  1. What are you doing to source new headlights? eBay? Agreed...great pick up, BTW. We know how you operate: once it warms up that should be an easy flip come spring. Curious where you get these deals, as Craigslist is full of scammers like this now: https://chillicothe.craigslist.org/cto/d/2006-mini-cooper-turbo/6471624027.html
  2. It's not a story. It's an Op-Ed piece that I feel - as a former Trump supporter - helps explain why it's so frustrating following him. Trump: "Conversation with Mueller? I'm looking forward to it" WH Press: "Uhh...the President is NOT inviting a Grand Jury investigation"
  3. Wow. How many miles were on it? I would love to find a cheap MINI convertible to park in FL. The closest I got last year was an '06 S 'vert that some dealership wanted $3600 for...and it had 145k miles!

  5. Means that we don't understand wussy cars because we're not in the market to buy wussy cars.

Yes, I’ve got 55 hours towards my private pilots license but stopped short of getting my oral and written exams done. Will need to go through a bunch of it again since it’s been a couple of years but not in the plans for the first half of this year at least. Kerry’s right...I’m not up on what it takes to be a commercial pilot. Honestly, I don’t think starting close to 40 years old without a nest egg of money or a lot of loans for schooling is going to help. Plus, you’d better be prepared to spend a lot of time away from home OR be prepared to move. Once you have 20+ years and with a major carrier, I’ve seen where you can live where you want and “commute” to a hub, but again you may be away for a few days at a time. Not the same, but I would think it would be easier to become a truck driver, especially with the demand on this economy for drivers.
  7. http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-5305847/TV-storm-chaser-appeared-TV-series-dies-aged-38.html I loved this show a few years ago, and thought this guy seemed solid. Maybe it’s also because I’m 39 that this guy’s early death strikes me. RIP mang.
  8. My "new" '01 Silverado came with the P.O. - a friend of mine - saying that he hit a pothole and it's now"driving funny". Literally, the top of the steering wheel hits the one o'clock position if I let go. I held it straight for 280 miles to Cleveland and back and dropped it off when I got home for an alignment. Shop is at least 2 days out...on an alignment. I hate winter. It's an asteroid field on the highways, dodging potholes. We salt the roads so our metal gets destroyed, and water melts only to re-freeze and heave the road until it craters. Seriously, what salt mafia controls our obligations to maintain 6-story tall football fields of road salt when 90% of the cars on the road have AWD/4WD, if not ABS or at least traction control?
  9. Agreed. Sad about the past unpleasantries, but best of luck on continuing down a happy road with your wife and growing family!
  10. You might be right... Buick's website says that there's $10k off the cars at Garber. I haven't priced a new car in a long time so I'm off the game I am secretly a big fan of the Buick Cascada. Part of it is my love of convertibles, but the thing also reminds me of a Buick Reatta from my childhood. That, and the Cadillac Allante were the crazy-rare American cars in my community. There aren't that many Cascada's and Buick is keeping the pricing tight, with not a lot of discounting. Respect. https://www.cars.com/vehicledetail/detail/718236865/overview/ https://www.cars.com/vehicledetail/detail/717268131/overview/ ^^^Dude, all white Cadillac Allante, removable hardtop...on wire wheels? :megusta:
  11. Holy shit...that’s a lotta car for $24k brand new! Does it have the magneto suspension? If the LaCrosse is on the same chassis as the new Impala, that’s a great thing. One of the most comfortable cars I’ve driven recently.
  12. NAPA rebuilt the M42B18 head for my BMW. New valve guides, 3-angle valve job. DOHC cam bearing and valve lashing...all of it ready to bolt on for me. It's been 10k+ miles of right up to 6000 RPMS for the last couple of years, no problem. I throttle the garbage out of this DD. They manage local machine shop relationships to do work.
  13. ^^ I don't game. Like...at all. I laughed at this clown.
  14. 1) No working knowledge of the 4.8, but I'll forever remember HOT ROD doing an article about China-Turbo'ing a junkyard 5.3*, pulling it 30 times on a dyno to almost 1,000hp before it grenaded... *...and then finding a casting number on the head when they were pulling apart the engine that it was a 4.8L the whole time! 2) I would say go for a complete 4.8 longblock with rotating assembly if you can find it. Any efforts to find a 5.3 that needs intake/rotating accessory drive will quickly escalate to a good amount more money than a complete 4.8L that's still in one assembly.
  15. Can you find a decently-sorted 9-5 Wagon? Small hitch could tow a decent camper/teardrop/popup. 1) I don't want you to lose your "Resident Saab Fanboy" label 2) I think a wagon would be much better than an SUV - efficiency, sportiness, space https://www.cars.com/vehicledetail/detail/705449459/overview/
  16. Would've voted for Robochan if the pic was of a better resolution.
  17. +1. This man drove that poor 9-5 in an AutoX event. I would think something that maybe hauled a small utility trailer when needed but still could curl around a track would be more appropriate from a utility standpoint.
  18. Yeah, I think Brad is being cute. Pay off your mortgage quicker? Have someone else do it for you. :gabe: #rentals
  19. Open article, see author's avatar is a white male with a hyphenated last name, rightfully assumes article takes a liberal stance on the issue. :gabe: http://i0.kym-cdn.com/photos/images/newsfeed/000/506/348/e55.jpg Honestly, great article. I especially liked this quote: "“This country was founded by geniuses,” the Louisiana Republican John Neely Kennedy said. “It’s being run by idiots.” <<Fiscally-conservative voter here....It still upsets me that DACA/"Dreamers" are being used as a political football. Unemployment is at a historically low level, and finding qualified employees is by far the number one issue facing companies I work with. Immigrants form an extremely valuable part of society doing jobs that 'Muricans no longer want to do. "THEY TOOK OUR JERBS!!!" is no longer a valid argument against wasting money on a border wall. Both sides are at fault in the first .gov shutdown since January, 2008...and most of the reason is because of immigration? Moronic.
  20. Newer Hyundai Sonata/KIA Optimas are YUUUGE on the inside, and are great long-distance/highway cruisers. I grew up with my parents driving Honda's through the '80s-'00s and now they're on their second Sonata and love them. I drove their 2012 from Cleveland to Long Island, NY and it returned an easy 34mpg at 70-75+ cruising. Super comfortable. The '15 they have is even better on the interior. The styling of the Optima - especially newer with LED's - is a set of lowering springs and wheels/tires away from being a really good-looking, reliable, comfortable-yet-sporty DD. With the ZF 8-speed/Pentastar combo, you can't go wrong with a Charger/300C either...except I still unfortunately have really bad juju towards FCA products.
  21. Nice! Withholding submission for a warmer month, although I've got a good one for the fall. Thanks for doing this, Tina! Great idea...
  22. As a poor corporate pawn that had his car broken in and a work bag stolen, I hope the hanging file console has a lid that can be locked? #databreach
  23. Is it a framerail, or a k-member subframe that's rusted through? Any benefit to an aftermarket piece at this point (if one's available)?
  24. In addition to the HPDE events, will UFO/MORPCA be doing AutoX at Circleville in 2018?
