  1. Fucking dead. Joe, is that a JDM Silvia front end? The zip-tied front license plate really bugs me. Could you move it up a bit and fab up a bracket, or just screw it into the bumper?
  2. Do we need to worry about emissions compliance, when Kerry successfully sucks the oxygen out of a room? If there's a fire, I know Kerry's got a sopping wet blanket somewhere he can throw on it.
  3. At 48k miles. With upgraded turbos. NOT at 148k miles and a bunch of bolt-ons.
  4. Those center consoles look like I should be able to service the engine by lifting up the lid.
  5. If a snapped belt prevents the engine from starting, I have a feeling the aftermarket/automotive service industry will get very familiar with requiring belt servicing. It's one thing to have squealing belts that still get another 15-20k miles out of a '97 Impala...this seems different. Cue $30 BSG serp-belt made in China for sale through RockAuto 5-10 years from now.
  6. http://www.gm-trucks.com/forums/topic/21506-stereo-swap-in-1998-z71/ Meh...I got pics on an '04 Tahoe headunit...I'll need to pull the radio in my '01 to see if there's any interchangability with newer units. Thanks again guys. :dumb: I'd really like to not spend much money for a cheap aftermarket unit that requires a wiring harness and leaves a stupid gap in the dash.
  7. I hear you, but I have faith in serpentine systems provided the BSG is pulling on the crank pulley first. If a 12-rib belt can turn a Magnuson supercharger (that displaces more than most 4-cylinder engines )to 20-30psi, I think everything is going to be fine.
  8. If it's TRULY just a cruiser...no ET goals planned, autoX times, etc... 1) Wheels/Tires 2) Lower it...springs shocks should be enough, no need for tubular suspension bits. 3) Let the LS breathe (intake, exhaust). Keep it CARB-compliant 4) MAYBE throw a EO-CARB certified cam in it for a nice chop.
  9. Greatest thing RAM brought to the full-size pickup truck market in the last few years? The sweet rear-bumper cutouts for the dual exhaust. Seriously, the way the opening is radiused with a rolled-bead contour? GENIUS.
  10. Get Out...was great. Really well done, and I loved the end as well. I didn't realize Jordan Peele (from Key & Peele) wrote and directed it.
  11. Thanks, guys! I really appreciate the offers. I'll look to see per Vonrottes' comment if '03+ stereos work in an '01. They seem to all be NBS GM trucks...I think things definitely got newer after '05-'06...
  12. <<< C4 Corvette owner, converted OptiSpark to a DelTeq Northstar-based coil system. The problem with LT1's from this point forward to eternity is that the aftermarket support isn't there (specialized parts from SBC and LSx, very expensive) so for the HP or reliability/ease-of-maintenance, an LSx will remain a superior choice. Price out a good longblock refresh on an LT1 (waterpump, new serpentine belt/tensioners or even a custom accessory system for the 944, OptSpark or ignition conversion system, new gaskets, etc) and then see if an LSx isn't still a better option. The ONLY thing in my mind that makes an LT1 somewhat attractive from a swap standpoint is if you never plan on modding it for power. 300hp is what you can reliably expect, whereas an LSx is cheaper/easier to tweak to 350hp+.
  13. 1) Fuck new truck pricing. YES, I'm a business guy that understands the economics behind trucks to U.S. automotive market manufacturers. 2) In addition to Cordell's comments above (100% agree BTW), I am still pissed that GM tried sniping at Ford with their stupid "Not Actors" ad campaign by ripping on aluminum bodies and then copying the tech within a lunar cycle. 3) Ford has done such a good job with the F-150 over the last few years (Raptor, EcoBoost, Aluminum bodies, etc) that I will always give them far more credit than GM or Chrysler. Even if most tee-ruks look the same. 4) See Point #1 above. Every RAM...I mean every time I see a decent one...makes me think "84-year loan", "subprime lending", and/or "Rust through in 6 years". FCA has a serious, overarching quality issue with their products (with very few exceptions) that will never be fixed in my mind.
  14. Just picked up my newest truck: 2001 Silverado. It’s got an AM/FM radio but only one of the door speakers works and it doesn’t change tone. Anyone have factory/bolt-in headunit and speakers for super cheap? Not trying to bump shit; just wanting NPR and an FM modulator for Sirius/Spotify. Thanks!
  15. Wow. You've picked up two of the cleanest Fox-bodies I've seen in a long time!
  16. My bad...I guess I didn't realize the '74 was considerably svelter than later cars. You all know my comments around 70s/80s bumpers still stands though! Kerry: the pics came off of an eBay listing. https://www.ebay.com/itm/1974-Pontiac-Firebird-Formula-350/122909695457?hash=item1c9dfd1de1:g:hr8AAOSwt4xaV9EV&vxp=mtr
  17. I've never seen this sort of worked-over nose/tail on a '70s American car, and I really do love it. The Federal 5MPH bumpers on many cars were absolute disasters, and the metal GM/Ford/Chrysler bumpers were atrocious. Whenever I see something like this, it makes me rethink that 70s/early 80s cars could be made to look really good, if we can solve for the bumpers! Is there an aftermarket company that offers this kit, or as far as someone can see with the argent bumperettes that this is a totally custom job?
  18. Wheels do look great on the car, and GREAT JOB on the article, Wags! Very well-written with a lot of info for your viewers(readers?). I'm not a drag-race guy but I learned a few things.
  19. https://jalopnik.com/the-story-behind-the-gnarliest-exhaust-in-recent-memory-1821890631 Not nearly as gnarly as Tinman.
  20. Congratulations! Many happy miles to you.
  21. If you wrote an article on "Insights Into Automotive Print Publications Since 2008", I would read that anthropologic piece. Also, if your production company wants to do a video series on how-to-hot-rod-garbage-on-a-self-imposed-shoestring-budget-while-having-fun-and-remaining-socially-acceptable, give me a call.
  22. I hear Gridlife is a rowdy fun time...to drive as well as spectate.
  23. Ninja, plz. It just sucks to be as awesome as I am, and have Trump to be disappointed with. Don't snipe at me with passive-aggressive comments...I'm just answering your shitty questions. Think about the future. Wouldn't it be great if all the good things Trump is overseeing could be magnified by a positive world perception, and faith in him as The Leader of The Free World?
