  1. Not CL, but I'm becoming more of a fan of 25-year Euro imports (Renaults, Euro Fords, etc) that are coming stateside... https://www.ebay.com/itm/1991-Ford-Fiesta-RS-TURBO-MK3-SEE-VIDEO/263463045168
  2. You have to laugh in order to keep from crying. I chided the Obama administration for not being as transparent as he campaigned to be. Trump stepped up that rhetoric, saying how bad Obama/Hilary are and how much better he'll act....but now there couldn't be more obfuscation in the White House. I almost want to act like every other Trump supporter: be ignorant to the process, policies, and gaps/violations, just to only hear EXACTLY what you want to hear.
  3. I put Autocross because that's all I'm able to afford to do from a time/money standpoint: DD to the track, have fun...maybe benchmark my time with others, drive home. I still need to finish my pilot's license; if all I can do is 2-3 autoX events around Columbus this year between family/vacations/projects - especially if my son wants to come - then I'm happy for now. I has a sad because Matt said it's not racing. But he's right...and if anything, AutoX keeps some element of skill and physical aptitude for racing at a future date. At least I'm doing something.
  4. Good luck, man. I've played with this idea numerous times but it's minimum $500 for something that they will get limited use out of. I was just talking about it to some friends this weekend at a daddy/daughter campout: Best advice I was given (that I hadn't thought of, and that doesn't require putting my kid in some sketchy Harbor Freight-welded chassis) was to go to an in-door go-kart place once she gets old enough to see if she really enjoys it before committing to an investment.
  5. Office buddy just texted me - his son tossed his cookies in their 2014 Grand Cherokee. In addition to the steam clean this job's going to require, he'd like to have a full interior cleaning done as well. I know Tim's the man for exterior detailing, but any recommendations on a person or shop? ***Also, I used my wife's Odyssey to carry my in-law's snowblower during the last snowstorm (I hadn't bought the new truck that weekend), and gas leaked out of it onto the carpet. I did a spot-treat but it still reeks of gasoline. I could use a good cleaning for our van as well....though my request is not as involved as my friends!
  6. The 1g non-S models had a Rover transmission that tended to grenade. Factory recall should've replaced that issue.
  7. Right...part of that is the 1.3billion people China needs to take better care of.
  8. I will say, I'd like to see China step waaaaaay the F up in terms of Paris Accord agreement. Congratulations on manipulating your currency, enacting import taxes, and employing child labor...YOU'VE WON AT BEING THE GLOBAL MANUFACTURER OF SHIT. We're #2 polluter, so we need to do something (and are)...but I want to see real, recognizable progress. China, it's 2018. Time to clean up your act, on your own yuan (dollar). Yes, America/Europe got away with a lot during the Industrial Revolution, but it's time for the economics and environmental causes to catch up if we're all going to participate together.
  9. Any Crew fans still on here??? It's been an interesting week! So...earlier this week there was an article that Austin is now not too keen on giving up city park space to Precourt to build a new stadium. https://www.bizjournals.com/columbus/news/2018/01/24/crew-roundup-mls-extends-olive-branch-to-columbus.html Last night, the Commissioner for MLS out of NY was saying that he is lobbying for Crew to stay in Columbus, or for MLS to give something to C'Bus. https://www.si.com/soccer/video/2018/01/23/mls-commissioner-don-garber-columbus-crew-relocation-austin-texas Sounded like Austin wasn't becoming such a slam-dunk...but I'm not naively holding out much hope. https://www.bizjournals.com/columbus/news/2018/01/26/crew-sc-owner-talking-with-potential-investors-in.html?ana=e_colum_bn_breakingnews&u=IGw%2BQupQDpXCE9vhBhveIg0ebf6f75&t=1516991170&j=79662151 MAD PROPS to whomever is keeping the Columbus door open to the Crew, be it under Precourt's ownership or paying him to leave it. Cool things are happening in Columbus these years...would still be a shame to lose the Crew in '19.
  10. Steve, the rest of this thread is going to consist of CR members dissuading you from doing a "fun" FD project, into doing other projects instead. I know you've thought of other options and are settling in on the FD. I'm just warning you. You should've kept your CTS-V. Maybe go find a GTO or G8: instant clean LS car for DDing.

I thought Eman (Stoopid Hipster) went to Oklahoma or something to get schooled on being an ATC (Air Traffic Controller)? That's a high-stress fast-thinking job that starts around $100k/year...
  12. I remember that. He actually did an article for Popular Science (or Popular Mechanics???) a month before his death. At least he died chasing storms...not some pink elephant.
  13. Given that area, I don't see a population density need for a lot of homes. Probably part of the reason why it's gone down $150k in sale price over the last few years.
  14. $600k? for 36 acres and 7800sqft of commercial buildings? Wow, that seems cheap. Was it ever an airstrip? I've flown in and out of Mt. Victory's grass field just to the west.
  15. Tim outlined a few of the points that I wanted to see from a "change" perspective. I felt, during the 2016 election campaign season, that Obama actually did do a good job as President; though I didn't agree with some of his actions, he accomplished a lot of what he set out to do. As an American citizen, I respect that out of a President. Now, what if we could change some of the things I thought would be good (pro-business agenda, anti-cronyism, replace ACA) through Trump over Hillary? That would be a conservative step in the right direction!! Except...Trump hasn't done much, except reflect a pro-business agenda that Wall Street and Corporate America wants to see - though he's done little aside from not instituting new regulations. The Tax Reform has a short-term benefit, but long-term losses by most economists' standards. The rest of that agenda he supposedly has ain't. going. so. well. #stablegenius #borderwall #shithole #covfefe
  16. Well said. I guess the change I wanted to see from the 2016 election is happening a lot uglier than I anticipated it to be.
  17. I will say it's a huge ship. I had my in-laws and kids with us...there was a "club" floor on the ship with multiple venues that we just didn't see because we were keeping it family-friendly. The riskiest behavior I got myself into was discovering halfway through the cruise that the casino had $1 mimosas from 11a-1p
  18. Hang on...Obama had staffers roll over under his administration, but Trump: 1) Hasn't even filled all of his cabinet/staffer vacancies...let alone the ones he's filled are at BEST "cronies" and at WORST not qualified at all for the position. 2) Many of the people he HAS hired have already flip-flopped out within the first year of office. I gave crap to Obama when he had some of his team leave for private-sector jobs before his term was done, but holy cow...I voted for Donald Trump under the assumption he'd bring "business savvy" to the White House, and he can't even fill a bus with people that would follow him in to work with him.
  19. http://www.tmz.com/2018/01/25/storm-chasers-star-joel-taylor-od-drugs-ghb-fbi-investigation/ D'oh. That is...indeed...not the best way to leave this earth. We were on "Harmony of the Seas" this past summer for an extended-family cruise in the Caribbean. I can tell you a party like THAT did not go on...as far as I knew!
  20. Not disagreeing with you there, but my point is more that Trump makes it seem like he's got nothing to hide, but he'll hide anyway. I think it's brilliant marketing if he pulls it off, but it's a terrible example of leadership behavior.
  21. After he criticized Hillary and Cosby for pleading the 5th Amendment while under oath, now he's going to take the exact same path. #hypocrite #doubletalk I agree that it's the correct way to answer Mueller's questions, but Trump acts like he's yelling at a bully to fight in the playground and then he runs behind his daddy when the threat comes his way.
  22. Thanks for the info. Congratulations again on the find!
