  1. Oh no, that didn't look like it was set up beforehand at all.....cinema verite FAIL!
  2. Well, you have to see the previous lap or so. Those two were racing each other hard, there was a lot of contact back and forth. It's how body cars race, you give them a tap to get them loose, they have to back off the throttle to avoid spinning, and you zip on buy. You aren't TRYING to spin them out, or crash them, but it does happen.
  3. I've never heard of anything, and hand-loads for a rimfire are well-nigh impossible (not completely and utterly, but it might as well be. BTW Cheaper Than Dirt.....not the best place to buy ANYTHING from.
  4. Jesus.....absolutely the worst crash I've seen involving NASCAR racing. Poor guy never had a damn chance. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RuyXXC0WFrA&feature=related For those who don't know, the NASCAR Mexico series is roughly equivalent to our Nationwide series in the states, but with more emphasis on road courses. The cars are essentially the same, and usually made by the same companies.
  5. Israel fer sure. The bus in the background is an MAN, but the plate isn't European, and the writing on the rear bumper looks to be Hebrew. As to why he's got his issue weapon with him while in drag.....I don't even wanna know.
  6. Ebay was just the final nail in the coffin. Massive overproduction (runs of 30,000,000+ of each card in a set), the proliferation of "Special" sets and "Limited Editions" (and see overproduction) and the 1994 strike are what really cut the legs out of the market. When you are bulk trading lots of FIVE HUNDRED rookie cards of Gregg Jeffries....well, that just ain't a healthy collectible market. Plus, speculation in a industry that pretty much depends on the other guy's moms all throwing out their cards.....
  7. Make a bill of sale listing the serial number on a sheet of GOOD paper with a photocopy of the buyers drivers license on it. It isn't NECESSARY or legally required, but if the rifle does get used for something bad and they trace the serial back to your 4473, at least you have proof you aren't the owner anymore.
  8. I was just looking for that exact clip. There's a REALLY cruddy version on YouTube, but that's it. It was a dirt circle track car, the clip was from some old Fox show with Stacy Keach narrating.
  9. One of the girls at work can't talk without waving her hands around (yes, she is Italian too). She was taking a sheet of thick plastic back to her station, carrying it notched into both of her elbows so her hands were free while she talked. I laughed at the way her hands were flapping around, and asked her if she was planning to cook for the rest of the Muppets. She didn't get the reference, so I had to explain about the Swedish Chef, and then I did my best attempt at doing his song.....complete with "Bjork! Bjork! Bjork!" which was a BIG hit. About 2 hours later, she was sitting in the break room. I walked up behind her, waited a moment, then went "Bjork! Bjork! Bjork!" just as she started drinking her pop.....best spit-take ever, she had Dr. Pepper coming out of her nose for ten minutes.
  10. I've had brushes, jags, and patches come off in the bore at times, so I can see how it could happen. But I don't see how somebody wouldn't NOTICE their brush was missing, I always did. Besides, the last cleaning step after an oil patch is to CHECK THE BARREL FOR OBSTRUCTIONS.....
  11. OK, I've seen that car before, they live in the REALLY ghetto part of Whitehall. It used to look worse if you can believe that, he had some cheap knock-off 20s on it before, painted yellow over chrome. The paint on them was peeling, and so was the chrome.....ugh. Also had the chrome stuff around the panel edges, and a big gothic letter decal in red above the windshield.
  12. The foxes won't bother a child big enough to be wandering around outside unsupervised, and being outside with a smaller child on a regular basis will scare the foxes into moving elsewhere. If you want to encourage them to move along now, borrow a medium-sized or larger dog from a friend for a couple days, and tether him where he can't QUITE get at the burrow, but can annoy the heck out of the foxes.
  13. It's not exactly what you'd call SLEEK...
  14. What movie was that from? It's bugging me, holy crap there is potentially a pop-culture reference that I'm NOT getting here...
  15. Seems effective to me; he won't be doing that again. Unlike our system, where the fucker would be back on the street 5 years later after being "rehabilitated", trying to find his next victim. Some animals just need shot, that's all there is to it.
  16. But notice that while supplies are returning to pre-panic levels, PRICES aren't.....
  17. So VERY much the truth this is, speech patterns Yoda-esque I must speak in. What's the new name of the restaurant that used to be Talita's? I hear they kept the menu, just changed ownership, but I haven't been in there for a year.
  18. Jeez, did that black Civic have ANY tire pressure at all? Love the black 92+.
  19. Stag Beetle. That one is a male. The mandibles look nasty, but they use them like deer use their antlers, to fight for females. The smaller one ends up flipped on its back. They can't hurt you for anything, it feels sort of like a clothes pin. They can barely even dent the skin, let alone break through.
  20. This photo, from the dedication of the War Dog Memorial on the island of Guam, is one that always brings a lump to my throat. Not all of our veterans and honored dead COULD understand the sacrifice that they made, but their love and dedication to their friends and comrades is in no way diminished. http://i5.photobucket.com/albums/y181/smdalton/canine_memorial.jpg http://www.stripesguam.com/content/war-dog-memorial-tells-little-known-tale
  21. This was a common thing in WW2 Germany. The Allied bombing campaign had pretty much rocked their fuel supplies, and what gasoline was coming was earmarked for the military. So it was quite common to see the few civilian cars running on wood gas or coal gas, usually with the burner/reactor mounted through the fender that didn't have the spare tire. There was a Mercedes at Pebble Beach that had the reactor and such still on it last year, kinda neat to see that kind of Mad Max engineering on a multi-hundred-thousand dollar car.
