aftermarket would come up with a suitable "enhancement" for it. How about a retro metal insert??? I'll just leave this here for ideas: http://www.motorsportscenter.com/uploads/az-15_lr.jpg
  2. For less than $7K, you'd better be driving a stick shift if you want something fun to drive. NO TURBOS. I'd look at Rocky's Crown Vic...higher miles but motorpool-maintained and easy/cheap to repair...which for a less-than-$7k-car is almost just as important as reliability. If you're bitching about MPG's, then look at a Mazda2. I had one as a rental, and aside from the automatic sucking the life out of the engine, the handling was very enjoyable. For a father in your position I would strongly look at a Kia Soul, Honda Fit, Mazda2 or base Subaru Impreza. Bank of America finances up to 8 years and 125k miles, to give you an idea of how far back you can go for the age/mileage of a used car if financing is needed.
  3. Impressive standings! Cool how a properly set-up 128 does that much damage... Aside from cost, was the 128 always the plan (over a 135)?
  4. I'm digging the whole thing because it's such a simple, uncluttered design. It's not feminine, but also not aggressive. It's fish-mouth in it's own sense of personality (or lack of it). I haven't even seen the interior, but as long as it has an A/C and possibly cruise control option - and a radio - I'd be good with it. I drive 138hp in a 3100lb convertible and I make it where I need to go ahead of everyone else just fine. EDIT: NOT SAYING I'D BUY ONE...so don't go start with the "Clay review" stuff again...
  5. http://jalopnik.com/the-toyota-s-fr-will-be-light-fun-and-cheaper-than-a-m-1736022132 So...let me get this straight: -lightweight sports car from Toyota. -RWD, 6-speed manual. -Should be well under $20k to start. ...AAAND it might be coming to America? Miata-bros? Toyobaru-bros? AutoX-bros? Is anyone noticing the news around this thing??? Horsepower sells, but if something this pure, fun, and cheap were to be sold in the U.S., I think it would sell 100k of them a year.
  6. They live their lives...1/32 of a mile at a time???
  7. The part I like is the twin turbos. The part I love is Beaker.
  8. I'll just leave this here. Love Motor Trend videos with Randy Pobst as the test driver. I'm becoming a big fan of the ATS-V...

  10. Thanks for the interest, guys! I'm checking with my wife on a couple offers...I'm on a work conference call. Will get back ASAP.
  11. My lovely wife bought 4 tickets for $175/ea for tonights' show at Quicken Loans in Cleveland. Problem is...she's going tomorrow with friends. Before she communicated this issue to me and I would've made her suffer a life's lesson, she's already purchased tix for tomorrow as well. I realize it's late notice, but if anyone is interested in these tickets please let me know. She's going to try to resell as well. Thank you!
  12. http://www.car-part.com That's how I found the head for my BMW. Great resource.
  13. I had an eBay stubby on my Passat...it sucked. Does your A4 have the rooftop "shark fin" antenna?
  14. That 'Maro rolled faster in reverse at idle than my BMW does in 2nd gear. Seriously impressive stuff.
  15. Are there any other online car groups - somewhat make/model generic - that would want to group together? I like Ryan's ideas too...if there was a software upgrade I would throw a few bucks at it and I'm sure others would too.
  16. I wondered if anyone thought about putting a heavy coat of wax on and letting it dry for the winter. It sounds like "too much of a good thing", but if it forms a physical barrier between clearcoat and salty winter spray, could it not just be removed in the spring with a dishwash-soap bath and a re-application of wax...just like we'd be doing anyway? EDIT: Nevermind! Bad idea...just googled it. Good points about an unbuffed wax coat: - acts like flypaper, trapping debris/salt against the paint. - sponges moisture and causes more damage to paint/mouldings/emblems in the long run. http://gamerpops.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/07/the_more_you_know2.jpg

  18. Kerry, NOTHING like a pre-runner except for knobby tires and 2WD. Still a stock, full-body, full interior street vehicle that uses a small drop to improve the stance and aggressive RUBBER (not wheels) to fill in the gap. I tried this - cheaply - with Cleetus by incorporating a "stink-bug stance" with the nose dropped lower than the rear. Makes for a bed that can still haul stuff with minimal suspension travel still...Couldn't find low-profile 15" tires that had knobby, aggressive tread for cheap so I went with the functional snow tires. Would love some rally tires with RWL sidewalls but they were pricey and not the best treadwear for the street. Ended up being a far more useful package despite the drop. Hence, my appreciation for this article!
  19. It can be a phase...I did a bit of sleepwalking when I was younger. Is it possible to lock a door so bathroom is accessed but motion sensors aren't?
  20. Honestly didn't notice. When she was executed, I cringed because I would worry that the shooters would've hit each other in the crossfire if they weren't careful. Also, thank you for bringing this thread back on topic.
